He's not built for the lights at msg. Too much evidence. Too many lame excuses....he needs to go and florish elsewhere. Make a lateral trade for someone with the gonads to play this game wit heart and pride...desire! He plays like he is afraid to stand with men. Get him outta here!
He just needs to be moved to the bench and have his mins reduced. He also needs to play back-up SF because he's mainly a baseline player, not a perimeter player....

I can't believe a lot of people were more willing to keep him than Gallo out of that Melo deal....
In all fairness though, I really like how Fields plays the game as he is a team player but I just think he is a bad fit for the SL unless he is making his shots (which he clearly isn't right now). Guys like Amare and Melo need shooters around them and although Fields was hitting that outside shot last year pre-Melo deal, not sure that he can keep that up for a long period of time. Pre-Melo deal, I think he fit in very well because we already had a bunch of shooters in the lineup and the spacing we had back then coupled with the unselfishness on offense really fit his game.
I think Landry is much better suited coming off the bench at this point and I'm guessing D'Antoni will have to try that soon now that Shumpert is back. Either way, too early to give up on Landry as a player at the beginning of his 2nd year in the league.....

I think there is a fundamental difference in what Uptown and you propose! Im with Uptown here, Lando is just not in the right role, but at the right team!
Really dude...He goes from being a steal in the draft, to GTFO in only a year..wow.
This thread should have been dedicated to TD, Who is just a 6th man at best, and will never ever have PG skills, and should never be considered a combo guard..I believe the only reason he's considered a combo guard is his height.
There's no way in hell a real PG wouldn't gush( ask BDiddy) over playing with two of the top 10 scorers, and a athletic center who relishes ally oops..In a system that gives him total control..Fckng TD had 5 ast and 4 TO's last night..WTF, this dude is blind as a bat, and reacts like a freshman in college, missing wide open guys, then passing to guys late or too early.
We will suffer all day without good PG play, and we all know it. If the Bobcats scored 118, we should have scored 127, cause we have that much fire power to overcome our defensive liablities
Everyone looks like crap when team loses.

I mean the evidence is there for Landry. Yeah he was a steal before melo...but what happened to the dude just because melo is around? I would trade him now but realisticly he needs to go to the bench immediately and back up the dude he's scared of and that's Melo.
As far as Tony....he is what he is. At least he plays wittgh heart and doesn't give up. He definately is a 6th man.
Baron Davis will solve the PG prob...Shumpert already solved the shooting guard spot

You can see Landry thinking way too much. He's hesitant and unsure. Having him come off the becnch will relieve pressure. I think he feels the heat of bieng a part of the weak link backcourt and is trying too hard and rushing to prove he belongs. Might also feel Shump breathing down his neck. To be fair to him, though, needs help to score and be affective. Douglas aint helping no body score anything. With Douglas, you are on your own....

FU Landry Fields is a bit strong. How about FU EnySpree?
Landry Fields is NOT the problem. He is one of the few guys who plays with his head up. The flaws in his shot mechanics are correctable.
Basketball is a team game and what is wrong is everyone's problem. Finger pointing gets us nowhere.
With that said, the core problem is selfish basketball on both ends. The wrong shots being hoisted at the wrong time. The wrong guy NOT picking up the right shooter. Adding Baron Davis to a toxic mix is not a solution. He is not a solo solution any more than Patrick Ewing was a solo solution.
It ain't so deep that it warrants a FU for ANY single Knicks player... you win as a team and lose as a team... although Toney Douglas is severely testing that patience.

TD plays with heart, give me a smart player over a player with all the heart..
When felton was the PG, he would always find fields in the corner for a 3, at the elbow for a 3, or slashing for a easy layup..Don't get it twisted, fields was never a one on one player, Amare and felton made fields better..
Melo gets the ball(a avg faciltator) and he's looking for the PnR with amare or tyson, maybe he pentrates and kicks to douglas, thats all I'v seen from him so far as our primary playmaker.
Lin needs some burn. I know he needs reps and time to learn the plays but come on. Lin deserves to get off the Bench...if dantoni benches fields then you have no choice but to play Lin cuz he's the only real PG off the bench r.I.p. Bibby.

Also you play Billy Walker as the back up shooting guard and make Landry play Shawne Williamams old role. Simple mathematics
It's simple play Fields off the bench so that he and Melo aren't on the court at the same time.

FU Landry Fields is a bit strong. How about FU EnySpree?
How bout FU Misterearl?
Its easy to sit behind a computer and talk shit. Its the context. Were talking basketball. Landry is a pro. With becoming pro you need to take the critizism. What he does with it is him. I stated in my blog that I would drink with the dude but I don't want him on my basketball team. His role needs to be diminished or he needs to be flat out traded. Simple....life goes on.
I would tell Landry F.U. in his face. Thing is the context would be joking and he would get it and probably tell me F.U. too.
Now back to FU Enyspree....
I have no problem with that. Again its within the context. You can say what you want here and in public as well. Through the context things would play out accordingly

I plus 1 on these comments
I think Melo and Fields are redundant on floor together coming in with second unit should help a lot!
Why?
EnySpree: "I would tell Landry F.U. in his face."
No, you would not.
Play Lin.
Fields has sucked for a long time now, and I'm starting to lose my patience with him. He plays scared. How many times does he get the ball with no one defending him, then instead of taking the shot, passes to another player who has a defender in their face? There's a big difference between being unselfish and being too scared to shoot an open shot. He's bungling passes, bungling easy shots near the rim- people can say it's Melo or that he's not well suited to the team since the Melo trade, but I disagree- maybe that initially curbed his game, but it's now something else- if you watch him you can see he just has no confidence whatso ever, which is amazing because one of the great things about him early last season was that he was confident and didn't make mistakes.
I agree that he should be a SF not a SG, but then I still wouldn't move Shumpert to a starting role because he gives us energy and scoring off the bench and might be a little to disruptive to the offense in a starting role.
Fields is good but he really has problems defending 2s. He makes some good plays and looks bad on others. I see him as a backup. A really poor man's Wilson Chandler. He was a PF in school. Its cute he's saavy enough to play some SG but he's NOT a starter on a playoff team, at least not yet.

You are one of those people that read a book of material and form an opinion based on the way they used a semi colon midway through the book.
In other words I'm wasting words
