holy shit! did you read gallo's quotes in there? damn. talk about mindfucked from the trade talk. he sounds like a shell of his confident self...
I read those quotes too. They are troubling.
He was just trying to show some humility in the face of his sucking lately. Just because he didn't talk smack and claim he is the future best player in the universe doesn't mean he's lost all of his confidence. He's down right now and just happened to get asked the question when he's off his game.
If the same reporter asks him again later in the season about his upside, he will still be humble and say "Dirk, but with better defense". I don't knock the guy for showing humility when asked if he will be on Lebron's level. I mean, WTF is he supposed to say? Gallo: "I am the next Larry Bird, but right now my shot i off. Don't worry, I will save the team with my exceptional shooting ability, tenacious defense, and amazing rebounding".
GMAFB. He's going to be fine. Yes, his confidence has been disturbed by all the Melo talk. But once he gets his feet under him and starts banging down three's, getting to the charity stripe and picking up his game, he will have all the swagger a confident (yet humble) Euro-star should have. He'll be fine.
i hope you are right. he just doesn't sound confident right now. the fact that he brought up melo without any prompting makes me feel like it's in his head.
you guys play sports. When you feel like your doing the right things but the results are wrong it affects your confidence. I had such a bad year at the plate 3 years ago I got totally screwed up. It affected my pitching, I asked to be bumped down in the lineup, I just couldnt get right. The team is struggling, he's struggling, so its not going to sound good no matter what. Give him time. One thing is the dude works very hard. He's not just waiting for the shot to start falling. Guys that work as hard as he does get better.

Gallo turning into Channing Frye right before our eyes.

last year he was at least playing defense even when his shot wasn't falling... i think all the trade talks have really gotten into his head, he's playing with zero intensity so far this season & his head is clearly not into the games... it's a problem to be concerned about no doubt about it.
Gallo in our losses this year;
GSW - 3-9 15 pts, 7 boards, 0-5 from deep
MIL - 1-6 5 pts, 3 boards, 0-2 from deep
PHI - 4-11 15 pts, 6 boards, 2-6 from deep
POR - 2-9 4 pts, 0 boards, 0-3 from deep
BOS - 0-6 2 pts, 3 boards, 0-3 from deep
This guy is killing the Knicks right now. We've got a winning record with any other SF in the league starting in his place.

how many TOs has Amare had in those games?
I am not worried about amare's turnovers. but when gallo is shooting like jamal crawford and rebounding like him too it's a big problem. Walsh should stick to late round draft picks.

I think that blow to your confidence all started one evening on 33rd street...
I posted my thread about Gallo's problems mostly because he wasn't doing anything but trying to launch threes. At least now he understands that he has to do the other things until his shot starts falling again, that doing the other things will help him get his shot back. He launched a really bad three at the worst time but up until that point he was playing hard so I have mixed emotions. I don't believe he is sucking the life out of the Knicks but I do believe that he is part of the problem. Gallo will keep being part of the problem until coach talks to him and the other members of the new "bomb squad" and tells them to work on their fing shot selection.

I demand a rematch. This time AFTER I eat the beans
Tommy Dee's latest blog say's it nicely......
Gallo is showing humility....
Smart kid and that shows me enough to know by years end if Gallo is still
a Knick he will be our 2nd best player after Amare

I totally disagree with this. Gallo is a very good player that is being misused in this system he maybe playing hurt which should be respected in its own way. Personally I would sit him until he is better. The culprit behind the losing is MDA, I respect what he did with the Suns but he needs to adjust and come up with a new approach to the team he has. If MDA isn't able to adjust to his talent then it will be a long season. So far MDA has failed the team with very poor game planning. Lack of execution of game plan. Players are to free to jack up shots on the whim. This system currently run by the Knicks is a fail system. MDA needs to adjust just as Pat Riley adjusted to his talents from Showtime to Knicks and Heat. A coach cannot have one approach to a game and continue to do it even when it is a failed system. MDA has failed to realize in game adjustment. Last night team makes a comeback by driving consistently to the hoop. They break away from what was working to go back to jacking threes, this is an example of poor in game management.
I'm a believer that it isn't always the coaches fault. In Brown's case, it was the players the last two years it was the players because the team had a bigger goal of getting cap space. this year it not about the players its on the coach to bring it all together and he needs to look himself in the mirror and ask himself what he can do to better utilize the talent he has. That is one of marks of a great coach, is his ability to adjust to the talent he has and bringing out the best in them. This is not a three point shooting team and he needs to realize that. There has to be a higher level of execution by the Knicks. This team is playing sloppy basketball, taking ill advised shots thats on the coach for poor preperation.
Great post. I think what is most alarming is that a lot of the coaching deficiencies that are coming up are the same that came up the past two years. I also agree that D'Antoni needs to adjust but I don't see it happening.
__________ is one of the worst players in the league when his shot isn't falling.
Duh.
You could insert a lot of player's names in there. To stick around in the NBA you normally have to be really good at doing at least ONE thing. Guys like Theo Ratlif stick around with ONE skill.
Theo Ratlif is a shot blocker. He is useless when he's not blocking shots.
Gallo is a shooter. He sucks when he's not shooting well. Ok.
Moonangie wrote:umynot wrote:Gallo got to Shoot ball 9 times!!! Came away with 15 points and 3 assists( Second on team tonight!)
How the fuck was this his fault?
I have played way too many games and I will say this NO ONE IS GONNA WIN OR LOSE A GAME
SHOOTING ONLY 9 SHOTS PERIOD!!!
TD had more shots and the Ball in his hands more the Gallo by far and had less production!!
Less points less assists By the fukcing way!!
Chandler scored more but he took 20 shots!!.... More then double Gallo
Gallo out rebounded everybody other the Stat with 7 as well
2 Steals......
9 for 9 from line ( but all he does is shoot 3's)
Only thing we don't need to worry about is Gallo's 3's falling! By years end he will lead our team by a far margin in Made
3's unless he is traded then he will lead another team in 3's
Gallo also got 2 steals and dont recall his man scoring big in game either? Guards killed us tonight as did
Lee.....
Blaming Gallo just sounds dumb!!
Word. This is a really useless thread. Gallo had an ok game. He needs to get better looks before releasing the three. If he doesn't have a good look, he needs to take it closer for a mid-range shot, a pass to an open cutter or big, or just take it all the way to the hole.
Blaming Gallo for this loss is ridiculous. Blame the guards and the turnover machine. Blame the weak interior defense and uninspired rebounding.

This is EXACTLY like Channing Frye. Overrated one dimensional player with unrealistic expectations. Danilo Gallinari can probably be a good role player/specialist on a team off the bench like Frye was last year for Phoenix but we can put the bed the idea of him becoming this Star some of you thought he'd be. And if Denver wants Gallo, Anthony Randolph and Wilson Chandler for Carmelo Anthony, we pull the trigger and win.

He blocks some shots, gets some assists, takes some charges, grabs some boards, dunks on occasion and gets to the stripe. Yes, his main claim to a roster spot is his shooting, which is certainly off atm. But your supposition is that he does nothing else and should not even play in the NBA if his shot is off. That's what I consider "'tard talk".
Just keepin' it real: You're a hater who will always see the world in a glass half empty, cynical way.
