This could also be a ploy by Orlando to raise the offer from the Lakers to include both Gasol & Bynam.

Either way, the Knicks need to do everthing possible to get D. Howard (even if it includes Shumpert)

Also from a business point of view, keeping Howard away from the Nets would keep the Knicks as the only game in town.

Although I would follow up with Melo to the Nets for D. Williams & their draft picks.

Yeah I would follow up with a Melo for Dwill.

Build a better team around Dwill and Howard. Two hardest positions to find talent like that.

I would not trade Melo for Dwill. PG is one of the easiest positions currently to find talent.

Tell that to the Knicks.

I think that Dwill with Howard fits better. Dwill will make everyone on the court better. He will make Dwight better. Melo doesn't make his teammates better. I think with Dwill and Howard this will be a better team. I think Dwill and Howard will both make their teammates better.

DWill would fit very well with DHoward.

But if PG "is one of the easiest positions" to find, we wouldn't be on where we are now.

SAS has a sensational way about him.

Any trade gonna leave us depleated again at a critial position. Which one? They are all critical!

Your going to have to give it time after.

After 20 games next year, we gonna make another mega deal if its not working?

Im not sure if I like this deal. Who is the 4? JJ, Jorts?

Deron and Humphries for Melo?

Who the hell can figure this all out!

We are 16 games in. Good grief...

http://nymag.com/daily/sports/2012/01/oh...

If you were ever looking for a concrete example of why the rest of the country has such a grand time making fun of New York sports fans, you really couldn't do much better than this supposed "the Knicks are gonna get Dwight Howard!" story.

The Knicks have spent the last decade injected into every conversation about every superstar who so much as coughs about his current situation, and the media around here has fallen all over itself attempting to chronicle, or even create, those potential Knicks–superstar matches. (The jerks.) This has led not only to the Isiah era — in which aging "stars" collected their NBA pensions while firing up errant three-pointers and eating french fries — but even today's Knicks, who have three legit stars who still haven't figured out how to play together ... and not much else.

It's basically tradition: When the Knicks aren't currently fun to watch, whip up a rumor about them acquiring a player who is! Preferably more than one.

So, as if on cue after a six-game losing streak: Reported — ahem — by ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, late of Cheesy Doodles, the story now is that the Knicks might trade Tyson Chandler and Amar'e Stoudemire for Dwight Howard. (We find it hilarious that the headline to that story includes Smith's initials in the headline, as if to wink and say, "You get it, right?"

The best part isn't the ridiculous trade, though. The best part is the logical conjecture that, hey, if the Knicks traded both those guys for Howard, hell, Deron Williams would just saunter on over, out of general principle. Check out the twisting required to make this happen:

Of course, in order for Deron Williams to come to the Garden, the Knicks would need to restructure Carmelo Anthony’s contract and try to get Dwight Howard to take less than the maximum. Would that be possible? Well, it might be difficult but certainly possible if Carmelo, Dwight, and Deron are willing to take a little less in order to form an absolutely terrific trio.

Yeah, it's fairly common in professional sports for players with no geographic ties to a particular region to rush there to play for teams that have lost six games in a row.

This is why they hate us, you know.

+1.

I would love to trade Amare and Chandler for Howard and trade Melo for Deron. I love it and would do it in a heart beat.

With that said. I just don't see the howard trade happening. I can see the Deron Williams trade happening. Only way we get either of the two is by trading Melo... and I don't think we move Melo and if we do it's if we get Howard or have Howard and try to get Williams.

We wouldnt be where we are now? We traded our pg days before the season. We didnt have any offseason. On top of all that we added a pg as good as billups only days later, hes just hurt. So yes we replaced our pg no problem and can upgrade in the future if needed. It is much more diffcult to add an elite scorer than a quality distributor.

Just as a friendly reminder, Tyson can't be moved until after March 1st.

And I don't think All Star host Orlando wants to move him before that weekend.

The intrigue is just a "bingo" move for all of us.

As we suffer we get to do the Drama all over again!

All problems need a trade to fix it.

How about our players and coaches work thru it? Not the "Sizzle" of a big trade, but could be the way it goes.

I don't think this is a trade that will be made. And you're right this deal can't happen now and would be unlikely to occur much before the deadline. We have until then to pull this whole thing together and hopefully by then all of the melo and stat haters and gallo lovers will be proven wrong.

as long as right and wrong is sorted out by then.

Trading STAT and Chandler for Howard and Turk gives you cap room in two years assuming you don't keep Turk long-term at 11+ Million per year. I think you have a chance to get Howard you get him because he makes the team better. I put that offer on the table just in case Orlando doesn't get anything better and decides to trade Howard instead of getting LeBron'ed. If Orlando makes some kind of counter-offer I'd consider it, but it's not a situation where I give up everything to get Dwight. The highest I'd go for Howard is something like Stat/Chandler/Iman or Fields for Howard/Turk and Q Richardson, I'd be on board for something like that.

Now's not the time to make a panic move, but trading for Howard isn't a panic move.

If we trade Amare/Chandler for Howard and have to take Turk too. Than we trade Melo for Deron Williams/Humpries .

Deron William/Turk/Howard is good ball movement. Very unselfish and better passing team. I could see that team playing the type of ball MDA wants and gives him a chance to prove his worth. If he is crap you bring in another coach who will love a team that can pass in all situations. Much more talented team than Denver but would be equally unselfish.

. Let this team develop this year. Let shump, fields, Jorts, Lin & Jordan come back next season with a year under their belts. The key is how baron if healthy, melo & Amare mesh by the end if the year. If it shows no signs of working then u can explore trades

If they can rid themselves of Amare's contract and get a player back like Howard, you do it now. You don't wait.

gunsnewing @ 1/24/2012 3:28 PM
I wouldn't have a problem with that but it means gutting the team again I rather not. If Orlando plays hardball as Denver did last year u back off. If we get dwight and melo is nice tandem in their prime but its going to take time to surround them with the right players to contend for a championship. It's going to be even more difficult when you throw SHUMPERT and 2 more 1st TD draft picks orlandos way
gunsnewing @ 1/24/2012 3:33 PM
one positive of trading for Howard is the Nets will be shut out. That in itself is enough to entice Dolan to pull the trigger

yep, Knicks show up 2nite and Melo looks like a new man ready to give up his own stats, gaining the confidence of his team mates.
Amare athletisicism is reborn with his shot!
Same for TD!

And Chandler showing us once again, why he was our beast option!

ChuckBuck @ 1/24/2012 9:31 PM
Some glimpses tonight of why you don't break up this frontcourt! Growing pains fellas, Chandler just beasted 17 boards(8 offensive). Amare looked like Amare of old. Let's give this group a shot first!

For Howard you break it up. We played the Bob Cats with out DJ
