I think that is an excellent point Earl.
If a player in his second year lets the team down in some inexcusable way, maybe while being a little strong, the FU expression might perhaps be tolerated. But for Landry Fields, a team player who is trying as hard as he can, and is really an exemplary human being, FU is a glaring error in communication. Nothing Landry has ever done on the Knicks merits the FU.

Nope EnySpree, just ordinary people who respect another person. F.U. is not a term that is thrown around and accepted lightly, as your negative response to "FU EnySpree" demonstrated. Telling someone F.U. is how fights start. Fights lead to wars. And so it goes. Don't think so? Go use F.U. on a stranger and get back to us on the results.
What, exactly, as Landry Fields done to deserve such a personal insult?
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
It's only basketball.
Thank you mister Earl Christ

If Landry ever needed a letter of recommendations he should call you directly

Agree....I think Landry Fields is the perfect team player to have. He's not a locker room cancer, and he will bring the same energy starting or coming off the bench.
I just think once we made that trade for Melo, Landry should've been moved to the bench, because with Melo, Amari and now Chandler, this limits Landry's room to make cuts and move around like he used to. Especially with Melo, since he holds the ball for so long, during ISO plays. STAT and Fields used to have good chemistry, because once STAT got the ball on the block, he would look for Fields on those back door passes.
Fields would be great off the bench, and could provide some much needed energy. This could also jump start his play as well, since most of the time, he will have more room to operate, since Jorts and others will be around the 3pt line. No real post up players in the second unit to clog the middle for Fields, except for Jerome Jordan. I hope Fields moves to the bench. Then BD will move Douglas to the bench.
BD
Shump
Melo
STAT
Chandler
IF health (thats a big if), this is a solid lineup. It will increase Shumps IQ to play with 4 solid veterans too.....Plus, with BD and Shump's ability to attack the rim, it will energize Chandler for put backs, and limit double teams on Melo and STAT.

Is that all you got EnySpree?
The idea was presented to demonstrate another point of view and generate discussion.
Using Fields as a sixth man, as blkexec offers, is a role that Fields could learn to embrace. Once Jeffries heals, the second unit would have another defender who can guard on the perimeter.
Sheesh.
In the name off tms and all that is inappropriate....

rvwink wrote:".but the Knicks shouldn't wait to put Landry on the bench. Nobody should be hand held through this."Landry is playing badly because he is a team player trying to contribute the way MDA taught him along side a couple of selfish scorers who are not passing the ball around. The fact that Landry didn't cause the problem is sad. The right solution to Landry's problem is for Melo to stop dominating the ball and begin sharing it much more. When Melo is having a bad day, why is he allowed to keep shooting.
It begins to look to me that MDA is afraid of correcting the way Melo is currently playing? Anyone else get that idea also?
doesn't have the balls to challenge star players. Thats why he rather have a team full of unselfish roll players that he can whip into shape. As far as managing DEVA'S Phil Jackson is the best at that.
So Melo and especially STAT, with those broken mid range jumpers....will shoot us into a game and out of a game.
's job relies on Melo and STATs offensive efficiency. And I don't think Melo or STAT could care less about
.
Enyspree,
Based on reading your comments on this and other threads, I get the idea that you fancy yourself as an individual who is just a bit larger than life. Melo also behaves on the court as if he was indeed a very special human being. I suspect that the philosophic similarities between you and Melo, makes it more difficult for you to write objectively about whether Melo or a second round supporting cast guy named Landry, needs to change their ways.

i haven't read the whole thread, or even the original post, but in Eny's defense, i think "F.U. Landry Fields" is really just hyperbole. doubt Eny really means it. he's just making a provocative title to get some attention for his thread which probably has some pretty good points about Landry.
now, i wouldn't say "fuck landry" because i think he's a good kid. but i might say "fuck landry's game." because, in all honestly, he looks so lost and so devoid of confidence that I can't imagine he will survive much longer in New York if he doesn't snap out of it. his cowering pump fakes and lackadaisical cross court scoop lob passes are stomach turning.
hope the kid turn it around, but i think he's been very disappointing.

Inside The Numbers
Amar'e Stoudemire is shooting .443 from the field
Landry Fields is shooting .442 from the field
Chill with the Landry hate. Dude will be solid for us. This "team" hasn't played coherently yet, and I expect Fields to be a valuable guy on our team when we finally do.
Like people have talked about - Stat is missing his SWAG, so is Fields. I expect a winning streak to fix this this whole shenanigan of a slump and have us running in february.
Would love to see Eny say FU to Landry. As if Landry would give a fuck.
EnySpree wrote:Btw.....f.u. Landry hurt alot of you guys feelings. Stanford graduates? Fields family tree? If i said "the official bench Landry fields thread" would we talk about something else. I feel you guys want to slap me just because I did that. Like you guys are really hurt by it.
If it makes anyone feel any better the f.u. stands for "feel up"....like Reggie Evans style. You are now free to walk about the country.
It hurts because it's plain stupid, insulting for a second round pick who tries to play the right way for a franchise that has sucked for ages.
Fields is not the problem, I'd dare to say he's the least of our problems right now.
So insult the guy with the lowest usage rate on the team, like some have done last year with Gallinari, making him a scapegoat while taking 5 shots in a game.
And go run after your next pipedream trade, to starphuck this franchise once more time, as it hasn't been done enough before.
Posts like this make me think knicks fans really deserve all the crap they got over the last few years.

Dude, you're making a fool of yourself.
Being insulting that way won't make your stupid point look bright.
Mr. Enyspree,
I thought the ball moved better tonight. Tyson said the Knicks wanted Amare and Melo to get a lot of shots, but they wanted the points to come "in the flow".
Did Landry look any more poised or confident to you tonight?

Yea, that's crazy... Jorts got more time.
Some people sure are sensitive around here. Isn't this a sports board? Suck it up. Stop crying about a simple expression used to express disappointment. I'm sure players hear even worse on the road. Knock it off with the crying over an expression for being pissed off.
Fields is a bench player that is in a rotation on a good team.
He isn't awful but he isn't great either. He's a decent player and for a 2nd round pick that's not bad at all.
I think the hope was that Fields and Rautins would be at best role players with lbj and another marquee free agent. His starting last year was a shock. Dudes around here went way overboard with expectations for him but as a second round pick not projected to be drafted he has already overcome a lot. He was a nice fit with the line up last year but he is not a true 2 and not a starter on most teams. I don't think that is his fault. My F.U. thread would be to the coach who locks in on character guys that don't need coaching or an authority figure to teach and guide them to achieve their potential. Fields is what he is. He has a role but he isn't a starter on most teams. He is a four year guy like a Harrellson who could come in and fit a role. He isn't an athletic freak that is really young and needs guidance. He was and is an easy fit.
