Knicks · JLin is the best point guard in the league. There I said it. (page 3)

Lin has only really been playing significant minutes for a very short time. I posted what he's done over that time and it's pretty impressive for such a short stint. It doesn't really look like he can't maintain a fairly similar level of play given how he's doing it.

What's your point?

Yeah, what IS your point? A player has to be the only decent player on the team to be a top 5 Point guard?
AND he WAS playing with a bunch of D-Leaguers plus Chandler. Do you recall that the this team's two max players were out
for most of this run? Amare still looks out, and Melo still is.

I think its early yet to be saying he's top 5, but your rationale is just silly.

Chris Paul and Deron Williams have been dropping allstar stats for the last half decade but yes Jeremy Lin is the best PG in the league now after those 7 games.

MVP status even.

I understand the rationale for this, we're shorthanded, and Davis should help in that department. When Duhon was starter he was leading the league in minutes (or damned close) and near the top in assists, so his minutes inflated his stats.

No, I'm not comparing the two as far as skill set, just a reminder that when his minutes go down I doubt that he is going to be putting up amazing numbers like this, especially with Melo coming back and more offense recently added to the mix in Smith. I still expect some good numbers assist wise.

You may wanna moniter is minutes for sure, but the way he's playing, you'll be hard press to sit him..
You'll be hard press to sit any player playing at this level and winning..

would you tell Jordan to play 30 minutes? No.

You play a guy as much as he can handle. That's a basic rule.

Tell that to Duhon. We want the kid to have something left in the tank for the playoffs. He's also dealing with all this pressure that even Jordan didn't have to deal with when he entered the league.

Its taxing and if Lin has to play 38 minutes a game with all the talent on this squad now we have problems.

Duhon??

Who is Duhon?? Why is he in the same sentence as Lin? That's like saying something about Brad Lohaus and comparing him to Lebron James. It's an insult to mention Duhon and Lin in the same sentence.

Lin is a superstar point guard. His next contract will be for 6 and 120$m

I wish you would read what I've written more carefully. First thing I said was that I'm not comparing their skill set. I'm talking about keeping Lin physically healthy and relatively fresh for the playoffs.

And You just did this after comparing him to Jordan. Jordan was their main threat on offense. Lin doesn't need to be, we have much more offense on this squad on tap with Melo, Smith, and Davis to run the point which is by no means a bad thing. Look what he did last season.

I don't know how many times I can say it was the right decision to play Lin as many minutes as he has He shouldn't have to play this many minutes with these guys coming back or joining the rotation now for the Knicks to be in the hunt.

You read this carefully: Bums like Duhon aren't made for big minutes. Duhon didn't work on his game as Lin, Lin is an athlete.

I agree on those points. But I don't see your point about playing with a D league. For a stretch, he was!

You guys don't recognized when your trolled into a frenzy?

Did Chris Paul and Deron take their 8-15 teams to 16-16 after nine starts? Did they score the most number of points AND assists in the history of the NBA after 9 games? Why cant you admit the kids a good player? Oh wait you wanted Gilbert Fucking Arenas.

Classic troll behavior.

The way last year ended for the team, burn out issues at my job, the NBA labor stalemate, and the terrible way we played at the beginning of the year, really turned me off to the sport and the Knicks. Getting a chance to watch Harrelson and Shumpert play kindled my interest, but this team was going nowhere until Lin resurrected the season, and these days I am actually setting aside time to watch Knicks games, something I was not doing before he came onto the scene.

I'd never even think to say he is the best PG in the league, at least not until he has a few years under his belt and some playoff success, but Lin seems to have all the tools to be an excellent PG, and maybe a great one at certain times.

What has stunned me the most is his offensive versatility and his defensive skill. He has so many ways to hurt you as a scorer, including his jump shot, which was supposedly a major weakness in his game. He can finish, even with contact, hit the mid-range J, has that little running floater as he goes to the basket, and has shown a decent enough 3 pt stroke, especially in clutch situations.

He is also a surprisingly good defender- both man to man and off the ball. His physical strength is underrated, and the kid is an athlete and competitor who seems to up to the challenge of guarding the better PGs in the league. Down the line, with Lin at PG, and Shumpert at SG, we are going to have a solid defensive backcourt, without a doubt.

We struck gold with Lin, and it's easy to make a case that getting him the way we did is the equivalent of having another lottery pick in in the most recent draft. The turnovers are annoying, but he is basically a rookie at this point, and I expect him to have some issues in this area. This is where MDA is supposed to show what kind of coach he is as far as molding PGs. Hopefully they develop the same chemistry that MDA had with Nash.

Is he the best PG in the league? Nope... but he is playing like a contender for that title, and nobody could have expected him to be in this position at this point, or for the Knicks to have him on their roster.

Yeah, cuz those guys don't have anyone to pass to.
Rajon Rondo playing with a bunch of D-Leaguers much?

I think that's all anybody is saying at this point. Small sample size is obvious but so are the numbers. And between AnubisADL and Magic Johnson's analysis of a Point Guards ability and upside, I am going with Magic.

Right now Lin seems like the point guard we've always wanted. Who cares if he is "the best" or whatever, so long as he's getting the job done.

It's an honor for Lin to be mentioned in the same sentence with the best PG's in the league. He hasn't embarrassed himself when he's played against good competition. He gives as good as he gets and he's been winning more than he's lost. I have to reiterate that teams are LOADING up on him. You get a lot of attention from opposing D and you'll get some TO's.

Not sure about "best PG" stuff, but I'll say this guy COULD be the league MVP if it continues.

Team was dying.

Amare and Melo out.

Insert Lin and it all blows up grand!
