I myself take Kenneth Faried. Undersized but a warrior, and he would get plenty of time at PF in MDA's system.
I voted for Josh Selby. I think he will be very good in the league and we need talent.
I voted for Darius Morris but I'd be happy to take Singleton or Selby as well.
Kenneth Faried is all the rage on this board, but i'm pretty sure he wont be picked, and he really shouldn't be.
He is super raw offensively. Yes he hustles hard for loose balls, and grabs alot of balls in college. But he is a project who is 1 dimensional who plays the same position as one of our best players and is undersized in terms of height and 'girth'. lol. I don't get it. Add to that the fact the he is not a great man to man defender. We can't afford to pick a guy with his skillset. unless he's 6-10+.
i'd rather pick up Gary Mcghee from Pitt than Faried who is much bigger with an already ready NBA frame. On top of that, he may go undrafted, which I think means we could pick him up.
Every bit the rebounder Faried is, in a real big man's body.
Josh Selby seems like a headache, and he really didn't do much in his only year in college. He should be staying.
CHris Singleton is the guy, 6-8 defensive long athletic, and can play multiple positions. has a developing offensive game.
I went with Jimmer. I think he is the perfect PG to play alongside Melo and Amare.
1.faried
2.Singleton
3.Biyombo
4. Markieff Morris
5.Darius Morris
those are my top 5
But it would be tough if fredette falls to us. He would make douglas a trade bait and he has value around the league. But if those 5 are the options left ill go with that order.
Im pretty okay with our point guard rotation with billups/douglas/carter
I really hope we resign carter. He still has game and he has BALLS he wont back down to anyone
I would take a flyer on Darius. We need a playmaker and I think he'll develop his shooting quickly.
As for AC, definitely resign him for a minimum. He's got cajones but he's old, too.
1. Darius Morris 6'4". Improved a ton between freshmen and soph year. Broke single season assist record at Michigan.
2. Faried
Jimmer Amare and Melo on the court at the same time = defensive mess

Totally agree about Faried. He's not a center, so for the time that we have Melo and Stat he is a bench guy.

Shawne Williams gets a look before he does too at the 4 spot....I think the team wants a point guard as we've managed to go through 3 drafts PASSING on many of them.
Plus Billups got extended and is going in for another MRI as we speak

Shawne Williams got looks at the 4 spot cause after trade Knicks didn't have anyone, more a factor of a lame roster than anything.
With Melo and Stat- it be great to have a PG that can set them up, but honest, their talents should be enough to score on their own. We should be able to get by with a PG by committee - Toney Douglas as a kind of Charlie Ward/Chris Childs.
Where we get killed is on the boards. I don't care if Faried is undersized as long as he has the motor and heart to grab boards. Because we really don't have anyone that has that hunger.

completely disagree. Did you see Stat early on in the year? He tried the role of a guy who initiated his own offense and it failed a lot. See him with Nash-type and watch the beauty of the PnR where all Amare has to do is finish at rim or make open jumpshot.
IMHO Faried is nice if you already have a C and need beef off the bench. Knicks need rebounders, but they need defense and PG more.
I'm hoping D. Brown can fill a Faried type role off the bench for the Knicks....hoping they draft a PG.

Before the trade Williams was playing minutes at big rotation with Turiaf off the bench
I think D'AnToni likes to use 3/4 finesse players as bigs or say create a stretch from the 4 spot
Marion
Diaw
Gallo
Chandler
Harrington
Williams
Couple that with his penchant to go small

We can only hope he is in our plans. Things appear quiet at the moment but you gotta wonder what's going on behind the scenes

Yes- I did.
But, with Melo, and a full off season, and new coach
, then I think Melo's play making abilities should be maximized - e.g., lots of action with the two of them on the same side of the court.
Also- we have Chauncy still for one more year.
This is all in - so, with Chauncy, Melo and Stat - we need an inside presence and defense. I think our biggest weakness on defense was giving up additional possessions. Limit that, and I think that is the quickest, easiest way to improve.
That said- I will trust Walsh to make the best pick possible based on talent, and if that is a PG we are developing for the future, then great.
But I don't think we should be picking on MDA and his system and needs, as I think he is gone after this season. Baring miracle.

Isn't he likely to leave? He wasn't happy about being claimed and kept - and then the lack of PT didn't help.
But, I agree, he could be a big help off the bench for us.

MDA's basic system is PnR, this is nothing special, so I don't even put him into the equation. I am talking about Amare and his needs; he needs a guy who can set him up otherwise he is just a jumpshooting big man.
Also, insofar as I can tell, Melo has never been a pass-first or a Scottie Pippen type SF, right?
I don't understand the all-in mentality. Knicks ain't winning any championship next year. It's a building process towards Championship that will likely take 2+ years.
I would like to build this season, but if Paul really wants to sign here for deal that is probably at it's best going to starting at 12 million....... I think the knicks fans can wait unit 2012 to make a real run.
I think the Knicks should draft Morris if we are building this year, but if we are waiting for Paul we should go for a shooting guard like Marshon Brooks. Best case would be to draft both, but that would be tough.
I went with Jimmer. One thing that goes overlooked is that in MDA's system you need a guard that is a constant threat. One of the things that makes Nash so good besides the great court vision is that he's a deadly shooter. Since he got to PHX he's shot 50% and over 40% from 3!!! That is a scary thing for a PG who has the ball all the time and shoots at that kind of clip. So you have to pay constant attention to him and that's why guys are always so open. Teams must be in fear of the PG either driving or shooting at all times. Jimmer is that kind of player.
Yea he's a scorer, but that's the point. You want him to score and be a threat. The other guys will thrive off the attention he gets. I believe he's smart enough to learn from MDA and get the ball to his teammates when teams double him.
