Knicks · Carmelo trade killed the future (page 5)

It would have been bad business for Melo to sign with us as a FA with the lock out looming and he had no idea what the collective barganing agreement would look like. Turns out, had he waited, he would have missed out on a ton of money being that FA's can sign with a new team for a yr less than before.

In order to win big in this league, you need stars. We have one now. Much easier to put pieces around a star player than it is to find that elusive star player (outside of the draft) and add him to your pieces...

same boston team missing pierce came back to almost beat the Heat in miami, too. beating boston counts for something.
The trade sets up a core that allows you to always be one key addition from title contention. Sure we don't have every slot filled with a premium guy, but there's still time to improve the roster around our core. We still have our Room exemption to use.

So far we were sept in teh first round and are 1-2 so far so i'm hoping we will get the better of teh trade but people need to be a little honestThe trade sets up a core that allows you to always be one key addition from title contention. Honest is we have the best front line in the NBA. In additon we have a starting PG healing up and 2 pretty good rookies in Jorts and Shump. Oh yeah we also have a project C ala Mozzy. We're now 2-2 and have 62 games left. This team is going to be special and a hell of a lot better than what we had. Gallo is still a project as far as I'm concerned as witness by his wide open blow lay up to tie the game aginst the Lakers today.

It's going to take time. Bashing them based on 30+ games last year and 3 this year isn't all that fair. 2 pre season games 1 solid win, 2 crap games followed by another solid win. This team is going to be legit just can't wait to have everyone healed up.

Please correct me if I am wrong. What we gave up for Melo is a sh!tton. But we still got the better end of the deal. So we turned a bunch of good players into a star player. Or maybe you don't think we got the better end of the deal? Other teams would not give offers as good or better than us? Or maybe you are just simply saying that we could have gotten him for less?
If you think we gave up too much and got less in return, I can only shake my head and I will not even argue because everyone knows it takes stars to win. If you are saying that we could have gotten him for less than what we paid -I applaud you. Good observation, you might be right. Or you might be wrong. Either way it would probably be a bad idea to find out in real life. But hindsight is always 20/20.

Either way it would probably be a bad idea to find out in real life. But hindsight is always 20/20.
There was no guarantee he would come here...The people closest to the situation didn't think he would come...It's silly for u to think u know better...

I mean lebron as much as i hate him could have made double if he wanted. i mean if we signed melo we would have depth and we could have used those pieces for either dwight or paul
We'll just have to agree to disagree...We are a better team now than we were before the trade IMO...
Last years team doesn't beat Boston on Christmas..This team is better. No, we haven't looked good over the last 2 but I still believe we are better...
Have you not seen how bad this aging Boston team without Pierce is?

Thgey looked pretty good against Miami. Lost to N.O mainly because they were on the end of back to backs...Lets not act like Boston wont be one of the top 4 teams in the east...
