He can defend opposing PGs while playing the 2. If he can set up the offense and not hog he ball, then I have no issues with him playing part time PG. We'll see.
"In college Shumpert would get double teamed and he would also have to shoot against opponents’ zone defenses and traps. Now that Shumpert is on the Knicks, alongside Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony, he will not be the focal point of the offense. Shumpert is bound to get more chances to shoot because he will either be open for the shot or he will get one-on-one coverage by his defender."

Totally agree. He is ideal combo guard, who is playing both ends of the court with equal energy and commitment.
Penny like no?
With better D and less scoring

Much better D, scoring he could be similar. What really impressed me that he scored in rhythm and mixed it up by passing it as well. To get a steal off of DWill your first game is pretty impressive. As is having highest +/- on the team your first game

Penny Avg 20 plus and with our scorers he won't get that!
He looks great In game action he was very impressive

He could do what we wanted Crawford for, third scorer. Except he could also commence some shutting down on opposing PG as well. Penny was a great scorer tho, if Iman can get close to his scoring he will be an all- star
Shump is part of the new breed of larger strong and Fast guards in the mold of westbrook, Wall and Rose. Not crafty like Nash, Stockton or Cp3.
Shump will be able to match up defensively athletically which is nice asset to have. Im not sure he can lock these guys down but he will make them work harder. Nobody shuts them down.
We saw he can create but at times he looked like a rookie and thats gonna happen. Not sure what to expect but he will get minutes and and will have some nice vets for him and TD to learn from. Bibby and Baron if they are generous hopefully will teach them a few things.
Kid has upside. Don't cry when we trade him.
I'm in line. We can't trade this kid.

You MUST be talking about trading Toney Douglas because any talk of trading Shumpert is nuts.
The only thing Shumpert can learn from Toney Douglas is which side of the windshield to put his MSG parking sticker on.
Agree. There is no such thing as a "lock down" defender. The elite players will score points. Period. The idea is to make them work for points. The term "lockdown defender" means absolutely nothing.
Iman Shumpert and Baron Davis in the same backcourt for an eight minute shift?
Be still my heart.
The I-man can drive, play d, pass and handle the ball. His shot isn't bad. We did well given where we drafted.
I was the founder of the Iman Shumpert fan club, before most of you guys heard of him. U have no idea how I felt on draft night when we called his name. U have no idea how I felt watching him play in preseason. Its like a dream come true. *wipes tear from left eye*
Seriously, one of my biggest fears was that we would pass him up in the draft and that Miami would draft him. Like 1 - 4 they would be SUPER athletic and when its time for them to turn up the team defense, it was gonna be scary!
I just love the fact that Shump has people fondly remembering Spree, and ensuring everyone that he's not a one-dimensional SG like H2O. Yes, I have a terminal case of Spree man love, so f
uck off.
On that topic, since we seem to be cornering the market on old folks, would anyone be adverse to an Occupy Sign Spree movement?
Can someone ring Jimmie up and let him know how magnanamously big and fat he would look on the rag back pages making a conciliatory move like that?
And once again, I need to point out that my use of big words should more than prove to even the casual poster that I am not Bip.
Shump has a chance to be special... I am getting pretty high hopes for him. More than most young players I've seen. He has something extra... a cool head and amazing athleticism... taking a few bad shots, but I like to see him being aggressive. That pull up bank shot 1 on 4 went in, but that doesn't make it a "good" shot.
Can't wait for the season to start. This kid has a real opportunity with the quality of the players around him. The Celts made Rondo look good, I think these Knicks can make Shump great.
The Answer Man Never Burns Bridges
Q. jrodmc - Can someone ring Jimmie up and let him know how magnanamously big and fat he would look on the rag back pages making a conciliatory move like that?
A. The rag back pages are not for conciliatory stories. Back pages are reserved for hype and gaudy headlines. While every beat writer was coveting Chris Paul as savior, Tyson Chandler arrived at LaGuardia. No one at ANY newspaper saw that coming.
Q. jrodmc - would anyone be adverse to an Occupy Sign Spree movement?
A. Yes. Any parents of children seated courtside the night Spree decided it was appropriate to loudly curse at Dolan every time down the court.
Spree man love is allowed .... and Spree had a nice run but his selfish and vulgar act was too much in his return to The Garden. No matter what, a New York Knicks ballplayer should exude a fundamental level of class. Spree violated that pact and embarrassed himself. Happy trails to former employee number 8.
Shumpert would look good wearing number 8. Man love? Have you checked Shumperts deltoids?
Sheesh.

Deltoids don't get you on the All Star team. Let's see if Shump's got the motor to run 45 minutes a game like Spree did.
As to fundamentals of class pact, I'm guessing you missed the Starphuch era, the ECurry saga, and the Nate the Reprobate episodes... your Spree episode also occurred as part of the Wolves. And we all know what happens when one is being raised by wolves. Speaking of which, class....hmmm....I'm sure the parents of those children sitting courtside who get to watch girls writhing around showing nips and camel toes are severly jeopardizing their role as parents because Spree screamed four letter words at an owner who doesn't exactly exude class...
I am a big fan of Iman Shumpert, but if MDA does not play him until the end of the season, do not get worried. MDA will be bringing him along slowly maybe, like he did with Toney Douglas and the other guy.
Predictions....Spike is wearing a Shumpert jersey at court side this year

jrodmc - Your colorfully illustrated "camel toes" and "nips" say more about your sexual maturity than the class of the Knicks organization. I have never found a woman's body to be offensive.
Stephon may have been crazy, and "get in the truck" may make Bartlett's, but he was charitable and generous. He supported an extended family.
Eddy Curry was never meant to be. He would be better painting watercolors. That is not a character issue. His personal odyssey is more painful than most imagine. Food makes the perfect comfort for lonely, or unhappy, people.
Nate was cool. He worked his ass off. He was obnoxious to some and too demonstrative for others... one does NOT get picked for a pickup game at any playground, or make the quantum leap to the NBA at 5'3, being the shy and silent type.
Spree is gone.
Shumpert is now.

Your incoherent statement above lends further credence to both your inability to read for comprehension, as well as some rather incomprehensible moral compass problems. The question is not about what you find offensive, but rather the fact of exposing children to women who are exposing themselves. So scantily clad women writhing in front of your kids is not offensive, but four letter words are? Interesting. Your maturity level has obviously evolved incredibly beyond mine. Hope your 5 year old enjoys his birthday party at the local strip joint. Hopefully there's a language monitor in the bar to keep things from getting offensive.

Or by picking classy places to urinate, pardon the pun.
Again, bastions of class, each and every one.

No, there was another rookie that he didn't bring in until late in the season, but I can't remember.
Aha, it was Chandler. He didn't get serious burn until February, March of his rookie year.
But this wasn't MDA, was it? Still, it was the Knicks.
