I think both teams need a shot in the arm and both players could fit better with each other's team. Salaries fit
I can't imagine the Lakers doing this.

I understand the purpose behind it and i think it is a decent idea. However, Gasol is older and for that reason i would probably decide against it.
I agree, Knicks need a big that can shoot from the paremeter.
Problem I see is Amare/Bynum might not be a good fit. Not sure Pau is a problem for lakers as amare is for the knicks.
Talking X's and O's.
Done! Where do I sign? Why the heck would LA do this? They are not the type of managements that takes crazy chances.

I still think Amare can get back to playing like he did a year ago. No Defense but top offensive PF in the game

"top offensive PF in the game"?
I don't think so - not since the first half of last year. He has shown zero explosiveness this season (so far). I think his jump shot will come back (I think) but not sure about his explosion.
If I was another team, I would stear super clear
I think they would provide subtle changes for both teams each need. LA needs a scoring punch and I think Amare with the right player(kobe is a better passer than Carmelo) could go back to the 21-9 53-54%. Gasol would provide a little better defense and more ball movement.

And a post presence which Amare is far from

I thought about it earlier, but it would make more sense to trade Gasol to Houston for Scola and Kevin Martin, if they were going to move him.
It could benefit both teams, but Gasol is showing he is a much more complete player, while Amare is struggling.
I can't see the Lakers making this move, unless they are pulling a Dolan, to get the "bigger names" vs talent and we are sweeten the deal somehow by giving them
a pick, another player, or/and take back a bad contract of theirs.
