Don't put too much thought into it. You'll start going down a wormhole of other plot gaps. Why didn't they send advanced scouts to Kings landing? Is it even possible for Scorpion bolt to reach a dragon with that much force and accuracy? It's obvious D&D are just looking to wrap things up so they can start working on Star Wars. I don't blame them. They probably thought they'd have a completed story to work off of when they started. I just hope GRRM does manage to complete his work. It's like watching Lynch's version of Dune or Kubrick's version of the Shining. They're cool in the their own right once you accept that they're not the source material.

Not feeling the Darth Daenerys turn. I thought Annakin Skywalker had better development leading up to his turn than this.

It feels rushed due to the committed number of episodes this season and the last....but....

Danni has always shown the penchant for violence starting from season 1. You knew she had it in her but her friends kinda suppressed it a little. Now that Jorah and meissandei were both gone she didn't have that rudder to help her stear to the right direction. Meissandei last words also pushed her to this last action.

The dothraki and unsullied I was not surprised but the north men I was surprised. I thought their love of jon would stop them but I guess war is war.

I get that she showed hints, especially in the books. It just didn't feel earned last night. How much screen time did Danaerys and Missandei have all season? Now we're supposed to believe that she is hurting that much? The Varys storyline? I'm not disappointed that he died. That's been foreshadowed for a while. But he has always been a smooth operative in the shadows. Now we are supposed to believe he'd be sloppy and desperate enough to draw up that coup attempt. Arya has sacrificed so much for her vengeance list. A 1 minute talk with the Hound changes her mind? Nice scene, but out of character.

You make some really good points. The Danearys and Missandei dynamics I think is well earned if you count not just this season. Also, I think losing Jorah also pushed her over the edge. Losing both of them in a short period of time took a toll. Then her nephew rejected her advances didn't help. Vary's dying I agree that he seemed to get dumber. Confronting Jon in the open was stupid and something he has never done before but I knew he was dying as soon as Danearys threatened to burn him alive last season. The Arya one I was ok with cause I really like the Hound and Arya dynamic. It is totally believable to me that the Hound can actually talk her out of a suicide mission.

Dani is very much “alone” and the Targaryen blood boils into rage. ONe might think she was torching thinking she fry Jon Snow. Arya has shown she is not stupidly wanting to die and the fact is the hound was on his mission and he convinced her at the moment that the Queen was not going to walk out of this alive. Arya was like “Yeah, your right”. The hound had motives but in time became her protector. I want to see Jon survive dragon fire and then he might be convinced his destiny is as ruler. Although I think he sucks at it.
We all have our theories and opinions. Soon its all over.
I think the scrutiny is from years of slow moving character building and now we know the conclusion is coming so we are very critical. Sometimes characters die but we wanted someone else to have satisfying revenge. Few were a perfect as Rameses Boltons was. Cersei demise did not go as we thought but to me it was very consistent.

I can finally comment on this thread! Started binge watching during season 4. Figured I would at some point, so I avoided this thread. Didnt know where the books ended.

Was disappointed in how rushed the final season was. They had one hell of a hiatus, looked like they finished this project without one. The biggest casualty being Daenerys (and all the kids named after her) I could see her leveling a city in revenge for what was done to her, and her family. Just not being written as so spur of the moment. Would have liked to have seen a slower descent into madness.

I liked how Arya smoked the Night King (so, so battle) how Bran became King, and Bronn became master of coin. Bronn reminded me of a character you would find in an early Guy Ritchie movie.

Will miss the epic quality to this show, wont miss the long waits between seasons.

Watched the finale again. Still think its works, except Bran letting it out that he knew he would be King. Thought they could have written it in a way that was more subtle, considering the chess moves Bran made to get there. Almost felt like a mic drop.

Found this.

[Showrunners] David and Dan told me there were two things George R.R. Martin had planned for Bran,” the actor said, “and that was the Hodor revelation, and that he would be king. So that’s pretty special to be directly involved in something that is part of George’s vision. It was a really nice way to wrap it up.”
