Everytime Rose came around the pick they doubled. The problem with that is once Rose passes to the shooter, the knicks are not recovering and getting their ass on their man to boxing out. They are out of position but still need to find a way to recover.
This game was not all bad, there was effort on Defense but its always something - so damn frustrating!!
STAT had 3 REBOUNDS! THATS PHUCHING 3 REBOUNDS! Geez.
Jeffries is better at recovering from doubles, so hopefully he should improve our situation defensively and on the boards.
Whats his status? I can't believe I miss him so so much
Also, you can't have 3 of Baron Davis, Jeremy Lin, JR and Shump on the floor together. We are a average rebounding team when we are at full strength. You can't be having three guards on the floor or Novack at the four when the team is getting killed on the offensive boards.
That's not good coaching.

One of the reasons why I think Fields and Melo don't work as a 2 and 3 combination is that both are not the quickest with their feet. you have to double sometimes, and the Knicks get burned when they have to get back from a help situation. JR is much faster, but not really playing well at all. Shump also faster.
Help D will always come at the expense of some rebounds...but a ton of the rebounds were on jump shots...so it was just bad rebounding in the 2nd half period. Again...Melo was a beast on the boards in the 1st half...but he is out of shape and it shows up in the 2nd half.

True but to be fair, in all seriousness, our guards are much better rebounders than STAT

Not sure. I miss Chandler/Jeffries when Stat is having a senior moment.

And when Novak was in there, they kept using his man to pick which left us in a mess.
Good teams will expose your weaknesses and we've been playing a lot of good teams. STAT just can't be this lazy on the boards. He wasn't challenging shots like Tyson, so what was he doing???
I can't wait for Jared to get back. He's more important that anyone realizes cuz he quietly solidifies the defense and he'll board like he gives a damn. Man I still can't get over STAT having only 3 boards.
PJax will make this team rebound better.
Zen Sh1t = better rebounding!!
Fact!
Agreed that when you're switching and playing help defense on D Rose you'll give up some rebounds but you still have to box someone out. The Knicks basically made Taj Gibson look like Dennis Rodman with all the offensive boards he had tonight.
munco!!
Welcome aboard!!
Go do some Alba posting. Make it a hottie.
Well, the game was clearly lost on the offensive boards. And great point about how doubling Rose pulled us out of position and opened up the O boards for them.
First, we needed to have Shump on Rose in the 4th. Lin was good, but Shump is much much better.
Second, Stat needs to find a way to get more than 3 rebounds.
Third, Jeffries clearly would have been an improvement over Stat on the boards. We would have given up scoring but the Bulls won on second chance (and 3rd and 4th) points. I'm not as concerned about our offense.
Outside of the boards, we need to throw the ball into a posted up Melo more often. He can pass it out to an open Stat (like last night was working). We are seeing the team come around better. Melo needs to get in position to get the ball better in the 4th. If you noticed he was often on the opposite side as the pg was and it wasn't a good or even possible position to get him the ball. He just needs to rotate or come to the ball. That hurt in the 4th as he was playing good. The Bulls didn't have much of an answer for his or Stats offense and we got away from it. Coach needs to step in there AND what was with leaving STat, Lin and Melo on the bench so long in the 4th. Rose and company came back in much sooner. (like 3 mins)
Balkman would have helped more than JR Smith
