Should Steve Novak clear waivers after Spurs release, New York will likely sign him to a guaranteed deal for season, sources tell Y

'Is Steve Novak signed? He's another decent stretch-4 to consider.'

I posted this only hours ago in the thread titled (who should the knicks sign next.)

Is this my chance to claim i have sources or something?

So what happened to Posey? Did he sign already?

he sucks.

loweyecue @ 12/19/2011 8:44 PM
Well yeah, but I thought the Knicks had already shown interest in him.

Good fit for dantoni, dude shoots the lights out. Wish he could rebound a little. Our second unit is not the strongest on the boards

it gets stronger if you put landry there. also, jorts is a good rebounder.

Steve Novak can shoot the hell out of the 3. This could be a sneaky good pickup.

Exactly, I think Landry is best for the second unit.

Boston Globe is reporting that the Celtics don't want Posey.
That tells me that he's done.

I watched the you tube videos on Steve Novak
and came away impressed with his shot from downtown.
Agree that he's not a rebounder, but he can play the 3 and 4 positions
which is what we need at this point. He plays a Euro-type game.
He'd be a great replacement for ExtraE.

Yep.

this is an excellent pickup if grunwald can swing it. novak is the prototypical d'antoni 4 and now that we got guys like chandler/amear/jordan we can have a guy like this come off the bench and perform a specific role.
MSG3 @ 12/19/2011 10:45 PM
He just tweeted that he's a Knick. So I guess he's our replacement for Shawne.
gunsnewing @ 12/19/2011 11:06 PM
is he worth the full 2yr $5mil? or did we sign him for the $1.4 vet min?
gunsnewing @ 12/19/2011 11:10 PM
Anyone who takes away minutes from Jared Jeffries is ok in my book

Apparently, this is NOT for the 2.5 million room exception....according to reports....

he'll do the same things as shawn offensively, but a little bit better. he is nowhere near the defender that shawne is though...

So he wasn't amnestied, just released, right? Because it would be a 48 hr wait for him to clear waivers. He says on his twitter that he is headed to NY. If so, this is a great pickup for our bench. Fits D'antoni's system and brings 3pt shooting we really needed.

If / when this is confirmed, we would have transformed our bench from weakness to strength. Grunwald should win excecutive of the year.
