Just wondering about the luck people have had watching the Knicks streaming. We are considering canceling our cable but losing hd and the Knicks are sticking points for me. I know Cosmic used to post the games but he is long gone from the forum like many others. Are there any reliable streaming sources?
I used myp2p.eu while I was in Texas, but it seems it's been taken down (or "on hold" as they're calling it) since I last used it. I don't know if it's only temporary or what though.
Justin.tv occasionally had a stream.
Depending on how shortened the season winds up being, you might be able to get a good deal on League Pass.
NBA League Pass Broadband is solid.
Depending on crappy quality streams is a bad idea.
I think they block you from watching games based on your IP address. So you can get a VPN service like StrongVPN to have an IP address in another city to watch Knick games.
My sole purpose for Directv is NBA League Pass in HD so I know the feeling of wasting cash to watch the Knicks.
I have been doing some research on Playon. I haven't made the switch yet but it appears guys set up 'scripts' with channels on them and some are sports based. I know there are some soccer fans here and there seems to be some scripts with a lot of euro soccer available. Playon is very reasonably priced and has a free trial period. I will probably check it out before making the jump from cable. If anyone has tried playon please let me know how you have made out. I may just go with league pass broadband as I don't want to miss any games. I guess I will be out of luck as far as the coaches show goes.
Just a quick bump.
Currently without cable myself, and just came across http://www.finalball.com to watch Game 1 of the ALDS.
Don't know how many streams would be up for NBA when there's several games on any given night, but right now the site's working fine for me, great quality.
Matt, I haven't made the switch yet but I appreciate your advice. I am not sure if you use playon but here is a site to scripts guys have created that you can access with the service for free.

I don't have real cable since I moved to my own place. I have that free apartment building cable that only has over-the-air channels, C-SPAN, public access, TBS & NY1. With roommates splitting the bill was fine, but I can't justify $80-100/mo. for television... I would probably just be watching a bunch of junk all the time anyway.
I really wish they would do a la carte programming or stop the local blackouts on League Pass but fat chance of that. So I would just go over to a friend's place on Friday nights or hit a bar, try to find a stream but that started to become tough... last resort: listen to it on the radio with the NBA Game Time webpage or iPhone app to help me visualize it. And at least the Finals are on ABC.
Listening to Andriese on the radio is almost worse than reading people's take on the lockout.
As an added plus, 1050AM puts out the same signal strength as those highway advisory stations.
+1 on the ala carte TV idea. It's fuhhucking 2011 already, are you telling me this can't be done????
I put aluminum foil in my microwave every day, Gaddammit!!!

Hahaha, I know what you mean. It is funny though when he gets either really excited or really ticked off at something.
