What a nice compliment player with nice size. Surprised he didnt get more PT somewhere else. Made for the MDA system.
Id lock both him and Jefferies up for 3 years to very reasonable contracts and were going to be paying for Fields and Lin
This has been reminiscent of grabbing Mason and Starks from the scrapyard.
I told my brother last night how I felt the closest thing ever for me to the whole Linsanity
was Starks and Mason
Of course Lin is times ten
Novak is a pleasant bonus as well!
Plays good D too. Scrappy
He is a keeper!
Novak released by Spurs, not sure if it was a numbers thing.
Missed a bunch early tonight. Needs to keep hitting them, but he is making an effort on D, and grabbing some loose d-boards.

He wasn't doing anything there. Now that he is getting minutes AND getting comfortable you can see he is actually more than a shooter. He has made quite a few great rebounds in traffic recently. He is starting to shoot more off the dribble, still not that good.
But the biggest thing I see with Novak compared to earlier in the year is his confidence. You can see he is fitting in with the flow, the passing really well, and when open there is little hesitation to shoot. When he is completely set, he is lights out. When he is rushed his % drops drastically.
Now imagine the more open looks Novak will get the more he plays with our other offensive weapons. He has also been getting minutes with Lin on the bench, which I see isn't his best shooting.
Can we afford to actually keep him though? If he keeps this up, surely other teams with cap space or the MLE will offer him slightly more than the minimum?
I think he will want to stay. He looks like he really wants to be part of this. He was on his feet last night cheering the third string scrubs during the blowout. Hope we can match and keep him.

noticed that too
Novak was a JVG find in Houston.
The guy is like a ton of players who make the NBA but can't stick cuz need minutes. In MLB its at bats.
NBA is not an equal opportunity league. Contracts and potential get preferred treatment. Mozgov got a 3mm per year deal and that bought him time to learn into his potential.
Look at Shawn Williams and Novak. They the same height and doing the same thing when in a NY uniform.
Its a tough business!
Novack lit it up in college. Reminds me of Matt Carroll. Still in the league and can play, but he could not stick on knicks cuz of the numbers we had here.
Novak is fine....you won't need to pay him a lot to keep him. If you're do, your making the same kind of mistakes that hurt us in the early part of the decade.
