oh, you're right, amar'e looks fine.
i'm saying this because i'm concerned. and i have seen no evidence this season that amar'e is fine or right or whatever.
Amare is fine. We saw this last year. When he puts the ball on the floor and tries to force the issue it leads to turn overs. Amare is a finisher not play maker.
It's not Amar'e. Its the PG.

He needs the pick and roll.
Maybe Nash becomes available at the trade deadline

He'll definitely be available but we have nothing to offer...

we have nothing to trade for nash. pray for baron.
He looked fine on his dunk against Lee in the first half!
I see a theme this morning and it is POINT GUARD needed.
Seeing how the first 2 games have gone, Chandler or Paul? What was the right call?
^Was wondering the same...
misterearl wrote:"Like I said the guy looks jacked."AnubisADL - What da hell does that mean? Jacked? C'mon...
The only thing Amar'e needs is more than three NBA games with Tyson Chandler and more than 32 games TOTAL with his running buddy, Carmelo Anthony. 32 games is not a half NBA season.... anyone who knows hoops KNOWS that for a new shiftline to bond on the court might require more than one regular season game. There are Rucker League teams who have been together for more than 32 games.
A lead guard who can deliver the ball to Stoudemire where he likes to operate would not hurt either.
Miami is still learning a premium pace to rum and have fun with, and they have been together a full season. The Knicks are still strangers. That will be the case until February and then it changes again if Baron Davis is ready. The delicate balance shifts again. Trust will require time.
Hopefully, B Dizzle is saving his mental notes on his iPad.
Jacked - very strong, huge muscles

The guy looks bigger in the upper body than last year. Amare was always cut but he looks bigger this year.
Wasn't Amare supposed to have worked on his handling in the offseason? He had a couple ugly turnovers tonight when he decided to dribble past his man.
I am not impressed with Amare whatsoever. To be honest, I feel he's always been a Top 25 player (in the 20's range) and nothing more, yet carries himself like a superstar. The guy can't create his own shot, doesn't play D, isn't a good passer, and makes inept decisions on the floor at times.
He can stroke the mid to long-range jumper, he can throw down off a pick-and-roll, and is excellent at drawing the foul. Other than that... I just don't know.
Amar'e NO LIFT WHATSOEVER on that drive to the middle - Gasol blocked him. Last year that would have been a dunk - easy. yeah. he looks fine. sure.
People seem to have forgotten that Amar'e didn't have much time to actually play ball during the offseason- that back injury took ages to heal, then he had to have a month of complete rest in September/October. It's no surprise he's rusty as hell. Add in the facts that if he's not hitting his jumper, defenders can easily take away his drive, no one on the team seems capable of passing successfully, and we have no PG, and it's no wonder Amar'e looks the way he does now.
I will say that he should have worked on some sort of post game by this point in his career- putting on the muscle he has done is absolutely pointless if you don't rebound, don't post up, don't play defense and instead just shoot outside jumpshots- how is that going to utilize extra strength? if anything, all it it seems to be doing is slowing him down. It's strange- Amar'e seems to have the attitude of a great post player, but no skill in that area what so ever- why did D'Antoni never get him to work on it in all the years he's coached him?
Anyway, see how he is next month- a lot of you will save yourselves anguish if you just look on the first 3 weeks of the season as preseason, then see where we are once BD gets back- it's going to be rough until then.

Because there is no such thing as post play in a MDA offense. See Melo who rarely posts up anymore
Amare has a sprained Ankle

I can't wait til we have a different coach- D'Antoni is great at what he coaches, but what he coaches is only 1/4 of what basketball actually is.

He needs to put the ball on the floor quicker... Get it and GO!
Dude waits for one second and the play is predictable.
I have no problem with him driving, but giving help defenders time to reach is where he gets himself in trouble.

Yeah, Amar'e didn't lose his athleticism. He's a slow decision maker when he's relied on to be a one on one player and he tends to turn the ball over a lot when this happens. He dribbles right into triple teams and this kills the team. This wasn't his game in Phoenix. His best assets are the range jumper (Not sure why he's not shooting these a lot the past 3 games) and the pick and roll. Tyson has no beeswacks running the pick and roll when Amar'e is out there. Amar'e is one of the best finishers in the league and a good free throw shooter. If this continues to be Tysons role, then I'm going to really start considering pulling the plug on my support for D'Antoni. This isn't smart basketball.
For the record, if you can't run the pick and roll b/c our PGs can't do it, then do it with Melo. It will create more havoc anyway, at least until Baron comes (If he's healthy.)

I've been shocked that they haven't tried this. I can only speculate that they've tried it in practice and it worked out poorly.
I'm watching him and he's blowing by guys as easily as he did in the past. To me he just looks out of sync. Maybe there is some underlying injury but until he says it I have no reason to believe that there is. His quickness looks great. Our lack of training camp hurt guys like Amare who were hurt for much of the offseason. They now have to play themselves back in to rthym.

I think you're right. He may have lost some explosiveness but he's still one of the most explosive PFs in the league.
