Knicks · Mother of all trades and it works on trade checker (page 1)

I never propose trades for a reason! I hate roster overhauls and not big into starphucking. But I wanted to get out ahead of all putrid trade ideas we are bound to see now and post the mother of all trades. You have never seen anything like this, I promise.

LA Lakers

Outgoing - Gasol, Bynum
Incoming - Dwight, Amare

Orlando Magic

Outgoing - Howard, Turkoglu
Incoming - Bynum, Anthony

NY Knicks

Outgoing - Stoudamire, Anthony
Incoming - Gasol, Turkoglu

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecke...

I still think it was a good idea to get Melo just not for this coach. Lakers covet DH, Magic covet Stars, NY covets passing big man who can be a post up player. ORL takes a risk on Bynum injuries, Lakers take a risk on STAT and Knicks take on Hedo.

CRAZY HUH?

UBERCLUSTERSTARPHUCK - There I said it!

loweyecue @ 2/21/2012 7:31 AM
You could say I am clinically Linsane.
MarburyAnd1Crossover @ 2/21/2012 7:37 AM
I'll take that all day. Pau and Hedo would kill them with the Js and we would be rid of two terrible contracts.
alexs @ 2/21/2012 8:08 AM
Interesting, stop the starpuching and build a team...hmm not very Dolan but it could work. Most fan reactions will be negative though. I think I'd do it

That would be a wonderful trade
Knixkik @ 2/21/2012 8:20 AM
This trade makes us worse and older. Gasol hasn't had a great year. If you don't like what we have and want to build a team give this team more shooting by trading Amare to Orlando for Anderson, Turk, and Reddick. Makes sense for both teams and makes us younger and more balanced.

C Chandler/Jeffries/Harrellson
PF Anderson/Turk
SF Anthony/Novak
SG Smith/Reddick/Fields
PG Lin/Davis/Bibby

loweyecue @ 2/21/2012 8:46 AM
This not a great trade for the Knicks but its realistic. Hedo's contract is still shorter than Melo's. And between Hedo, JR, Novak etc we will have enough outside shooting. Tyson/Paul should be interesting to see and probably work well. Pay plays good defense and gives us a post up player and he is healthy with no Knee issues.

Melo is huge loss and that's why I would probably still not do this. I want to see Melo playing team ball here. But I have been thinking about this trade for a while since all these pieces have been floated in rumors except Melo. And it gives each team something they want. It also assumes Lin can be a starting PG which is not yet an assumption set in stone.

Heck I thought I would get killed for proposing this. But very few responses so far.

RonRon @ 2/21/2012 10:25 AM
I think we would prefer to also acquire Ryan Anderson to be our stretch 4, while we ship out a filler like

Bibby
Walker
Jordan
TD

Orlando's pay roll next year is 67m, its actually 85m+ but 20m is Gilbert's which won't count against the cap.
Bynum has an opt out contract after this season, so he can leave for nothing in return for Orlando though.
This is part of the reason why they want Gasol + Bynum from Lakers.

I would love to trade Amare + filler to New Orleans for Ariza and Kaman or Ok4.
Ariza would be our stretch 4 and compliment TC nicely on defense, allowing Melo to actually post up.
I really like what Ariza can bring defensively, with his ability to run, and play at a fast pace.
He excelled with the Lakers and was a big part of their success for the NBA title, with his versatility, athleticism, and length.
Like Briggs said, the spacing for our starting squad is part of the reason why we have problems.
TC, Amare, and Melo, just doesn't work well together. TC has been our most consistent player and our heart, defensive anchor, and true leader of the Knicks.
Gasol would be able to play Center as well, so we don't have to rely on TC all the time.

I know Jorts can hit the 3 pointer shot but he is closer to a Center that can shoot, than a PF.
He doesn't have the ability to penetrate when his man comes out to defend his shot.
His game is very similar to a younger Okur, I hope his wrist injury doesn't affect his ability to shoot, if we get in the playoffs.

I feel bad for Amare, with the loss of his brother. And he actually buys in the the system and has been trying to get Melo and others to buy in the system.
Unfortunately, he doesn't compliment the team at PF, and he doesn't neither is a post presence in TC and Amare.
It's not really his fault, and it hurts Melo to not being able to get post position, which is one of his greatest strengths to his game.
His defense is also horrible and it is part of the reason why we aren't able have an identity.
Having Gasol and Melo being able to post up, would help us get ez baskets a lot.
We don't have the size of a stretch PF in the mold of Wilson Chandler, Durant, Ariza, or even a Ilyasova.
While Ariza isn't a good shooter like those guys, he is a great help defender, shot blocker, and excels in the fast break/uptempo basketball.

Fields has improved greatly already but he seriously needs to work on his shot and not be a liability and be capable of hitting that wide open 3point shot.
If he improves his shot next year, he would be a much more complete player.
He doesn't have the speed to defend guards and doesn't have the size/length to play PF.

While I'm not necessarily opposed to a huge trade, the Knicks give up the most and get the least back. I want no part of Turkeyglue. Gasol, Melo, and Amar'e are all about the same tier of player. Turkeyglue is not even close. If we take him or a comparable player back, I want a bunch of picks/prospects coming back too

I agree never sell low especially when taking back turkeyglue and Pau who is on the decline
not playing well at all the past 2 years.
Moonangie @ 2/21/2012 10:50 AM
We lose Stat and Melo and get back Pau and the Turkey? Am I missing something here? This is a stinker for the Knicks. Why on Earth would we want to do this? I mean Pau for Melo is a wash, but give away Stat for Hedo? That's truly Linsane!
nyvector16 @ 2/21/2012 10:53 AM
That would be a great trade if you are the Lakers or the Magic.
It would be the Fleece of the Century if are the Knicks.
That's the kind of trade you do if you want to get fired as GM of the Knicks.

Pau is not playing well? 17 Pts (on 49% shooting), 11 rbs, 3 assists doesn't count as playing well? He's definitely playing better than Melo or Amare is.
MarburyAnd1Crossover @ 2/21/2012 10:57 AM
Pau is consistent, that's for sure. Plus he'll drill that mid-range that's so key for MDA and he can battle under the basket like a filthy animal.

he didn't say that he wasn't playing well. what I thiink he meant is that the expected useful life of the contract is expected to be longer for both Amar'e and Melo than it is for Pau. meaning: most players start production starts to decline in their early-to-mid 30s

That could be the case. It depends on how well the player ages. I don't know if the surgeries and injuries for Melo are all just freak occurrences or if his body is breaking down.
SupremeCommander @ 2/21/2012 12:00 PM
honestly, I would favor doing something like:

Amar'e for Anderson Varejao, Ramon Sessions, and a pick

I think Cleveland would jump at the chance to add star power and a primary scoring option for Irving to get the ball to. While for the Knicks, Chandler becomes the primary post option and has arguably the best defensive front court in the league

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to all teams being under the cap, the 25% trade rule is not invoked. No team had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

You can't be serious! Why the hell would cleveland do this? You thing they don't watch the games? They don't see that he is on a fast track south? And his contract is uninsured.

Can't understand why people think he has true value.

colombian0725 @ 2/21/2012 12:05 PM
Gasol- Shoots mid range, Post up player, Great rebounder, can defend. Another pick and roll player. I'd take Gasol. I don't want to give up Melo though.
yellowboy90 @ 2/21/2012 2:35 PM
Gasol is not known for running the floor and the first time he shows his softness fans will rip him and he will go into his shell. He also needs his Iso plays in the post and we know fans do not like players who iso in the post in the MDA system even if they past the ball from the post. Also bt moving Melo you just allowed for every wing defender to man up on Lin. Deng, Lebron, A.I., and etc are now free to affect Lin's game and you have no one to make them work.
