Knicks · Three Seconds or Less (Shumpert's Philosophy) (page 1)

The guy seems to think that he must shoot the ball within 3 seconds of touching it.
holfresh @ 1/6/2012 7:58 PM
And the coach encourages it...

Yes sir. "Just shoot the ball"

holfresh @ 1/6/2012 8:05 PM
If coach wants him to stop he would tell him or bench him...
matt @ 1/6/2012 8:10 PM
As expected...

Wow. I agree with you. That's all coaching.

misterearl @ 1/6/2012 8:14 PM
Don't get crazy with the diss mentality.

Shumpert is running the squad better than anyone

Shumpert. Fields. Carmelo. Stoudemire. Chandler.

It's a little scary that this kid seems like he isn't being coached...He has so much talent and needs direction...

It does look that way.
ChuckBuck @ 1/6/2012 8:24 PM
I'll take 3 seconds or less with that defense...
misterearl @ 1/6/2012 8:30 PM
MUCH better ball movement with a basketball player in the backcourt
Bonn1997 @ 1/6/2012 8:42 PM
He has actually passed the ball much better this quarter

lol. i'll take that too.
ChuckBuck @ 1/6/2012 9:37 PM
Rookie or not, the guy is a beast defensively. Nevermind his offense, he doesn't even know how to fully run a team and still had 7 dimes. His plus minus was +20 that's all I need to see
nixluva @ 1/6/2012 9:39 PM
What's with all the snap judgments on this kid? I'm sure that he'll settle down as he plays more and more. Also do you really think that MDA isn't coaching a GUARD? Yeah I'm sure that's it. MDA with no idea how to coach a guard!!!
SteveSmith @ 1/6/2012 9:39 PM
Seriously? You guys are killing me with the negativity!

There we have a mid 1st rounder, finishing the game with a +/- of +20, 5 steals, 1 block , 7 assists, being at least the 2nd best Knick on the floor, making every single move for the opposing ball handler dangerous and all you say is "3 seconds or less"?

Unbelievable!

ChuckBuck @ 1/6/2012 9:48 PM
Yea the thread name is kinda ridiculous after being the 2nd best Knick on the floor tonight LOL.

I think it was a premature thread...quite embarrassing but it happens to the best of us.

But thats the point with us knicks fans! I had half a bottle of whine and were ready to bring the scotch out after that first 15 minutes. Then Shumpert happened, the defense took a 180 degree turn and the offense actually became one (then I got the scotch to celebrate ^^)

Is it really necessary to judge a team/player/coach/system or whatever based on minutes or single plays? Cant we just be happy to have at least 5-6 players that will bring a certain degree of "game" while getting better as a group?

Its called development! Look forward to it

You can't blame us fans cause of previous seasons. and some of the gripes were legitimate. Douglas, Switching on Screens, Sub Patterns. But it seems D'Antoni has seen the light quicker than previous seasons so the complaints should dwindle really quick.

Do you really think his shot-selection problem is solved now that he put on a good performance in the 2nd half? (And even today he shot poorly despite playing very well overall.) How on earth does a guy with his talent level shoot only 40% against college competition? I'm hard on Shumpert because I think he has elite talent and don't want to see him shoot as badly in the NBA as he did in college. My thread was not a criticism of his overall game but rather of his shot-selection. I clearly did not criticize other elements of his game.
