Briggs, Not seeing anyting other than short interest on IDCC to cause it to drop 11%. Any thoughts on either side?
I got stopped out @ 56.50. No need to rush to get back in.

I always work with a stop loss unless I have so much stock that its impossible to do(there are other ways to hedge bigger positions)
I cant sit here and manage peoples positions. The stock ran up almost 13 points--was hit by a down market and was punished by a fair Q. I think the stock is right around the area I called to buy it-I would let the red settle down--not high volume and there is a nice upside gap. If I see anything around 40--Ill be back in. I still fully believe a price target of 175 but now its going to take time-so if you are patient you WILL win. The stock never had a huge volume day on the way up--so you either take a profit or follow it with a stop to protect profits--that is the way you do it.
Thanks Briggs. I don't think anyone expects you to manage or hold you accountable. The stock ran nice for sure and nobody puts a gun to anyone's heat to buy or hold. YOur usually good about your in and out. I suppose once your gone you might just make a note of it since some follow your moves and may want to replicate. If your posting the buy why not post the sell?
Im patient AND ok with holding as I don't go big on any one position. As a rule I usually sit no more than 5% in one holding. I have my playbook and it works. Many ways to be successful in the market and I don't prescribe my methoed as being "the best".
That said I have for the grins and giggles of it carved out a space in my portfolio for "Briggy" picks and for some time have added some nice Alpha to the portfolio. As always I appreciate your putting your picks out there for all to see and think its remarkable that you do so.
I'd be curious to know if you have any such price by which you have a stop on IGOI?
What BRIGGS is talking about here is something that really cannot be taught and I think he will agree. You can listen to the experts all day long but they wont teach you much. Stocks do not go straight up, a lot of times they will go down right after you hit buy, and many times they will go up right after you hit sell.
Patience is the key and I think it comes with time and experience. I have been investing since 2002 and I am just starting to get a better grip on the patience aspect. It really is the key - if you have a true conviction about a stock and it takes a hit, don't sell, use it as an opportunity to buy more. If your stock goes up and you are at a point where you want to take profit, sell. Don't second guess yourself if it takes off more after you sell - a win is a win.
Like BRIGGS said, you can put some things in place to protect yourself which is a smart idea - the rest is all about fundamentals, research, timing, and luck.

I have a lot of price protection on IGOI although I did buy a large extra lot which raised my cost avg substantially. I'm going with this--this is a rule breaker--this is my gut feeling and Ive been with it for over 2 years. It is possible I could be in it for 10 more. that doesnt mean I wont sell some of the holdings along the way-i mean I have 1.5 % of the stock right know as an individual investor.
Very hard to to tell anyone to sell--I can and I have--just did the other day--but I have to assume the individual investor has a plan as I have mine. I can pick when they go up--and that is the bottom line every time--price target is a guide but a soft guide--maybe someone wants to make 10% etc..
The picks/advice I have left on this thread has resulted in several thousand % gains over many years. In 100 lifetimes it would be hard to find that and get it for free.
No body disputes.
Im not speaking entirely for myself. You have people following your posts. They buy when you buy and they sell when you sell.
Your results are exceptional.
Nobody seems to hold you accountable or disputes your generousity.
Im bring it up because you sold Idcc and then when someone was hurting you then mentioned you had stopped out before it dropped. Thats great, and like I said nobody is holding anyone accountable for what you do and don't do.

Like I said Nolad--I cant manage others accounts

I added an additional 111,000 shares last week and another 36k this week. I'm telling you--never had this much believe that in two years from now this will be 10-30 * this amount no matter what happens in the short term. This is where i would double triple down--its going to eb huge. 50 billion mobile devices by 2020 and Igo will be the major niche power management company in that area with worldwide patents on reducing standby power to 0--a one hundred billion $ a year problem.
