Fire Antoni!

Holy shit its islesfan!

What's up buddy?

Ha- yep, it's reached that low point of the season when islesfan makes his appearance! But you know, these days compared to some of the hysteria and perpetual depression on these boards, he actually comes across as a voice of reason- how depressing!

We've been playing so badly lately, I was actually enjoying watching Jared Jeffries play today- I never thought that would happen...

Amare looks like his back hurts. Getting into foul trouble cuz he not moving his feet.

Melo won't stop shooting and Nobody has confidence.

Melo/Stat is Haywood/McAdoo revisited.

No chemistry. No Funk.

The defense effort is much better. Orlando just shot themselves back into the lead.

Our Defense on Howard was very good.

We gave them the 3 and they executed.

Sometime you lose and sometimes you get beaten.

Today i can stomach this lose cuz we got beaten.

Go Giants!

Amare is a shell of what he was last year.

He gained 20lbs.....that was the stupidest think he could have done. Now he's got to lose it back. He has no quickness or lift

Usually if a guy gains 20 lbs, and if it's in strength and muscle gains, the added weight is offset by the added strength. I don't know where or how he added 20 lbs, but obviously he did not experience a corresponding gain in strength, which is unfortunate.

I personally think that an alien has inhabited AMARE's body.
The real AMARE is in captivity on the planet Zheedan- 17 light years from Earth.

This only translates if you are a skinny mofo to begin with. If you are already big and you get bigger like that especially when your natural weight is 240....I don't care what it is you are going to be slower. He's a NBA basketball player not a NFL linebacker. He needs to be nimble and be able to jump.....Amare has no post game. If he played below the rim it makes sense. He plays above so why would you pack on more weight. Weight doesn't mean strength. We playing ball or enterinnbgb the Mr Olympia?

Very true +1

When I heard he gained 20 pounds I thought so he going to post up now?

If he had a post game with that body he woulf own. He showed on that drive today on Big baby Davis he still can throw it down. If he had a post up game he could be unstoppable and the best down low threat in the entire league, He would be the best in the paint player. But he doesnt post up.

Edit: such a waste of talent. Imagine him on the low block dancing around and throwing it down.

EnySpree @ 1/16/2012 5:46 PM
Amare was still getting his head up near the rim and fast now he is laboring. He needed full extention on that dunk and it was slower than last year

Loved seeing the leadership by Carmelo playing today despite the injuries. Good effort by the Knicks, but what the hell happened?! They outplayed the Magic for the better part of the game and then let the game slip away. They need to close out games! The need for a point guard is becoming more and more apparent. 3 more home games this week! LET'S GO KNICKS!!

For much as heat melo has taken. I think he is playing at a high level. Now my only gripe with him is his shot selection but I think that improves after sometime. He has played way better D. Elite? no but good defense yes. He shoots too much three's but I think that's MDA. I want to see him post up more. He is a bully on the block.

I had taped the game, and watching itnow. I am in Q2, looks like Tyson didnt a super job on DH. So it was our strategy to take out DH and let their shooters beat us, which based on this thread they seemed to hqave done. Our perimeter D is still suspect, Shumpert can't guard everybody and people keep missing defensive assinments.

welcome to the last decade. JJ did OK defensively. Same with Jorts I think.

As much as I have railed on TD he seems to have gotten close to his own play from last year for stretches there. Getting to the paint and dishing.

If Melo is going to play this style, it doesn't look like Amare is going to be a good fit.
He doesn't seem to like physical contact, does not put a body on his man, and does not fight for position on both ends.
Rather he would give up position and JUMP for the ball if it comes his way. He not only gives up position easily for rebound on both ends but is unwilling
to guard a shooter that is his assignment as well.

We need skilled players, not 1 way players that are limited. Most players signed from min deals however, are either limited on skills or by age.
Orlando has 4 shooters in their starting lineup all capable of hitting the 3pointer, with 2 players that can post up. With good spacing, good cuts, the ability to stretch
the floor, and ball movement they can be tough the defend.

Turkeglu is not a bum, he is a good 3rd option, that has an all around game. He plays the point/forward, sometimes at the PF sometimes at the SF.
He can post up, take you off the trouble, shoot, and penetrate. Ryan Anderson, plays outside - in, at PF/C. He is a good rebounder, makes good cuts, and
most PF or Centers can not guard him from the 3pointer, if they attempt to, he is capable of blowing pass his man. Even if he doesn't, he opens up the lanes for guard to penetrate.
He has decent speed but generally the 3point shot opens things up for him and the team. With a Dwight Howard and Ryan Anderson as your center/pf, the opponents can not
help, as their hands are full.

This year Jameer Nelson, is playing the facilitator role more, instead of being more of a scorer in the past. He uses quickness, picks, and is pretty strong for his size.
He is capable of penetrating, hitting the 3, can create his own shot, and can earn a step for his team. When the 3 point shot falls for them, Magic is hard to stop.
JJ Redick, isn't just a spot up shooter anymore, he isn't great in penetrating but has greatly improved.

I don't really mind the way we lost this game, I think we played much better on both ends. There just isn't much we can do when they are shooting 3pointers and shots like that.
JJ tried to defend Anderson as best as he could but he was on fire. He is much improved this year and he was just on fire today and for much of the year.
Turkeglu, Redick, and Jameer Nelson also hit a couple of timely shots. We came out to play this game and the score doesn't resemble the game.
It hurts us badly when Melo goes out, as we have no post presence to generate our offense. Without a PG, Amare is no longer capable of generating offense.
TD looks much more comfortable as penetrated today, although Redick and Jameer Nelson aren't great defenders. JJ loo
We lack skilled players, period. We need penetration with speed and quickness coming from our SG and PG, to go with better shooting, especially at PF, when Chandler is in.
