Anyone else andthe defense would have been different and they wouldn't have left him alone under the basket.

Yup. I'm going to go out on a limb and hazard a guess that the play they called wasn't "Fishlips-Tango-Blue-92."

No shit?

The real "No shit?" question is who was going to be open. It was 100% certain Melo was gonna get doubled and the worst offensive player on the floor would've been open. Actually the way they approached that play, they definitely had to assume that ball was going to Jared.

Ok so if JJ wasn't there, Sean Williams was parked on the 3 point line and left alone, he takes a shot and misses. Do you seriously beleive the people on this board wouldn't be yelling for MDA to be fired over that?

Nixluva, I really admire you and hope I could be as optimistic as you are. Not that my frustration will blind me from seeing things like they are: the Celtics are a wounded team that really seems to be playing with their last leg, yet they are a great defensive team with many postseason history and we have fought them hard so far. Unfortunately we haven't been healthy and that has cost us, especially tonight. But we played a great, tough game and I am really proud of them.

But we can't be fans without expecting the team to win and again we see a great chance evaporate in the final seconds. We really didn't believe history could repeat itself, but it did and it is frustrating as hell. I hate that every expert looks right. I hate that Boston hasn't really played great basketball yet they dominate this series 2-O. I hate the fact that I love this team so much and haven't seem them win as they really deserve.

Today I put all my balls in this basket, in this game. I was shocked that Amar'e went down. Yet we fought hard for nothing because without a W, you don't get anything. After this game, Im trully sad but not only for the game, but for the series as I really think this was a vital game andwe had to win. We did'nt and now, even if I'll still rot as hard as ever, a part of my optimism has died. Last game hurt me for the game. This one hurts me for the whole series.

This hurts a lot.

Man you guys are FUNNY! How unreasonable are you guys when this team hasn't been to the playoffs in forever and now that they're in and playing against a good team, fighting to the end of each game all you can do is nitpick and gripe and come up with all these negative comments. How about acknowledging that this team has played nose to the grind stone D in both games. They've fought tooth and nail against a far more experienced team and this team has been together for 27 games. I can't reason with such unreasonable people.

We lost the game, but let's remember that the C's had the advantage of 3 HOF'ers and Rondo all being in the game against Melo and a bunch of other guys. No matter who we put in the odds were against us. I feel great about the effort the team has put forth so far. These games have been exciting and hard fought and i'm proud of the way the team has played. I feel sorry for you guys. You sound petty and totally unreasonable in your appreciation for what's actually going on, on the court with this team.

The Knicks played their balls off and were ultimately betrayed by their lack of talent. We had ONE guy out there who was an offensive threat. One. You have to slide the coach a little bit of credit for rallying the troops right? Just a little?

Loved, loved the effort. I think everything about the game up till the last possession was amazing. But I think he did make a strategic blunder having Jeffries in there on the last offensive possesion. You can't let the fact that he had his best offensive game in several years cloud your decision. He literally was open every possesion because they were doubling on Melo. Perhaps only a man with no arms wouldnt score 10 tonight given those opportunities that he would've been afforded.

Really it wouldn't have mattered tonight

I find it funny how dudes are trying to praise D'Antoni when his plays out of timeouts have been "Get the ball to Melo" plays.

The Jefferies layup was a broken play that we lucked out on. Depending on Jefferies to make layups if like depending is foolish 9 out of 10 times.

Don't bother it's a lost cause. Too much playoff experience and coaching knowledge on this board.

No problem with the Knicks effort and intensity whatsoever

The Celtics are in a fight to survive and they know it

I can only speak for myself, but I wouldn't. Shawne Williams all year was 3 point shooter and if he gets an open look, thats still a good shot for you. Given the way Melo was getting smothered- it was gonna be someone else taking that shot. Who else? Shawne Williams taking an open 3 starts sounding like one of your best case scenarios at that point.

Jared Jeffries is a cruel mistress no doubt, but I think you have to him in there. The guy was working his tail off on the offensive glass and you need that chance for rebounds or tip-backs. Unfortunately for us, when the double arrived a) Melo passed it to the open man and b) the open man was Jared Jeffries.

Nature then took its course as it tends to do.

I believe you, you don't seem to be one of the people who a re spewing irrational hate on MDA all the time. But when your best option is Sean Williams shooting a three, you are probably gonna lose anyways. It's OK to blame the coach, but even Phil Jackson channeling the spirit of Red Auerbah couldn't coach me, Martin and Nixluva into beating Shaq, Kobe and Fisher. It just doesn't happen that way.

You have to get the best shot possible. It may not have been Shawne Williams getting a 3, but its any one of these other offensive players, they all have a better idea of what to do with the ball in that situation. Jeffries is probably the last player on the squad you want getting the ball there. Even scared 12 year old Landry Fields being out there may have been better. You just can't choose to have the worst offensive player in the league out there in last offensive possesion scenario.

AnubisADL @ 4/19/2011 10:42 PM
When your "PG" gives you 17 pts and 2 assists on 5 of 16 shooting while giving up 30 pts to the opposing PG you are going to have a hard time winning.
VDesai @ 4/19/2011 10:43 PM
You have to look at the situation as Carmelo is gonna get tripled and will have to find an open man. So who is that you want taking that? Clyde asked the same question on that possession. In my eyes, from the available players on the floor, Toney Douglas would've been the ideal guy, and I would've liked to have had Shawne Williams out there.
nixluva @ 4/19/2011 10:43 PM
The Knicks did everything they cold to win a game they had no right being in after STAT went down. This isn't a super deep team after our 6th man. The way they fought in this game was great. I can only hope that we can get healthy by Friday. We're gonna need to be at full strength or near it to win the next game.

Did you feel the same way when he score go ahead basket before Grnett did his thing? I don't know about that, a layup is still the best percentage shot you can have in that situation. All you have to do is hold the effing rock and go up.
Williams 1-3, Carter 1-3 and Walker 0-11, combined 2-17, these were you shooters. Yeah I would go for the layup as well.

Dude why make excuses. The game was in the bag for us. Jefferies cant guard C's.

Our problem is Douglas is a bad man to man defender. I thought I was watching Jamal Crawford tonight.
