Jeremy Lin will play in the Rising Stars Challenge after all.

The New York Knicks point guard was added Thursday to the roster of players for the Feb. 24 game, just before Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley began drafting for their teams.

New York's current sensation has also been invited to take part in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend in Orlando.

Gotta love the NBA - they know how to capitalize on a star when they find one. I am glad they are so flexible - it makes it interesting and it's good for Lin and NYK.

There was no chance that Lin wasn't going to be playing in that game. It would have been the dumbest move ever not to include Lin and all the publicity that comes with it. Hell, I'm almost shocked that he's not playing in the Rising Stars and the All Star game. Anything to capitalize on this phenomena.

a cynical man might say that the last time there was a lockout the knicks lucked into a castoff from the warriors and made an improbable run to the finals to re-generate interest in the league and off this lockout, the knicks magically get the defensive center they've needed for ten years and lucked into a castoff from the warriors who happened to be a magical young point guard who no one else even knew about. great for the league to recover from an ugly lockout with a really good team in NY.

but that's only what a cynical man would say.
