Short memory...I guess you don't remember the Portland game

Today even Woody admitted that he's not the overriding difference in why the team is playing like this. He hasn't totally changed up everything but those subtle changes have been good. Still this team isn't exactly clicking on all cylinders offensively. This has been about the improved intensity on D. You don't have to look any further than that. It's the same reason the team won during Linsanity. The DEFENSE was working on a high level. It was true then and it's true now.

I think a lot is different. These guys are playing as a team. The team has been playing defense at a championship level. There is no worry that guys won't fit in a point guard dominant offense. Everyone is buying in and the effort is off the charts. I think some guys might have needed a little more guidance, structure and leadership from their coach.

The defense is much better now than during Linsanity. It's obvious from the tip-off to the last minutes of the game. Not too many games during Linsanity were 82-79 playoff type grinders.

How about giving Woodson some credit. Defense is a top priority now. Thats whats changed. Have you read Amare and Chandlers quotes over the last week or so. Woodson stays on them, all the time, during shoot around, during the game, timeouts, practice. etc. The atmosphere has changed and the priority list has been flipped upside down. Defense and rebounding is first, second, third and fourth. Floor spacing is hovering somewhere around 6 or 7.

That is what makes a TON of difference. This idea that the players weren't being guided before is BS. They won without STAT, MELO, BARON and JR. The team is much deeper now, so they should be better, but let's not undersell what this team was accomplishing before with an undermanned squad. Woody was here for the losing too. Now what happens if Lin doesn't come up big at the end here and they lose? Melo was unable to save the team and what would everyone be saying then if they lost?

I love what Woody is doing with the team now. I'm 100% behind him, but one plus he's got is that even tho Melo is still not clicking, he at least is giving max effort which MDA never got from him cuz he was doggin it. Just don't tell me that MDA never got the players to play extremely hard for him cuz he did until guys came back and the returning guys dragged the energy down on D and O. No matter what crap people say, MDA has proven he can get teams to perform at a high level. Just cuz this didn't work out doesn't mean he sucks. Any way this is besides the point, this team is playing great again and they need to keep it going.

Nope! MDA really did SUUUUCKKK!

Amare is just learning how to play defense now? IT'S A MIRACLE!!

Mike D'Antoni sucks as a coach.

agreed

but keep in mind if Knicks shot 37% vs Philly and Michael 'Angelo' D'Antoni was knick coach that night
We'd lose the same game we won cause MDA woulda/coulda care less for defense end just as long as his lame ass
got the ball back for last possession on Offense.

That is why I'm happy he quit on Knicks and is Gone, Que Sera Sera !

So you're saying MDA is the reason that STAT is a poor defender? That makes ZERO sense. Why then did other players who played for MDA over the years seem to know what to do on defense? Do you even stop to think before you write this drivel? STAT and Melo playing poorly on D is 100% on them as players. Instruction is always given. It just depends on how important it is to each player whether they play good D or not.

Woody has been here since day one coaching D, so if the team stunk it would say something about him as well. Really only 2 guys have been habitual poor defenders. STAT and Melo. Now they're at least working harder and that is making a difference. It's really about those players choosing not to give that effort. As team leaders that is very disturbing.

I never think first, that takes away all the fun.

I write a bunch of crazy ideas on posteds, spread them out on my bed, get naked, roll around in them, and, whatever sticks to me, THATS WHAT I WRITE!

Here's one that just stuck to my ASS:

Stat was a super talented high flyer straight out of high school that has never played for a coach who held him accountable for playing defense.

Woodson was handcuffed by MDA's disdain for him. Now, Lin is saying that defensively, everything is much different (his defense sucked too under MDA), Fields sucked for MDA on D, The Team D sucked for MDA, MDA sucked as a defensive coach and was a one trick poney on offense.

"resigned" really means "you are going to fire me? I quit!"

Does his resignation and the reasons for it sound vaguely familiar? Did he not cite reasons for leaving the Suns as similar to this situation? When a GM asks him to deal with things as a coach should, he quits.

Good coaches find ways to adjust their systems to the talents they have. Bad coaches are inflexible and cannot figure out how to play any other way. Do you really think Popovich couldn’t find a way to eek out more wins with this group of quiters?

Time to make up more Posteds!
