Dude why make excuses. The game was in the bag for us. Jefferies cant guard C's.

Our problem is Douglas is a bad man to man defender. I thought I was watching Jamal Crawford tonight.

Come on...if you've watched Jeffries Knicks career at all you know its an adventure every time Jared makes a layup. Thats why we all were jumping up and down with shock and joy when he made the shot before, when literally he got the ball wide open with a clear path to the basket. This is a player who, without exaggeration, drops the ball nearly every other time he touches it.

Serious question: at what point in the game were you relaxed and comfortable in the knowledge that we had this game won?

This game was all about Carmelo putting up an unreal playoff performance. We could have had Mike Brown on the sidelines.

An Autysmic Monkey

A Jerry Kids Panda

A Liquored up Koala

Really it wouldn't have mattered tonight

I find it funny how dudes are trying to praise D'Antoni when his plays out of timeouts have been "Get the ball to Melo" plays.

The Jefferies layup was a broken play that we lucked out on. Depending on Jefferies to make layups if like depending is foolish 9 out of 10 times.

Yeah and he tried to go Paper Rock Scissors back-to-back

Really? It's pretty obvious that the Knicks look to get Turiaf and Jared the ball inside cuz the C's aren't guarding them. Those are actual plays. There's nothing wrong with Jared scoring on a broken play, heck the C's have been getting those kinds of plays all series.

We outrebounded the C's 53 to 37 and we had 20 offensive rebounds. We shot the ball horribly tonight and it wasn't even all due to Celtic defense. Things can go the other way for us at any time. Hopefully it happens in the next game.

Anyone else andthe defense would have been different and they wouldn't have left him alone under the basket.

Yup. I'm going to go out on a limb and hazard a guess that the play they called wasn't "Fishlips-Tango-Blue-92."

No shit?

The real "No shit?" question is who was going to be open. It was 100% certain Melo was gonna get doubled and the worst offensive player on the floor would've been open. Actually the way they approached that play, they definitely had to assume that ball was going to Jared.

Ok so if JJ wasn't there, Sean Williams was parked on the 3 point line and left alone, he takes a shot and misses. Do you seriously beleive the people on this board wouldn't be yelling for MDA to be fired over that?

I can only speak for myself, but I wouldn't. Shawne Williams all year was 3 point shooter and if he gets an open look, thats still a good shot for you. Given the way Melo was getting smothered- it was gonna be someone else taking that shot. Who else? Shawne Williams taking an open 3 starts sounding like one of your best case scenarios at that point.

I believe you, you don't seem to be one of the people who a re spewing irrational hate on MDA all the time. But when your best option is Sean Williams shooting a three, you are probably gonna lose anyways. It's OK to blame the coach, but even Phil Jackson channeling the spirit of Red Auerbah couldn't coach me, Martin and Nixluva into beating Shaq, Kobe and Fisher. It just doesn't happen that way.

You have to get the best shot possible. It may not have been Shawne Williams getting a 3, but its any one of these other offensive players, they all have a better idea of what to do with the ball in that situation. Jeffries is probably the last player on the squad you want getting the ball there. Even scared 12 year old Landry Fields being out there may have been better. You just can't choose to have the worst offensive player in the league out there in last offensive possesion scenario.

Williams 1-3, Carter 1-3 and Walker 0-11, combined 2-17, these were you shooters. Yeah I would go for the layup as well.

TD 5-16. Fields is in Never-Never land.

When we had the Celtics on their heels. Their scrubs weren't getting off on us which is always a good sign.

With 13 seconds left I am totally confused why Shaawne Williams was not on the floor to at least be a decoy. Instead I see Jefferies fumbling the ball.

Putting Jefferies in on a play like that is playing 4 on 5 EVERYTIME.

Part of the mastery in D'AnToni's development of youth, according to many he hasn't been Fields since a couple weeks before the trade.

I am still proud of our guys... melo is a stud, what a performance.. all we need is a break and we turn this series around quickly..

go knicks..

VDesai @ 4/19/2011 11:06 PM
TD is getting ripped, but that was a tough game for him. He had one player to get the ball to and he was being heavily denied the ball and triple teamed- and he is being killed for not orchestrating. I thought he did ok. He had some shots rim out- he's not always gonna have his shots fall. But he played hard and hit the boards and grabbed a lot of key rebounds. What was horrendous about his game tonight is how he played defense in foul trouble. But he doesn't have a ton of experience doing that and he did it dreadfully tonight. But ultimately I think its a game he'll learn from. I'm surprised at how much he is criticized on this board. In my eyes he's come a long way and he has stepped up and driven the team to victory in a lot of games this year.
VDesai @ 4/19/2011 11:07 PM
I wonder what people would've said about Starks if he was scrutinized day to day on the internet.

you have a thing for MDA. if there is any possible way to tie MDA to something that could possibly be thought of in a negative way, you try to do it, whether it's relevant or not.

Dude seriously no excuse for Douglas. The guy has been getting ABUSED by PGs. Jennings DESTROYED him. Rondo DESTROYED him. Rose DESTROYED him. Any PG with speed pretty much abuses him because he is an overrated defender like Jefferies. Douglas gambles way too much and when he cant gamble on plays he gets exposed.

As I said throughout the season. If Douglas isnt scoring buckets he is USELESS. Dude cant run the offense to save his life.

He has run the offense enough to have a pretty good record when forced into PG duties. For a guy who has never played PG he has come a very long way. I think he keeps getting better. Douglas is a good player for the Knicks who had a bad game tonight. I won't defend the way he played defensively- I think he is great in certain matchups and generally his agresiveness is a positive. I think the Knicks have had problems against PG's for years, no matter who was playing PG, because we don't have a consistent lane deterrent and no one the guards can funnell players too. Good penetrating PGs win games every time when the lane is not defended. Douglas' clear issue tonight was not knowing how agressive to be when playing in foul trouble- and he's gotta learn from this experience.

I can't believe how many times I heard people say the Knicks would've been better of without Melo in Game 1. Really? Point is good players can have bad games.

The officiating in this series is horrible! Even though Melo was doing his thing he was hit a few times and no calls, Garnett is dirty he moves on screens constantly and handchecks an holds and gets away with it.

Yeah when Melo hit that big 3 Pierce practically mugged him before the shot. The officiating has been atrocious and really unforgivable. If i'm the Knicks I log a ton of complaints. It's not even just the call on the Knicks, but overall the officials have missed and made bad calls.
Nalod @ 4/19/2011 11:43 PM
Pierce is a raggedy man!

Rondo is like a tree frog kind of freak!

He was awesome tonite.

it was a crazy game. I was into it. Melo was Bernard.

Somehow, he was a +10 on the floor tonight- he and Mason the only + guys. Walker played good defense and rebounded the ball, but man he couldn't buy a bucket. I think he was playing really hard out there though- he helped them stay in the game.

crzymdups @ 4/20/2011 12:03 AM
Melo played out of his mind. That was one of the best Knicks playoffs performances I have ever seen.

Unfortunately, he was completely alone out there.

Jeffries actually played well. Melo made the right basketball play to get him the ball... but with the context of the moment, it felt all wrong. Jeffries played a hell of a game - his defense on Rondo is amazing and he needed to get help on that last KG bucket and he grabbed a bunch of offensive rebounds... but he should never be in the position to take that shot. Then again he made that layup the play before.

Weird game. I can't really fault D'Antoni - he and Melo kept the team in it until the painful end again. Playing without 2 of their top 3 players.

One thing I'll say - are you seriously telling me we couldn't have used Corey Brewer tonight? Seriously?

Otherwise, I think the team did an admirable job. I hope STAT can play at the Garden. I hope Melo and Amar'e can both score 30 in game 3 and game 4 and we go back to Boston tied at 2.

Go Knicks.
