Knicks · Nash is a free agent too at the end of the season (page 1)

He may not be Paul or D.Will but not a bad third choice. Another reason why we need to focus on Dwight Howard. Nash lives in NYC in the off-season and would probably sign straight up as a free agent. Not sure if the Suns are willing to give him the full bird rights extension.
Knixkik @ 12/4/2011 8:44 PM
I've been very supportive of this. Nash will come for mid level money and we will be able to resign our current role players plus add some more depth. Nash wants to win a title and should give it a last chance in new york. Nash, Melo, and Stat is still a great big 3. Fields is the perfect SG for Nash with his ability to shoot and move without the ball. There will be money left over to add depth too. This is the best case scenario that doesn't include one of the major FAs.

Steve Nash is 37 years old man. He cant hang with the young guys physically and would be a MASSIVE liability on the defensive end. He be an ideal PG off the bench though.

Shumpert would make up for Nash's defensive shortcomings. Also a legit Center can cover for him.

I have to agree. In fact, Nash turns 38 in February, meaning if we sign him this summer, we'd have a 39-year-old starting point guard for the second half of next season. If we played the Bulls in the 2013 playoffs, it would be 24-year-old Derrick Rose vs. 39-year-old Steve Nash at the point. !

Steve Nash takes care of his body better than any player in the league. He had a great year last year and I'm willing to be he's playing at 70 percent of his MVP days when he hits 40.

He was aboslutley awesome season on a pretty shit team... don't think either of you watched him play

Even if thats true which isn't anywhere near provable, taking care of one's body can only delay the effects of aging. 39 is 39. Odds are against him remaining health much beyond that. And we don't need 1 way players. If MDA wasnt the coach we wouldn't even be talking about Nash.

If we're gonna overreach for a PG it should be Paul.

to avoid turing this into an argument around semantics, let me alter my original statement to:

Steve Nash takes care of his body better than as well as any player in the league

try googling "the Steve Nash diet" if my word isn't good enough

And who, besides you, said that I prefer Steve Nash to Chris Paul

Knixkik @ 12/5/2011 6:49 AM
People have to just look past his age. The man is a freak of nature. He is not like any 37 year old in the league. The same will go when he's 38, 39, and 40. No one is suggesting a long-term deal. But if not Paul, then Nash is the perfect PG for this team. Shumpert and Douglas will give plenty of depth off the bench to keep his minutes down and put less pressure on Nash's defense.
Markji @ 12/5/2011 9:10 AM
I'd love to have Steve Nash. It might depend on who our coach will be for next year. If D'Antoni is extended, there is a better chance that Nash would sign here.

who says he has to be "the" starting point guard? Nash seems like a very intelligent baller without the huge ego most suffer from. I think he'd be ok coming off the bench as long as he's helping his team.
