Knicks · In Chandler, we paid the highs... (page 1)

holfresh @ 12/29/2011 10:59 AM
Ten years in the NBA and as a 7 footer he doesn't have one post move??..Not a jump hook in the lane, Not a turn around, nothing??...His blocks shots numbers aren't impressive either, alittle better than 1 per career??...I mean Wilson Chandler had similar block shot numbers if not better last year...6 boards in two games, COME ON MAN!!!!...It's early, the team is getting their sea legs...I'm really not worried...Just saying...13 mil per for this dude is a bit much...We paid the highs...
MarburyAnd1Crossover @ 12/29/2011 11:04 AM
He fit well with the Mavericks team and they rode their chemistry to a championship.

As a stand-alone for 13 million, he looks much less attractive.

Smart move by Cuban; Knicks fleeced again?

MarburyAnd1Crossover @ 12/29/2011 11:09 AM
It's just crazy to hire Mike D'Antoni and then ignore the point guard position for the coach's entire tenure.

You hire D'Antoni, finding a point guard is your first priority.

You can't hire D'Antoni and put band-aids at the point guard.

Bklynblaze @ 12/29/2011 11:15 AM
Sadly I agree. He shows nothing offensively but that's not really why he was brought here. It's way to early to judge this guy. First game he was a force with 6 blocks and last night he was in constant foul trouble.
MS @ 12/29/2011 11:17 AM
They also lost Stevenson, Butler and JJ. Tyson was a piece an important piece, but highly overated. Bringing this kid is was a big risk. He's career numbers are medicore and let's not forget that this guy has been traded in three seasons for trade exceptions.

He's the center of Jared Jefferies with better hops.

crzymdups @ 12/29/2011 11:22 AM
Chandler will be fine, he's not a stats guy. When he was in in the first half, our defense looked great. When he got into foul trouble in the second half, our defense collapsed. Warriors scored 55pts in the second half after getting like 36pts in the first half.
Gymkata @ 12/29/2011 11:40 AM
Geez, we're a fickle bunch. The man has a proven track record and is a champion. Three rebounds per game will not be the norm. Signing Chandler was the opposite of "starph**ing," to use a term that has long run its course. Sometimes you can't win.

And yeah, Cuban sure did fleece us. Look how dominant those Mavericks look!

Knicksfan @ 12/29/2011 11:41 AM
Chandler, more than Amar'e, needs a point guard to get him any offensive play. He is ready to score off penetrations, which have been absent because of the PG play. I believe he will last in games when we solve the chaos we have offensively.

And it was finally working when we found Felton

Assuming we didn't get Chandler, and had the cap space for the offseason, who would you sign instead out of 2012's unrestricted free agents? Cross Deron Williams and Dwight Howard off the wishlist as they'll be elsewhere, and remember we would only have had about 13 mil.

RonRon @ 12/29/2011 12:19 PM
he fitted right on the system, more importantly they have one.
watching STAT and Melo chuck one after another is like watching Crawford 2.0
Chandler can't make the team play better alone as i hope, he can only entice to team.
There are just too many things wrong, i dont know where to begin...

1)We don't play as a team.
a) not good spacing, use of picks, cuts, penetration, ball movement
b) all we do is isolation, especially when only Amare or Melo go to the bench, just 1 playing.
c) we really need someone with the ability to penetrate and initiate the offense

2) Chandler isn't as big of an impact as I hoped
a) we need an more athletic big, not sure if Jordan fits this or not with his limited PT.
b) We need a C/PF that can play both positions, Sean Williams/Fesenko are both gone, do we go back to Hunter?, Jorts isn't that athletic big that we need. He will be used against real centers/big men. Is Ak47 watching, think he can play this role we need. I believe Euro League is ending soon.

3) TD,Fields both are not PGs/SGs, or Starters
a) they are not play makers, with Amare or Melo, they are both scorers that can make a play every now n then

I'll say it better: Amare more than anyone on the team needs a PG to get him the ball in the right spots for the offense to not be stagnant and for him to not be a black hole 1-on-1 guy. When in that mode Amare becomes devastating and in turn makes outside shooters better and scrap guys like Chandler effective on the offensive glass or on lobs.

Um, This. PG makes Amare better. Amare better makes everyone better. Melo doesn't really need any of this to be better but it would help.

Agreed to that as well.

Of course a PG makes Amar'e better. But when talking about Chandler's production, he more than any other main part of this team depends on a PG to score. Also, a more organized offense improves our defensive positioning and avoids Chandler being in foul trouble.

I would not have offered him 13 mil per...Maybe 8-9 mil with have enough space for other signings...Do you think he is a 13 mil per year player?

After two games, your right.

But that was his market value. Are any of them "worth it"?

On nites they win it is.

Before Chandler played here, did you know he had zero offensive game other than the alley hoop?

knicks1248 @ 12/29/2011 4:39 PM
Idk about you guys but in the first half GS couldnt get to the rim..

Get used to Amare taking a lot more jumpers..I mean I can see clearly that tyson clogs the lane rightfully so..I also see Amare coming off screens .. the dude has played for mike long enough to know that if you are a PF and can't shoot jumpers in this system..your dead.

Michael6835 @ 12/29/2011 4:54 PM
Sigh, 2nd game and we are doom and gloom. He is exactly what this team needed, a defensive minded center, was the best available and we got him. Not to beat a dead horse, but we have back court issues which is causing problems on offense and on defense. Td and Landry are bench players at best, they start for us, there lies the problem
