...a baker.

Turnovers, turnover! Pepperidge Farms doesn't make this many turnovers!

airchibundo507 @ 2/17/2012 10:27 PM
well when it's 2-on-5 with absolutely no production from his backcourt teammates, I don't blame him.

It's either force a pass to the bigs (despite the paint being packed), pass out to Fields, Shumpert, Billy Bob Walker and co. who can't do a damn thing with the ball, or force up a bad shot. The same happened with Melo early this season, except instead of forcing passes to bigs, he took the tough shots.

knicks1248 @ 2/17/2012 10:28 PM
I'm not sure you can keep over looking them..I mean really
AnubisADL @ 2/17/2012 10:38 PM
The crazy thing is he stopped turning it over when he stopped passing. Not a good sign.

Someone please tell him we dont need him to drop 20+ we need him to not turn the ball over.

I know it's a team sport, but this is one of those games they should have won and me thinks his nine anti-dimes are to blame for the lose. I'm not trying to slam him in general, just this specific game.

gunsnewing @ 2/18/2012 1:08 AM
Easy on Shump he's been hitting his 3's and he is a rookie in a lookout year with no summer league or training camp. Feel free to kill everyone else who can't hit an open jumper all year because they have no excuse.

It's funny Lin took all the blame tonight but everyone knows the game was lost at the 3pt & FT line

yea thats terrible but if perimeter shots are falling you don't need to force turnovers in traffic as much. The game becomes easy. And it wasn't just Lin turning the ball over it was fields, shump & walker too

Sixth career start. We expect much more from our rookies.
Knicksfan @ 2/18/2012 9:29 AM
Lin does need to cut down on the turnovers, and he knows it, but this was just New Orleans forcing us to take the outside touch and us simply not taking advantage of it. Had we made 3 more of those open shots we got, heck, had we made our free throws, things would've ended differently.

The dimensions of our game will change dramatically with Carmelo and J.R. around.

Keep believing!

I agree that we normally don't need him to go for 20, but if Landry and Bill Walker are struggling offensivly, who else is going to score. Amare of course, but most everyone else needs him to create to be effective. Shump can create his own shot but he was also struggling.

Is he still a rookie?
The number of turnovers is alarming anyway. You could cut his turnover numbers in half and he'd still have too many. I don't have doubts about whether he can play in this league but I definitely have doubts about whether he can be a full-time PG.

The game was lost at a few places; 3pt and ft were only a part. Bill Walker and Steve Novak were brutal all game. Lin had a terrible first quarter. Honestly, if you change any one of those negatives into a positive, we probably win the game.

With a total of only 46 NBA games played, and 7 starts, the answer is an absolute, positive yes.

I was asking out of curiosity if he was officially considered a rookie, not whether in Earl's opinion he is a rookie. I was wondering both about what awards he'd be eligible for and about how the league defined rookie but I couldn't find the information. I'm not disputing that he's young and has the potential to learn and grow.

I don't quite understand all of the complaints about the numbers of Lin turnovers. When Lin drives, and he gets to the basket, either he shoots a high percentage himself, or a team mate usually gets a high percentage shot. Plus if his pass turns out to be inaccurate, one must take into account that his relationship with his team mates is so knew, that they still need to learn each others tendencies.

The more he drives, the more positive benefits flow in terms of the "team" scores and at the same time the greater the risk of turnovers. When you compare his stats with other elite point guards, the fact that his turnovers are higher than theirs, is not necessarily terrible imo. If he is driving to the basket much more frequently than they are, there are going to be times when the ball is knocked out of his hands.

Lin is shooting .491 currently so if you count an extra 3 turnovers for the ball being knocked out of his hand against his shooting percentage, its still not terrible. Then count an extra 3 turnovers because he doesn't know his team mates well enough. There should be improvement in this stat over time, just because they will both will learn what to expect. If someone doesn't think this is an accurate premise, I would love to hear why?

gunsnewing @ 2/18/2012 1:20 PM
that is true u can see Lin has better chemistry with Tyson than Amare because he knows tysons tendencies
MarburyAnd1Crossover @ 2/18/2012 1:21 PM
Yea, he'll be okay just gotta get used to it, man.

Let them settle, like the stuff on the bottom of a snapple bottle.

But I like what you say about being a baker and making turnovers. That's funny to me.

He'll settle down, he'll settle. He always has less turnovers in the second half.

Look, this is the learning curve.

They have played together how many games? I think it will get better with time.

People are blaming Lin for waiving off Amare but Tyson has been a better pick and roll player this year than Amare has.
