OK, somehow, this virus managed to slip past my very good antiviral software (microsoft security essentials) and now I can`t just remove it. Does anyone understand how to do this? I looked on the internet and different people say different things. Much thanks and appreciation in advance.

4.) Turn off computer
5.) Bring to Staples

Do you know which virus/trojan it is? What are the symptoms?

Sounds like the BipVirus!

I've found that McAfee finds viruses that Norton misses and vice versa, the same with other brands. Try Avast, they have a free version, it might be able to find that virus and remove it. If not I'd try SpySweeper from Webroot.

try running malware bytes in safe mode. there's also combofix (but only use it if you download it from: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/).

I think I figured this one out on my own, so hopefully I have seen the last of it and it didn't do any damage:

I did the task manager thing, and when it was trying to get me to run a scan, I hit end task... which obviously doesn't delete it. However, the real program is written in a different code or name. When windows explorer asked me to send an error report, it actually showed me that code and asked if I wanted to send a report. I didn't. I just copied that code and searched for it, found it, then deleted it. It looks like the program is gone now.... hopefully that's it.

So yeah... I thought I tackled this thing, but now all of the files on my comp and when I say that, I mean everything. So essentially... I am foocked.
