Anyone know when the latest iphone is expected to be available? I am eligible for an upgrade on my phone and Verizon now has the iphone, but a buddy of mine said to wait until this summer. Any of my tech saavy UK'ers know the deal? I have a droid now and like it, but the iphone seems to be all the rage.

Wait 9 mos for next phone? Then a few months to get the bugs out? Naw, cuz in 24 mos you'll want a new one.
4 is nto that much greater than 3. besides, you never win at this game.
Get what you need now and enjoy.
I have the 4 and got it on launch, also had the 3G for 2 years before this one.
The 4 is easily the best phone I have ever owned, a new version will most likely only bring a spec bump to the processor, a better camera, and maybe more storage (64gb vs. current max of 32 gb)
If you need a phone now I would get the 4 without hesitation, I really cant see myself upgrading anytime soon even if something new comes out because this phone is so solid. The camera is awesome, the screen is amazing, its comfortable to use, etc.
I just caught that you are on Verizon - if thats the case I may consider waiting because of the CDMA designation on the phone. You cant surf and talk at the same time on the Verizon CDMA network - 4G LTE you should be able to but current rumors are pointing to a September phone release and it may not include 4G so its a risk if you wait. This is where AT&T beats Verizon, maybe not in overall service but their 3G speed (when it works) and ability to talk and surf (which believe it or not comes in very handy).

So, I hear the new iphone will be announced on 10/4. Anyone have the inside scoop and know whether or not Verizon will have 4G capability?
What a major letdown - the iPhone 4S - no 4G, no bigger screen, just a better camera and faster processors. I think Apple really hurt themselves with this release and really gave a big boost to Android phones that offer 4G, etc. My phone is getting upgraded soon (may just wait for Xmas) and I was really hoping to have an iPhone 5. Guess I'll continue to look at HTC or Samsung..

Yeah pretty much as predicted. I think you will love it though if you decide to buy one.
