LMAO at the Ipad 2 being cheaper and more aesthetically pleasing than Motorola's Xoom. Sucks to be Motorola right now.

I was actually planning on purchasing the WIFI only Xoom too. We shall see what happens with Motorola's pricing.

I have been using the iPad since its release and I have to say that while it is a cool device and certainly has its uses - overall I think it is pretty limited.

The new version has a nice spec bump that I dont think developers will take advantage of, it is slimmer and a tiny bit lighter (the original is heavy and uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time).

Personally I think these things have a long way to go before they become must haves.

I am thinking about buying an Ipad to replace my outdated home laptop. do you think this new release is worth it and what is a good price to pay?

be careful about this type of conversion. IMHO the iPad and Laptop are 2 different tools so be sure you know the differences and limitations of each.

With Apple, there is only 1 price to pay, there are no bargins at different outlets.

Good to know. I agree with you on the difference, but my laptop is only used for web surfing and email right now. My plasma TV has live streaming, so we watch netflix on it and also have a blue ray player. I think the ipad will be good for light surfing and email, skype, etc.

if that's all you do, then iPad is prob perfect tool. I have no idea what surfing is like on iPad but it's prob much better than a phone and lots of people do it there.

I don't have an iPad or tablet but think they are VERY cool and know enough people that have them and who are extremely happy.

I think it is best for surfing, quick e-mails, and watching movies or playing games. Content creation requires a laptop.

If you just want to surf and e-mail it's great but remember apple does not have flash so a lot of websites and videos won't work.

An ipad is an accessory or an in-between device. It is good to take with you on a 2-4 day trip in place of your laptop. It is not a good idea to use it for surfing the web or reading emails at home. I agree with martin, be very careful and talk to people that have gone from laptop to ipad.

I have both. Got the Ipad last spring and its great. Its an "adjunct" to a computer. You still need one to activate it and update it.

It is slower than my laptop but thats to be expected. If you just using the apps then it runs real smooth.

Was so impressed with the product I got an MacBook Pro laptop and really like it.

With so much on the cloud the PC vs Mac thing is really no problem.

Only think other tablets can offer is android which is very good but do it for a lower price. Apple gets expensive but if it works and they stand behind the product then its relative value. If you hava problematic machine its worthless.

Apple's packageing, the chargers and other branded items are really superior design. The magnetic plug on my laptop with the little light to tell me when its charged or charging is great design. It costs money. Having a power pack in the middle of a power cord and if you knock the cord the whole machine can go with it. On the Powerbook pro, no brick in the cord (just a small white one on the end which is the plug and the magnetic end into the machine would just break away. It happens all the time and the over the years the plug won't loosen. Great deaisgn! The metal case alone is worth the price of admission! You can get equal performance for less but the amenities to me add value.
