Lin for MVP doesn't work for me, as it is based on the way Nash won his 2 MVPs and I don't think he deserved either. Nash was an anomoly among MVP award winners. 15 and 11, and 18 and 10 are not MVP numbers. He was never the best player in the league and the Suns won nothing. Never made it to the finals. And Nash plays no D. So if you want to make the case for Lin based on the MVP awards of a guy who became a media darling because he was amazing at his position, and was white, then so be it.
I suppose Lin can win it being the Asian Nash. Although to Lin's credit, he's putting up monster numbers, but I just can't see how he continues to do that when Amare and Melo land on the scene. If I'm wrong I'll be happy as hell about it. 3 guys avging over 18 ppg would be great.

I agree, as much as we all love Linsanity and the winning streak, the MVP chants are a little premature after 5 games.

right. unlike Melo, Lin is just putting up numbers. it's not like the team has suddenly started winning during Lin's new tenure as a rotation guy...
...hey wait a minute.

Right, cause my whole argument was a comparison between Melo & Lin. Yeah and right again, 5 games in Lin is MVP.
Lets trade Melo, Lin had 5 great games.

i would think that anyone who is suggesting Lin might be an MVP candidate would be doing so under the presumption that his level of play will be sustained at or near his current level and that the team would keep winning as a result. and if that's the case, then how could he not be considered a candidate?
i never said trade Melo.

I would presume that anyone advocating that someone is an MVP based on a projection from a sample size of 5 games, is, well, uh, something on the order of a moron. If I were being polite I'd say they're prematurely shooting their load. Its kind of ridiculous. 5 games and we've played 1 decent team (LA). And their achilles heal happens to be PG play. Our 2 star players are out. Did I mention its 5 games? If that happens, sure he'll be a candidate.
If that happens he'll be one of the greatest players to play the game. EVER; Averaging 26.8 & 8, which no one is currently doing. In fact D. Rose averaged 25 and 7.7 during his MVP season so Lin would have topped that.
Lin has played great, I want him succeed. I hope he's the 2nd coming of Steve Nash or Rose or the first coming of Lin.
But this is crazy talk here. Crazy. Lets look 20 games in.

The MVP award doesnt really go to the best player in the league, it's more about being the most important guy on a team thats winning and simple would not if you weren't on the team..

Maybe thats what it is now, post Steve Nash. It wasn't that before. Look at this list of MVPs
http://www.nba.com/history/awards/mvp-award-winners/index.html
The guys who were winning this award were like top 5, top 3 players in the league. No one who averages 15 points has ever been awarded the MVP. Until Steve Nash. Its laughable.
The definition you are giving is really for a Team MVP, not MVP of the league.

Yeah - we need to get rid of Amare and Melo ASAP, so Jeremey can get the MVP.
