Knicks · OT: Portland beat Chicago 100-89 - WHAT! (page 1)

I was watching the boards and saw that the Blazers where up and now seeing that they won, it's almost comical. I think Rose is out with a groin injury, but man.
loweyecue @ 3/16/2012 10:34 PM
Firing the coach has a 5-10 game swing. You can see this throughout history.
DJMUSIC @ 3/16/2012 10:36 PM
Good win the Blazer were in same spot as NY

Chi-town was all about Miami Heat (minus D.Rose) that win afterwards they shot their gun Or unloaded their happiness
beating the Bulls

This game obviously Bulls didnt take seriously after their WIN & they paid for it new blazers and new coach

Syniko @ 3/16/2012 10:36 PM
Trailblazer took all their aggression out on the Bulls.

More reason why I was calling for Dantoni's head after losing 9 of 10 before Linsanity happened or before the boston game & stupid Philly & Chicago game when it was evident he lost the team during this 6 game losing steak

Impeccable reasoning

MDA didn't lose the team. The team was fractured by the fight between Melo and MDA. Not to mention the lack of effort by STAT. The biggest reason that this team has looked so good last 2 games is that the starters never got this kind of effort from STAT and Melo until MDA left and then all of a sudden they knew that their excuse was gone. How could they go out and not play hard now? It would only expose them as the source of the problem, which it still did, cuz we can see that they clearly could've always played this hard.

STAT and Melo as we've been saying before MDA left were the major culprits in the team losing. Ever since they both came back neither guy has really put in Max Effort. STAT due to laziness and Melo due to being selfish. Now magically they're playing hard??? Come on!!!

Get your nose out of MDA's ass. If a coach fails to properly utilize the top 2 players on his team he deserves what he gets. His lack of emphasis on the defensive side of the ball is also a major liability. He dug his own grave and then decided to lay in it!

's own stubbornness is what did him in. Anyone can coach when they have all the "right" players. Good coaches are able to adopt the needs of their team.

arkrud @ 3/17/2012 12:01 AM
It's wery simple.
Woody just told the Stat and Melo that MDA/no-MDA if you suck you suck.
And Dolan send a message that Lin will stay regardless (too mich money to lose) but others need to prove the worth.
By the way both "stars" are still suck, but now they realized that they need to work.
Interesting how long they really can work? Not easy if one is not used to it.

This is a keen point! It's exactly right. STAT and Melo had an excuse to slack off and mail games in while MDA was here, this is how bad it got! Now that they see they are in the lime of light, they have to play hard.

It's like an employee that is going very slow and not doing much, but when the boss will come this employee will start working very hard! Same mentality. It's the mentality of bums.

Logic will get you nowhere.

Oh I can't wait for - the team started winning because we changed the coach, so it must be the coaching threads.

These last two games more than anything proved that Melo's sulking and Amare's lack of leadership and their willingness to use MDA as a cop out is what killed the chemistry in the team.

Once the NY media focuses on building a library of faults for Woodson based on conjecture and speculation from BS tweets by players and other "sources", this pattern of behaviour by our "all stars" will return quickly.

So are we rooting for the Knicks to win or lose?

They win and Knick fans are truly excited about this team or they lose and Dantoni's reputation is salvaged and the I told you so people come out of the woodwork?

Way to change the subject. No one is rooting for the team to lose. We are expressing our opinion of why the team is winning and that it has nothing to do with the new coach. In my opinion this will not last for long, because of the same reasons Linsanity didn't last. Melo will go into sulk mode and the team will again suffer because of it. We can keep hiring and firing coaches and ignoring the problem.

gunsnewing @ 3/17/2012 10:02 AM
I see what you're saying I'm not crazy about Melo the person either but I don't see it getting as ugly as it did in the past. They may lose tonight but it won't be because of lack of effort

Oh I don't think it will happen right away. I think we are safe for a 5-10 game window effort-wise. Then we hit a 3 game skid and the media goes on a witch hunt. Melo will revert to full sulk mode.

The team being fractured is the very definition of a coach losing the team. The coash is the general...he commands and the team follows....pretty simple. When all the players are not on the same page that falls back on the coach. When a team likes a coach personally but starts to tune him out the coach has lost the team. When players don't like that their coach won't put a player on blast but prefers to pull the player to the side it's a problem. When players won't play hard it falls on the coach.

STAT hasn't been lazy, he's been out of shape. He lost some weight and is playing better and looks like he picked up a step. Melo is far from perfect but as a player how do you give max effort for a coach who doesn't want you?

At the end of the day Melo is the franchise whether people like it or not. MDA is gone and the Knicks new season started 2 games ago. Let's go Knicks!!!

loweyecue @ 3/17/2012 5:26 PM
Coach is the general? LOL - That's rich.

If a soldier refuses to do what a general commands they get effing court martialed.
If an NBA ALL STAR diva refuses to do what the coach wants the coach gets fired.

Great analogy.

STAT hasn't been lazy? Watch tapes from last few MDA games when STAT was stepping out of people's way so they could dunk on him.

You give max effort because you get $20M to do so. You don't need to worry about who does or doesnt want you, you need to shut up and play.

Playing hard everyday all the time should not require coaching that should happen without question and prejudice.

So, let's see how long the good play lasts, and when its over, bam- we bring in a new coach. Then when they stop playing good for new guy, bam - we fire his ass too. We just have to get the timing right, so that we go into the playoffs with a brand new coach and a brand new winning streak.

Woodson was aaked a question during the postgame last night and he said that is something we keep in house. I don't anticipate that happening with him. I also don't remember reading anything about D'Antoni from players other than after the sweep in the playoffs and stuff from his first two years when he struggled with some of his players.
