Knicks · The official F.U. Landry Fields thread (page 2)

No, you would not.

Play Lin.

You are one of those people that read a book of material and form an opinion based on the way they used a semi colon midway through the book.

In other words I'm wasting words

Watching League Pass is instructive. From 5-12 the Knicks may have the least talent in the NBA.

Same could have been said about the Heat last year. Somehow they stumbled their way into the finals. Regardless of the talent gap, everyone guarded, everyone knew how to show, help and recover. All of the Heat players seemed well schooled on the defensive principles....

Dantonis offense is a philosophy....guys are supposed to rotate to spots and play their game. The Knicks don't run alot of plays every time down the floor. This is why Shumpert is excelling...he's just playing basketball. The other guys are stuck trying to fit in and not talented or brazen enough to just play.

I believe Baron will settle things down...he will add 15/7 easy and guys will fall into the roles they need.

Landry needs to come off the bench as a small fwd. I like walker as the goonie off the bench at the 2. Lin needs to get burn in real time too. Get him 15 mins at least behind dand sometimes next to TD.

Good point about the system, in that case players are not being responsible meaning nobody is controlling the flow (pg not setting up) or the players are thinking to much right now.

EnySpree wrote:He's not built for the lights at msg. Too much evidence. Too many lame excuses....he needs to go and florish elsewhere. Make a lateral trade for someone with the gonads to play this game wit heart and pride...desire! He plays like he is afraid to stand with men. Get him outta here!

Landry played confidently and well last year. He was the second best rookie in the league for more than half of his first season. Landry's game falling a level was directly related to Melo's emergence in a Knick's uniform. Melo gets a pass and looks to see if he can score mainly. (Unfortunately the ball also currently seems to stop in Amare's hands much more than it did last year).

If you are convinced that the crappy way the Knicks are running the offense so far this year will continue throughout the year, I guess I can't argue with your desire to get rid of Landry Fields. But if Melo wants to win very badly, and hopefully our slow start helps persuade him eventually to become a more unselfish passer, then Landry's value to the Knicks will increase dramatically. You will notice a direct relationship between unselfish passing and a highly productive Landry Fields. Bottom line, trading Landry before we see what changes occur to the Knicks offense once Baron Davis starts playing the point would be premature and even foolish imo.

Definately

Melo the point fwd? Its not natural to his game. Melo can play anywhere and in any style but you can't run the offense totally through him. He needs time to float and gather his own rythmn. Toney is not a rythmn guy. He's a effort dude. He's not good at tempo and directinggb guys. He has trouble finding his own direction cuz that's his game.

Its mad frustrating to watch...but Baron will force dantoni to cut the bullshit and run the team like he did in the past...I just pray he doesn't get into this bullshit about leaving guys in the second unit to spark offense off the bench. Toney will do just that as soon as Baron Benches him....I pray Shumpert is in the starting line up tomorrow with walker and Lin backing them up and not Landry. Landry should be behind melo and only Melo as a back up 3

Is winning basketball about making shy players happy? Is winning basketball about having the 3rd best scorer in the league pass to the leagues current worst shooting guard in the league?

I agree we gotta wait for Baron....but the Knicks shouldn't wait to put Landry on the bench. Nobody should be hand held through this. I can go in about Amare pulling his David lee impersonation on defense too but were talking about Landry. Dude needs to be benched asap with walker and Lin getting the minutes off t he bench at guard.

Landry needs to be put in Shawne Williams old roll.

Anyone have a tangable solution to the tangable problem?

"FU LANDO" is great, but what is the solution?

Trade him for lateral value? What is that anyway?

So what is his replacement? Some mystical being that is bonafide improvement?

"Start Shump"!

Shump is an athletic nice young player. He is out of control, erratic, and currently not passing worth a dam.

"Start Shump"......What? Until his warts start to show? Then trade him?

Shump is a high energy player in a slow system right now. I think he does a good job bringing energy to the second unit.

Lets bring him along, solidify his minutes in the rotation.

Anyone notice how JOrts can't jump for a rebound or hit a shot unless its a 3?

NIce 7 minute player.

What if Baron never gets healthy?

Get Lin burn? Is he the answer? How do we know?

"Better than what is happening"! Maybe, or could be worse.

"at least we tried"! Could be.

"Fire MDA"! Ok, Woodson is then the guy to do what?

"hire Jax"! We know he wants to come back to coaching? We know he likes our roster?

"anything better than MDA! no more exuses"! True, no more excuses, but there are reasons.

"FU Fields" is the new "TD Sucks"

Get Fishlips back. All will be well then. We'll have someone tangible to truly hate who's a sucky athelete and almost dumber than a post.

"M. Bibby - DNP-CD" Hmmmmmm no comments. Perhaps we start a thread titled "what the UK fanbase can all agree on"

Landry is playing badly because he is a team player trying to contribute the way MDA taught him along side a couple of selfish scorers who are not passing the ball around. The fact that Landry didn't cause the problem is sad. The right solution to Landry's problem is for Melo to stop dominating the ball and begin sharing it much more. When Melo is having a bad day, why is he allowed to keep shooting.

It begins to look to me that MDA is afraid of correcting the way Melo is currently playing? Anyone else get that idea also?

He's not the decision maker keeping him on the floor. Ultimately, that's D'Antoni. Perhaps the unfortunate thing for the Knicks is (at least at this point) that he's the best SG on the Knicks roster... that is, until he's officially displaced by Tony Douglas or Iman Shumpert!

I think Shumpert showed in the last game that he has the potential to be frighteningly good - all of his 18 points came in the flow; not much felt rushed about his game - he reacted well to what the defense was giving him. Perhaps the Wade comparisons may not prove to be that far off!

(To be fair, the sample size is extremely small with Shumpert. Landry Fields had a big night 3 games ago - dropping 21pts, 5rbds... after that, we were hopeful in declaring Fields back on track.)
