Jimmer has a handle, a slick one, and can create space for his shot which he has crazy range on. Think a bit of steph curry here. I think he might be a good player and I can see why the knicks are intrigued..

I agree. I think the Stephen Curry comparison is spot on, and Jimmer has a better handle and court vision.

interesting... didn't know that.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic but the games that I have watched his handle is sick. He averaged 4.3 assts this year and for somebody who is asked to score all the time I think that it is pretty good. Here is one of many youtube clips of Jimmer. Dude creates for himself off the dribble. He would be deadly in the outside with Melo drawing double teams.

Well that's a lovely highlight reel IF we were looking for a ball-stopping, score-first, maybe 6'2" combo guard who has a good vertical and is effective at getting his own shots. But that wouldn't really fit our need: A playmaking PG who will maximize the scoring abilities of our two stars. This draft, we should try to find our backup PG or a defensive combo guard. Scoring isn't our biggest concern, or even one at all.

SHHHHH you're talking way too loud here

Jimmer is a shot creator, JJ Reddick and Morrison don't have the handle and agility to create like Jimmer does. Jimmer is actually a combo guard. He actually reminds me of Ben Gordon. Same size and build. The only difference is that Jimmer has more PG skills IMO. All of this is pure conjecture. I can't say that he's the guy the Knicks are set on. I'm only saying that if they feel he can run the point then I can understand them wanting to bring him in.

Haven't seen many Jimmer games but from the hi-lights, I got the impression that he got his shots off effortlessly. This translates to him throwing a pass with that same ease. I also saw that BYU was ranked at #3, at one time. It implies that teams were focused on him and he still got his shot off. This kid is no light weight. He'll be an asset anywhere he goes.

I think he's smart enough to realize that if he's on the court with capable NBA players that he won't have to shoot nearly as much. However i'd still expect him to be one of the top shot takers behind STAT and Melo. So long as they still get their shots, I really don't care if he shoots a lot. It's not different than how the Heat play where the 3 Amigos take most of the shots. The thing that bothered me was that it looked like a lot of his passes came as a last resort rather than his 1st thought. Some of the passes I saw came with him in the air and at the basket with no angle to get the shot off. He did make the pass to open players, but he'd have to change that and play more within the offense. I believe he's smart enough to do that just like Steph Curry.

loweyecue @ 6/7/2011 6:30 PM
I don't want Fredette, but it's not like we have anyone on the team that can shoot from outside.
A defensive, rebounding athletic big that can runwill be the dream pick.
Olbrannon @ 6/7/2011 6:41 PM
Dunno if that's really best for the Knicks personally. Maybe the CAA 'and friends' believe it is but no it isn't. I'd move them as GM if it was an option sure....for Tyson Chandler or Deron Williams maybe ....other than that nah. Let them blow up at home. Worst case at the 17 I wind up with Jeremy Tyler, Marson Brooks, Iman Schumpert or Chris Singleton or trade the pick for Mozgov. Don't see a 'gamble' being worth what those 3 are.
nixluva @ 6/7/2011 8:29 PM
If you guys want to see a Fredette Strengths and Weaknesses video, Draft Express has one on this page. It's not a youtube video, but on the page its just under the youtube video of his Combine interview: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jimm...

Just fast forward past his shooting and they show some passing and defense to show +/- of his game in college.

nykshaknbake @ 6/7/2011 8:30 PM

So he's the next coming of Steve Nash who doesn't pass. That'll be fun. He's a good player but doesn't fill PG or big man slots we need.

You should check out the article I posted on Norris Cole in the 17th pick thread.

Jimmer was "the Man" on his team. In that kind of situation, much like D. Rose, he is the best option most times. His teams won and that's what needs to be remembered. It's not that he couldn't pass, but that often he was the best option to score on his team, so it made sense to call his own number. I don't see him as a guy that lacks court vision or accuracy in delivering the ball. He also has a high BB IQ.

To me the biggest knock on Jimmer is his defense. I doubt that his shooting and passing will be an issue.

Nalod @ 6/7/2011 10:28 PM
SOOOOOO, if he spreads the court doesn't that help make everything easier? Even passing?

That mofo can shoot! Pick and roll dreams..............

He's got to do more than knock down shots to stay on the floor.
Don't get me wrong its a talent and skill but he may be decent on a very very good team
however he'll be turnovers waiting to happen as well as abused on defender end,

Basically the word on street is Jimmer has to even be TONs better than he was at college
to last in pros, he has to 're-invent' himself OR he'll be the Adam Morrison v2.0 all
folks are talking about him ending up to be.

He doesnt have luxury to live on fact he's a scorer /shooter he is quick and crafty however
the pros will test him. He needs to be a person who makes them pay for leaving him open &
when he's defending he better learn fast how to get few steals or he's in trouble for getting
quality minutes on any quality team

Who the heck are these people with "the word on the street"? If you realize that Jimmer is actually not slow (he's just as fast and agile as Norris Cole), he has handle and knows how to get his shot off. He's not too small for the PG position at 6-2.5. He's crafty. That's often more important than sheer athletic ability.

Sure he's not going to be a defensive stopper. He's gonna have to work hard to be good in a team concept defensively. He's at least a very strong player. He benched 180 14 times.

The thing is that when a player has the kind of range that he has, he's impossible to stop at all times, cuz there's too much space out behind the 3pt arc. That will indeed make it easier to spread the floor and find his teammates.

TheSage @ 6/8/2011 8:18 AM
Looked at the Jazz board -there is no support for the Jazz to go after Fredette and that may say something. Jeremy Tyler looks like a prospect if the Knx decide to move down and pick up an extra pick or buy a late first.
TymeLessKnicks @ 6/8/2011 8:29 AM
Jimmer could be the one to fall in the draft. If so, I still dont want him on the team.

He solves nothing for the team as we already have good shooters and 2 superstars taking most of the shots.

If we get a pg he must be able to breakdown the defense with his dribble and get to the rim. when the defense collapses, he should possess the ability to find the open man (men). STAT & MELO.

nykshaknbake @ 6/8/2011 10:03 AM
His shooting won't be an issue, but to assume he's a great passer when he hasn't done it in the past is taking a shot in the dark. I like him but he's not what we need most. I'd rather go big with someone like Vuevic, even if he needs some ramping up time. Get a defensive assistant to protect him from Mda and we could be all set.
