Well, that pass from Lin was nicer than any pass I've seen thrown by a Knicks PG so far this year. Not saying much, but not bad considering he penetrated and dished in traffic... and he was only out there for a minute.

I have actually seen Toney make two nice passes in the Boston game...Better then the pass u were referring to..

So now you're going to piss on Lin cuz he got thrown into a losing game and didn't look like Steve Nash? Why not look with a bit more insight and notice that the kid even in that short time showed he can get into the lane and see a pass? How often does TD stop 5-10 feet from the 3pt line and look to pass from long distance? It's the most infuriating thing to watch. TD is scared to penetrate!!! I don't believe anyone have ever said that about Lin. I think the kid will be helpful with time to show what he can do.

So your point is tony is your preference at point guard?

Of our current roster of who is available, yes...TD is not a PG, said so many times...U can't bring a guy in who only real playing time is the D league and think he can direct Amare and Melo in an offense against the likes of Rondo...Any good rook would have trouble doing that...
There is n reason a Knicks point guard should not average 8 assists per game in the Dantoni system, such as it is. Even chris duhon got it. Ray Felton got it. Toney Douglas does NOT get it. He is too enthralled by shooting threes to run an effective TEAM offense
lebron has not attempted a three this season because he understands there is something beautiful about getting closer to the rim. Why can't Douglas move forward instead of retreat?
Jerky lin showed more in 90 seconds, with one drive, than Douglas has shown in two games

I hope you were one of those who made a point for Douglas to get playing time when
had him sit on the bench around his rookie year. Because if you are, you should also be cheering for someone else to step up cause Douglas is not doing the job at the moment.

I'm not pissing on anyone, I just not starry eyed as most of you about the kid...The kid is a long shot to make it here...TD stinks running the team but he has value here...TD is most qualified guy to run the team when u take experience, age, to go with the hectic schedule...Felton stunk as well at the beginning of the year..

They are not running the typical MDA system...
misterearl,

We are trying to compete with LeBron James, DWade, Derrick Rose and the rest of the studs of this conference...U guys want to hang your hat on a third string guy be my guest...This kid is a long shot to make the team much less get time...Each win now has meaning...What we are gunning for now isn't what we were gunning for three years ago...We need players that can help now...We don't have time to develop guys...Shrump hit the ground running, exactly what we need...

All I am saying give it a chance much like TD got a chance late in his rookie year. As far as what you say each win now has meaning due to shortened season, I don't think you can say Boston is in panic mode?

Starry eyed is a bit of a reach when you consider our choices. We have a great scoring guard in Douglas who looks terrible playing PG. And we have a 40 year old in a 33 year old's body in Bibby. He ain't getting any better, what you see is what you get. With Lin, he has a great history, he's intelligent, he can shoot (he did up till he got limited minutes in GS.), he can defend, he can pass, etc. He is a very good all round player. No doubt in my mind he does better than TD does and I like TD, just not at PG.
Felton was new to the team, TD has been on this team for two years - really bad comparison. Not to mention, Felton is actually a PG.
So, when you say the kid is a long shot to make it here, I don't get it. We almost drafted Lin cause he fit this style and for the reasons I already stated. He has talent. If you couldn't see it from his brief time on the floor, then look to his GS clips or better yet to his college clips. Not the best judge of talent but if you watch you can see a cerebral and athletic enough PG.
We aren't and haven't been going any where with Douglas at PG, we might as well start now with a replacement. Little to lose.

Everyone looks great in clips...I bet u can get clips of TD and u think he is a star...I looked at his game log when we first got him and see he didn't get much time on a team that was going nowhere and who was about the run and gun...I didn't see any great games you were referring to...People never know how a college player translate at this level...If he has game, he will get minutes...Then he should be burning up TD and Bibby in practice...If he doesn't get burn, I not going to sweat it...We need time to gel with the guys who are going to be here...This isn't the time to experiment with a kid with no track record...Shrump proved his case in practice...How about the kid prove his case in practice...I just think it's a bit much to call for playing time for a kid that has been with us one game..

TD's PG skills are at the D-League level. So what difference does it make if Lin spent time in the D league?

No one has suggested Lin is a sure thing or a savior or even a good NBA PG. the point is he is still better option than TD at PG. all he has to do is walk up the court with the ball and dump it to Melo with > 30% accuracy and he will already be better than TD at playing the point. Sometimes you need to find which of several bad options is the best fit and this is what
needs to do.

Exactly
it's not whether the Knicks win or lose, it is how they play the game
our offense needs to be aggressive,... with Toney Douglas it only retreats
Are we still taking about Jeremy Lin?
Panos wrote:Are we still taking about Jeremy Lin?
A. Absolutely.
Give him the keys. What is there to lose? The first thing Lin does is drive inside. So what if the layup doesn't go, that is what we want.
We"re talking bout Lin. Not Toney Douglas. Not Douglas. We talking bout Lin.
