Knicks · Brandon Jennings available? (page 1)

AnubisADL @ 5/21/2011 12:31 PM
Brandon Jennings did reasonably well during his rookie year when he played in all the games. This season he was limited to 63 games and didn't improve as much as was expected. Now word is coming from Cleveland that Jennings could be available.

Mary Schmitt Boyer of The Plain Dealer writes: "The Milwaukee Bucks reportedly would be open to listening to offers for guard Brandon Jennings."

Bucks general manager John Hammond would probably only ship out Jennings if he could include the big contracts of John Salmons or Drew Gooden or Corey Maggette. Hammond would have to get a point guard back in a deal or add one via the draft or free agency.

I know some people here hate Jennings but the guy is a above average young PG who can run the offense. Eating Drew Gooden and Maggette's deal would be worth it. The guy had sophmore slump and serious injury like Tyreke Evans.

With that said I dont see them just giving him away. Unless it is straight salary dumpings of Salmons and Gooden.

Knixkik @ 5/21/2011 12:49 PM
Would be a decent option to go all-in for. Billups, Turiaf, and the 17th pick for Jennings, Gooden, and either Salmons or Magette. Then sign Dalembert.

C Dalembert, Jordan
PF Stoudemire, Gooden
SF Anthony, Magette or Salmons, Williams
SG Fields, Walker, Rautins
PG Jennings, Douglas

No. Just like I said during the draft, all Jennings is, is a less talented Marbury. Nothing has changed. He'll go team to team, burning bridges and be out of the league.

i am not convinced he can run a team. Bucks faltered without Ridnour

Without Ridnour? The same Ridnour that led Minnesota to the worse record in the NBA.

Come on now.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. I don't want to hear this "He has the ability to run a team" bullcrap. The guy is a scorer first plain and simple and that's not what you want out of your PG who is trying to get the ball to Melo and Stoudemire.

Raymond Felton would have been perfect.

Raymond Felton was score first while he was here.

You are better off saying you just dont like that guy.

Last time I checked PG's cant make shots for other guys.

Jennings is only available because they are trying to dump those bad deals they signed over the summer. Jennings has value around the league.

Ridnour is the equivalent of Mike Bibby at this point.

Allanfan20 @ 5/21/2011 1:50 PM
Ray Felton got the ball to where he needed and took advantage of his scoring opportunities. Jennings is simply a score first player.

I don't dislike the guy. He has a place on an NBA roster, but he's not a good fit here. Three score first players in the starting lineup isn't a good mix. You don't have to be an awsome scorer (Which Jennings isn't FTR) at every position.

Jennings is younger and has more talent and upside. But Ridnour is the better PG today; he is no Bibby.

I knew he'd struggle to find how to balance running a team and getting his.

Please show me how a PG who leads a team is 17 wins is the better PG.

Individual ability vs team output: Especially in this case, 1 PG does not make a team.

So you have no proof?

Love and Beasley have more offensive talent than the entire Bucks team.

it's a comparison of abilities, experience, talent.

Proof? when judging 2 players? come on man.

Who cares. 1 PG ran the team with the worst record in the league, the other with the worst offense in the league. That should be proof enough that they both weren't very good for their respective teams and that their teams also sucked.

Fair enough.

I dont think Jennings is best suited to be the 1st or 2nd option on a team. He excels when he is creating for other guys. I think he could easily average 10 assists a game feed Amare and Melo. Plus he'd be getting more open looks instead of forcing contested shots.

Jennings is also an underrated defender.

Nalod @ 5/22/2011 2:00 AM
Jennings has a sneaker deal. That makes him cool.
nixluva @ 5/22/2011 3:44 AM
I don't know what the say about Jennings. He has some talent to be sure. I think that his team was lacking offensive punch and that more than anything dictated how he's viewed as a PG. Not to mention coaching. I think he'd see improvement under D'Antoni much like other PG's have. Felton was better under Mike and there were doubts about his abilities as a PG. It took him a while, but he started to figure it out.

Most PG's see an improvement in % and assists under Mike, so why should I think that this kid wouldn't be able to see some improvement? He's seems to be more of a PG than TD at this point. I can't say that he'd be able to make the full transition, but if anyone can get the MAX out of him it's Mike. As much as people hate on Mike, there's no doubt that he can have an impact on PG's. It's up to them of course how much they take from what he teaches, but usually if the player has PG talent Mike can get it out of them. It's a tough call, but i've seen Jennings make some great passes, so I know he has it in him. It might be the best thing to ever happen to him to end up here with Mike, STAT and Melo. He'd have 2 studs that are GREAT at finishing and scoring and a coach that is excellent at teaching PG's.
