So I am a massive Oasis fan and have been since '94. They were big in American until about '97 and then faded into obscurity over here but they put out a lot of good material until they broke up in 2009. The remnants of Oasis have formed a band called Beady Eye and they just released their debut album Different Gear, Still Speeding a couple weeks ago. While the song writing is very basic, and they draw a lot on their influences (Beatles, Stones, etc.) I think they put out a solid album that you can listen to all the way through and enjoy.

I have also seen Oasis live many times and as someone who has seen hundreds of concerts I can tell you that they put on one of the best live rock and roll shows I have ever seen. I put a couple of previews down below if you are curious - Four Letter Word is the best rock song on the album and its the opener, Kill For a Dream is probably the best single material (hasn't been released but its a great song) and I put a clip of them performing it live, The Roller was their debut single and is one of the more Beatles inspired songs and similar to Oasis - if you like the Beatles and don't mind a band that wears their influences on their sleeve then you will like this song.

I am a huge fan of 60's/70's music because it was probably the greatest period in rock history so to see a band that is still putting out similar music is something I embrace. Nothing original here but some good music.

Oasis, how about the "modfather"?

Big fan of the Jam, I understood the Style council and the solo work while inconsistent has great moments

The Beady's are sporting some Weller hair style for sure!

I will check this out later--thanks for posting. I too love Oasis. I don't care where I am and will sing along to "Don't Look Back in Anger" anywhere. I will scream it if I have a drink or eight in me.

i am a HUGE oasis fan and i gotta say, i've listened to the beady eye album and i am just not impressed with it. i've been unimpressed with liam's songwriting since heathen chemistry and it's continued onto beady eye. not a horrible album, but oasis and now beady eye has suffered ever since liam took on a lions-share of the song-writing away from noel.

I think his song writing is a lot simpler - lyrically it could use a lot of work but he does come up with good melodies. I am a fan of both Noel and Liam although I prefer Liam's voice. Personally I thought Don't Believe the Truth and Dig Out Your Soul were their two best albums since the 90's and actually really enjoyed both of them. I think Beady Eye picks up where DBTT left off in a lot of ways and that album had the most Liam penned tracks on it.
