Is it possible to give him 10 minutes? Ok ok, just messing around with you guys. Is it possible to give him 5 minutes? Ok, ok I am just pulling your leg again. Could we give Lin 3 minutes and 45 seconds, but in a real game scenario? Not garbage time? How much worse can it get? Does TD play 48 minutes? How about when Toney goes to the bench we put in Lin? Seems like a reasonable request? I bet its not going to be worse.
CrushAlot @ 12/31/2011 3:03 AM
I don't think it hurts to give Lin some run. Look at what Ish Smith did against the Knicks. The Knicks have always been stuck on big names but the lesser known guys are contributing to this team. Both Jorts and Fields are second round picks. Shawne Williams was a retread with questionable character. It wouldn't hurt to give Lin some run. In the past Lin has been a penetrator, if he can do that for the Knicks and get the defense to clapse it would be a huge boost to their offense.

Toney Douglas does the opposite of what a lead guard should do. He makes his team mates worse.

At least Jeremy Lin has the sense to make the pass and move without the ball, instead of standing there, looking around for another three.

BTW, Douglas is shooting 13 per cent from three. 13%. D'Antoni should ban him from taking that shot.

Free Jeremy Lin.

I still say Agent Zero is a great option, cheap, willing, a vet, experienced PG who can run the P & R
nixluva @ 12/31/2011 2:42 PM
There will be plenty of time to work Lin into the mix. I'm not really worried. Fans have to find a way to be patient even tho it's shocking how bad the team has played the last 2 losses. No one is shooting well except for Melo. That's not going to be the case all season long. Lin needed to get some practice in with the team and I think that should help him to feel a bit more comfortable but still you can imagine that one practice isn't a lot of time to figure things out. So patience is needed.

I think there is a reason Agent Zero is not on any team.

Frankly, there really ISN'T much time to work him in.
From what I'm hearing, coaches are treating practices like shoot-a-rounds
due to the crazy schedule....trying to avoid physical breakdowns....
So, you tell me....how in the world can LIN show his stuff?
Getting thrown into the game with 1:30 left in the 4th quarter isn't the way.
I'm really afraid that LIN will just be here for a cup of coffee until Shump gets back
and then he'll be jettisoned without ever really knowing how good he could become.
That would be a crying shame.
Typical Knicks myopia.

For my money, LIN should be the first PG off the bench RIGHT NOW...ahead of that fossil BIBBY...who has shown me absolutely nothing (even less than TD if that's possible).

GIVE JEREMY LIN SOME MEANINGFUL PT ALREADY!

I agree lin should at least get a shot. but i dont think douglas is the main proble. I mean the whole team looks like crap

LOL. I still can't quite wrap my mind around that.

loweyecue @ 12/31/2011 6:49 PM
Lin will get a shot if he shows he deserves it or when MDA has enough of Death By Douglas. Whichever happens first. Obviously MDA is more patient than rest of us, even with TD.

You have to calm down a bit. This will be the 1st game that Lin will have after having ONE practice session. Before this game there weren't any practice days for Lin to get any coaching on what the team is doing. While things are bad there's no reason to just put the kid in a bad spot with no idea of what the plays are. He got a chance to pick up some basics, so now maybe he can get in there and do a little something.

We will be watching many high post isolations tonight... Whoever is running the point only needs crisp entry passes.

LOL - Have you even watched the games, nixluva? Jeremy Lin got into the paint both games with very few minutes of PT (and no practices) to do so. Now tell me honestly....how many times have you seen Tony Douglas do that this year? Giving LIN playing time is not "putting him in a bad spot". He SHOULD be getting Bibby's minutes and then some. Let's see what he can do already! Conversely, giving huge minutes to a player who is not a natural point guard like Douglas absolutely IS "putting him in a bad spot." Our starting point guard should easily average 8 assists per game. Please explain to me why Douglas has trouble getting 4 (in over 30 minutes of PT per game)! Geeeeez.

Agreed TD is a chuck-first artist, but when your team shoots 30% it's not exactly a formula for catching up to Stockton. Is anyone tracking assist attempts per game?

DurzoBlint @ 1/2/2012 2:06 PM
Childs2Dudley wrote:Douglas is the same player he was in his rookie year. There has been no progression in his game.

Agreed. If anyone has recorded the games, watch how often he runs down court (passing to no one) only to chuck up a bad shot. It totally ruins the offensive flow and many times led to a fast break for the opposing team.
