Knicks · [GT] Friday 4/22 @ 7pm: Knicks v. Celts, what do we seek? The first win in a four game streak. (page 18)

It took me SEVEN hrs in traffic to get to MSG from D.C.for THIS! I'm not mad but dissapointed in the attitude th team took on. It was just not the game I was hoping for. They didn't have to win...just play smart and give a good effort but you could tell the Team was down from the half. Oh well, I guess we're gonna have to be the first team in NBA history to win a series after being 3-0!

I would start Mason over Fields.

I thought JJ had the best individual performance in this otherwise awful game.

Melo was crowded pretty much every time he touched the ball. Wasn't much he could do scoring wise. Need more talent around him, obviously to alleviate the attention he ganers.

You know what bad players need more talent around them in order to win too....funny how that holds true no matter which end of the spectrum you're on. Go find another Superstar I guess to help the other 2 Superstars

here's what's ironic: First 2 games are slow-down, half court ball and Knicks shoulda-coulda taken game 1 and nearly take game 2 undermanned in a big way.

Game 3 Rivers employs MDA's 3-point shooting, push-the-tempo offense and wins in a blowout.

who knew that would happen?

We have 2 superstars and we did not show up to play this game. I will give my Knicks team a pass. Now next season there will be no excusses. Amare have maybe 4 good years left. We need a point guard. We need a Center. We wont be able to trade for Chriss Paul because we don't have the pieces. We need a big man at the Center spot. I really can't knock D'Antoni he did his best. Weather he stays or goes will be up to the owner.

We're gonna have to buy a couple of picks in the upcoming draft. We have a 1st rounder, and that's it.

D'antoni takes a hit, because he didn't develop his second unit and because he abdicated his rope as coach.

Not seeing concise plays on the defensive OR offensive end of the court.

You mean to tell me that he couldn't find ONE guy in the D league who could dribble and penetrate?

We need to target Faried. Our two biggest weaknesses are rebounding and post defense. Faried does only two things, rebound and guard the post.

d'antoni wouldn't play him

not for nothing, but NY's bench has outplayed Boston's bench for 3 straight games.

truth. many other teams have no bench

this is a superstars league

fields needs to ride the pine.. the guy is giving us nothing but negative play..

Are ray and paul this good, or was our defense that bad.. I watched douglas walk away from pierce with the ball to guard rondo, and let pierce shoot.. I guess our defense is that bad....

melo can't play 1-5. just can't

walker and williams need to start.. they are not scared...

tell dantoni he will play the bigs walsh gets him next year, or he is fired..

We need a PG.. bye bye billups..

Tough time to lose amare..

see ya guys next year..

Paul and Ray are that good as Ray made 8 3s in the Finals last year and Pierce has beaten us in so many ways over the years. But more notably our defense is that bad.

I want us to trade Douglas during the draft for a backup point guard and hopefully a 2nd round pick in 2012. Like pick 28-35 of this summer's draft assuming a guy we want is there.

No excuse for Shelden and Brown not to get burn because simply put WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BY PLAYING THEM

Remember I wanted Walker to start at the beginning of the year and it was for 2-3fold reasons. You can't flava o d day coach like D'AnToni. Players in this system are liable to go 7-9fg one game and then 0fer the next because there's no real flow or scheme to what we do

Amar'e is beat up because the coach beat him up in December and January. We never had a fully healthy $100mil Amare to begin with

Melo is doing what he does, you either love it or hate it

Fields played a particular role in a different system pre-trade. We are at least for this playoffs, a very bad half court basketball team. This is what the playoffs do, they expose

yea, but in the end we are exposed for not having enough talent as well, and as good as melo is, we lost a lot of good depth... but as you said, playing amare out of position all year is starting to take it's toll right now.. billups just mayhave been a bad idea from the start...

we may not even win sunday.. wow..

i kind of expected it, honestly. celtics were playing with house money and pierce always excels in the garden.

Honestly, I don't care what MDA wants, it's about what this team needs. If MDA doesn't understand that then he needs to go.

Thats ffing scary.

EVERY TIME he touched the ball the whole arena let out a collective groan and was completely baffled when he actually connected lol

Well having a closer>greater than depth according to most. Now obviously you more than likely need both but our depth IMO would have showed up big time in this series.

Melo has had 2 very bad performances. Melo is like a great harlot. His playoff history has been a bunch of 1rst round losses and some melt down performances mixed with some great individual ones. When in Denver Melo needed pieces around him to win and he actually had viable pieces to win and now we're working from a much harder vantage point to get those pieces so we can win.

What do Melo and Amar'e need that other players/teams in this league don't need. They are supposed to make things better for others along with this coach not the other way around. But so much has been said for what the ELITE PLAYERS AND COACH need

Rivers has badly outcoached D'Antoni this entire series.

good point.. we were constantly told, get the great player and fill in role players later.. as they are easy to come by.. now I see threads talking about guys like biendrins and even bringing back crawford... haha.. is this what we have come to now? really? for better or for worse we are tied into the improvement of amare and melo... the ability to become "that guy"... on a consistent basis... we shall see...

The Knicks didn't "Lose", they were beaten.

Celts played great tonite. The game from the first minute was a beat down.

MDA get out coached? Naw. Amare was cooked.

Did we over play him this season? Coaches fault?

Naw, 100 mil players should take the minutes. He Hurt his back. Did MDA hurt his back?

Doubt it.

Get real, we are not that good after our big three. Two of our three are cooked.

Be nice to win a game though.

i find this to be a weak-ass post unbridled by any evidence.

Let me start off saying that the big asterisk in this series is no CB and a hobbled Amar'e. Before we go off just killing the team let's remember that fact and how critical that is. I don't how good Amar'e said he felt, you could see he wasn't OK and he took off his support wrap which shows he was far from OK. I'm glad he tried tho. Take away Rondo and KG and see how good they'd be!!!!

The most disappointing thing was the way the defense reverted to the bad D we had been playing in the regular season. We just didn't defend the 3 at all. Guys didn't give 100% to closeout on shooters and that was really disappointing to see.

What stood out to me is our lack of any floor leadership from the PG spot. You can't play a great defensive team and not have great PG play. We never got into any really clear pattern on offense that resembled anything like what we should be doing. So many TO's. The C's came out really aggressive and in that situation you need a steady hand running the team and making sure we get quality looks. Upgrading the PG spot is absolutely PARAMOUNT to the future success of the team.

I would love to have played this series fully healthy. Not having Billups and then effectively losing STAT was a huge hurdle to overcome. I know that some will say not excuses, but come on man, this sucked in terms of the timing. Could you pick a worse time to lose 2 of your best players? To win we needed everything we had.

When the Celtics lost Garnett for the 2009 playoffs they knocked the Bulls out in the 1rst round and pushed the Magic to 7. Billups has always been suspect in your opinion. Not saying we should expect them to win but you absolutely can't perform like that at home.

We look like we normally do during the season....... impress a game or 2 then put on the worst performances in all of sports.... then plead for pity for doom games ahead no matter how many players we swap in and out of MSG

When there is no threat of accountability there is no lasting change for gooderment of the team long term. Yep I said gooderment

I have disconnected from any newspaper or sports site other than this forum so I haven't read any article. But can somebody post their quotes after the game? Was there any indignation, anger and regret, especially after saying they were gonna feed off the fans' energy?

D'Antoni said that there wasn't enough energy coming from the players, that was the gist of his comments that I heard from an exerpt.

Walker is clearly the more ready player over Fields. Been saying this for months...

Billups and Amare breaking down in the first two games against a tough as nails team, just killed us. Worst part is we could still be up 2-1 in this series.

Pierce and Allen obviously had great games, but Doc's strategy of doubling Melo completely ruined our chemistry. Our spacing is horrid and they weren't prepared for it; clear as day.

Without someone to handle the ball, dribble penetrate and finish in the lane, the rest of our guys had to create their own shots. Melo is really the only guy on our team who can do that effectively, and Amare wasn't 100% and they knew it.

IMO, the game exposed our biggest need as PG.

That offensive foul on Bill Walker left me think the Knicks have no chance in hell of winning this game.

Vmart wrote:That offensive foul on Bill Walker left me think the Knicks have no chance in hell of winning this game.

true. And I can tell you that every time Oneal plays defense he is fouling left and right and nothing is called.
