Knicks · When do we admit that no amount of endless Beeeyatching... (page 1)

...is going to undo the Melo trade?
Nalod @ 1/23/2012 9:16 AM
Or stop people from venting!
markvmc @ 1/23/2012 10:45 AM
Obviously we can't undo it. We're only guys with keyboards and gamestreams ffs. We can question whether it was a good deal, though.
ramtour420 @ 1/23/2012 10:48 AM
But its the most interesting topic! People need a place to beeyatch and to support it with statistics of lesser or greater relevance. And then beeyatch about what is lesser and what is greater relevance.
Bonn1997 @ 1/23/2012 11:36 AM
Give us some topics to discuss instead. Start some new threads. It seems pointless just to start a thread in a discussion forum about a topic you don't want people to discuss.

This is a topic. As relevant as the countless I hate the Melo trade threads. I'm trying to engender some change of worldview here.

Pointlessness as a mindset is a terrible thing.

I joke about people's need to be "right" on sports forums, but in a sense, that is what it is all about - attempting to confirm our basketball judgement (well, not mine since I don't have much). At the time of the melo trade, people lined up for or against (or maybe neutral). At some point it'll be time to "man up" (for somebody).

The amusing thing is when blame is implied - as though those who were "pro" or "anti" trade are somehow responsible for the outcome.

Anyone who supports Dolan by buying Knicks merchandise is supporting his starphucking.

Yup. The "man up" thig is pretty funny. Then there are he ones who think they owned someone else in a conversation, like they have some infinite wisdom that just makes them basketball gods. And ofcourse theres a few that think if you post enough you must really know something. But there is only one poster with abysmally low IQ!

Don't talk about Bip like that!
RonRon @ 1/23/2012 6:20 PM
how can I stop when I keep hearing things like...

"its a star league, and we need Melo to compete to be contenders" when it clearly set us back and we could have competed if we added the right pieces, and the bogus..

"Denver will never win a championship with their roster" while they have shown they are much improved since the trade, while they still have Wilson Chandler, cap room,
and plenty of draft picks.

"We are not done building, while we are one step closer after acquiring Melo" what the talent can we add with no picks, nothing much after MLE, with no bench, and
when Fields and Jorts can walk for nothing after their 2 year deals as 2nd rounders, or we can use the MLE to retain them but clearly missing much more pieces

"We were never gonna be contenders with our old core" while we still had Eddy Curry and players we could move to add to the core and signed FA last summer

"people blaming Amare or Tyson Chandler eating up our cap/ability to have add to the core" when we had chemistry, a system, and ball movement, and had MVP chants for Amare, prior to Melo coming... while Tyson Chandler has been the most solid player for us

"when Denver

"when people swear Amare can still net us Dwight Howard and saying we have leverage on Orlando, not the other way around" are they serious?

when people have to constantly explain how additions to our old core, with the improvement of our players, could have made us legit contenders this year and many years to come....

BasketballJones @ 1/23/2012 6:28 PM
What need is to get the Oakman back here. He's a tough guy, and he can pass on the Knicks pride/legacy to the.... Oh fuck it. Nevermind.

And you missed my point completely. Of course you would say its a great reply. However we already have 5 pages of these"great replies" in the other thread. To try to hijack this thread with the "great reply" that clearly belongs with the other 5 pages of similar content, is not cool.

So you're the thought police now. Great.

There's a technical reason to be upset. Martin and Andrew only have 1 Megabyte of disk on the 8086 based IBM XT clone that runs this site. Therefore, we should avoid redundant posts. (I just hope that 5.25" floppy disk backup is as reliable as they seem to think it is.)

Oh please, Don't flatter yourself, I could care less. Just seems like there is a thread dedicated to exactly that type of rhetoric already and its a lot more popular.
