no one is expecting him to be a savior. we're expecting him to be a point guard. which this team does not have right now.
We don't need Baron to be Jesus to be our savior...we just need that little dutch boy to plug his finger in the dam.
i could care less about d'antoni being fired, although i do think he has something to offer this team. what does anyone think hiring a coach midseason (most likely woodson) is going to do? there's no practice time for any coach to implement any of his own ideas so basically they are going to keep things the same.
As much as you guys want to do with the "core" we have here. We need to call the Nets and make the Amare for Deron Williams trade happen. Amare can't score, worst defender in the NBA. Melo is a ball hog who takes bad shots. No point guard is going to make Melo a selfless player who takes bad shots. Trade Amare to the Nets and call Orlando and offer them Howard. Melo would be the best offer they would receive. He can go over there and throw up bad shots. This team has not shown any improvement. They got worst as they play worst teams.

this team needs an orchestrator on offense so badly. they have two guys who have averaged 25ppg in their career. they don't need a guy to come and score 30. they need a guy to get his teammates the ball in the right spot.
Regardless of MDA's system. With this group of guys you need a legit point guard. No if, ands, or buts about it. You have a score first player in Melo. An Amar'e who is obviously not the same as he was last year, and cannot create shots for himself. A Tyson Chandler who will not be involved in the offense unless someone sets him up. Another player who cannot create shots for himself in Fields. A low IQ player in TD. A player who can create shots for himself in a league without offensive fouls in Walker. I mean there is just no way without a legit pg.
