I vote no to starting Shump. He's a rookie performing where he's at. Plus, it gives Pringles options. Shump comes in and disrupts whichever guard is hot on the other team

Works agasint teams like Cleveland & Sacramento but you go down by 17 against the Miami, Chicagos of the world the game will be over in the 1st half of the 1st quarter

I thought that Fields was all right against Miami. I also really like his chemistry with Lin. Let's not forget Shump looks a million times better coming off the bench than he did when he was starting.
Shump looks better because he is now playing with Lin & Davis not TD & Walker. Seriously the times both Lin & Shump have been in the backcourt together since Linsanity started has been awesome to watch. Ask Crzymdups

Shump has looked good coming off the bench all year. also, I don't see the point in screwin around with the rotation right now. things are going well and everyone seems to understand their role. why risk fuckin around with other players' confidence, especially when we're talking about elevating a rookie. you want to put a rookie in a position to succeed and he's succeeding with important rotation minutes. this is good for short and, more importantly, long term
Thanks for fixing the thread title. Didn't want to make it sound like the "Another reason to start Shump thread" I created last week but I see the confusion. Nothing I hate more than multiple threads about the same thing. I get lazy with the titles because I assume everyone is reads every thread when clearly they don't

Last year Fields was a 2nd rounder thrusted into the starting lineup and handled it well. And he is doesn't have half the confidence Shump has. IMO it is the inevitable whether its this year or next. Shump is the starting SG. Fields goes to the bench until we can no longer afford to keep him. Then he is expendable with Novak and maybe even JR filling more pressing needs
I was wrong about JR smith, but I would rather Shump start over Landry.
I also think that stat and Landry should be moved for the last peice this team needs, mainly power forward that could put up 15and10 every night with a little D.

Dilemma with that is no team will trade for Amare unless he starts playing like a beast again...but if he is playing like a beast again he is a top 5 PF and you wouldn't want to trade him.
I would trade him. Stat really is a third or fourth wheel with TC and Melo here.
He does nothing to complement either in any way.

Business wise it makes no sense to trade him now with his stock so low. You will get nothing for his uninsured contract. He actually does complement them if it's Amare from last season. His mid-range jumper is needed on this team. You don't think the jumper he has had for 5+ seasons now is not gonna come back?
enough with the trades. Last thing we need to do is bring in another player and try to get the team accustomed to playing with him and vice versa

My post was in reference to Foediddy saying if Amare was to start beast you can't trade him.
I still would trade him, the one good complement in theory won't change that it's only 1 of 4-5 things a PowerForward could do on the court to help out TC and Melo.
Watching Knicks rewind and Booby Gibson drain 3's in Field's face in the 2nd Quarter

Jorts just might be that guy

he had one WIDE OPEN look, which got him red hot from behind the arc, hot enough to start draining contested looks. Fields simply isn't a SG, and it's time to move him to bench SF where he belongs
The Knicks looked awesome in the second half tonight. Shumpert looked extremely explosive just running down the floor to create the alley-oop opportunity - reminded me of the highlight of him from the pre-season Knicks show when he exploded around the outside of Carmelo on the break.
Speed's this guy's game... and I'm just amazing at how much raucous he causes defensively. He may not get recognition this year, but if he's able to get 25+mpg as his career progresses, he should be a regular on all-D teams. Extremely quick and precise hands.
I like Landry Fields when the match ups work - he seems to play well against maybe 20 out of 30 opposing teams. He rarely dominates, but he does what he's supposed to do and makes his teammates look better.
With that said, Shump always contributes defensively... and in games when the Knicks get out on the break, he's electric.
No disrespect to Landry Fields - because he's done a fantastic job, particularly for where he was drafted. But at this stage he looks like a solid rotation guy/lower end starter at either SG or SF.
Shump is still oozing with AS potential, particularly if he just finishes a little better... and if he shoots a little better. He can create his own shot, passes with precision, and has prototypical speed and athleticism. He seems to have the toolkit to become a better ball-handling Sprewell... but maybe he'll peak as a Tony Allen (today) clone. Don't know.
(to be fair, JR Smith has the complete package to be an AS-level scorer in the league; I haven't really seen enough of him to understand why he isn't one of those perennial 6th man candidates like an Eddie Johnson or Ricky Pierce - He's got the prototypical SG build - a la Jordan or Kobe)
Kobe-esque

There was never a doubt about the athletic ability and potential of JR Smith. Could have a been a combination of immaturity, Denver being no place for him to be somebody and George Karl getting on his nerves. Who knows?
Being closer to home can do wonders for people who need support and encouragement.

Tony Allen? Tony Allen never rocked the sweet orange kicks like The Iman. Besides, didn't we finally learn our lesson about making faux player comparisons with Jeremy Lin?

Fields was also not a SG. I think we can all agree that was a result of necessity, and that we were all shocked (and happy) that it worked. That is the exception, not the rule
