And I was actually looking forward to doing nothing but watching the Knicks. Fortunately we have Jorts amd get Jeffries back soon and maybe get Amare back by the last week of the season.

The other fortunate thing is that with the Oxycodone I was given might not only easy my pain but ease the pain of dealing with a Knicks loss tonight and this awful Amare/Lin news but what can I expect from a cursed franchise. Prescription says to take 1 or 2 pills every 4hours if needed. So I started by taking only 1 as the first dose given to me at the hospital wore off and I could feel the pain coming.

Sorry UK family for my ramblin state. Amare if you're reading I'm here for you if you need a friend we can recover together!

Actually, you are supposed to take 4 every 1 or 2 hours.

I guess you shouldn't sniff 'em though with that nose work you had done....too bad, that would numb the pain of the 1st half.

Herniated/bulging discs are nothing to play with. Hopefully Amar'e will be able to recover quickly.

Wow man glad you made a full recovery core as you seemed to be walking fine the other night. I know Baron was shelved forever and this Amare one seems more serious with the leakage

Thanks, Guns. I am thankful for being able to recover, and can definitely identify when I hear about others having back/disc issues. I was overjoyed when I saw Baron Davis get back in the groove after his herniated disc, an now, here we go again.

You mentioned leaking? Is Amare's disc just bulging, or is it ruptured?

I guarantee Amar'e has surgery soon.

There you go Core Marbs answered it for you there

I'm so glad Amar'e put that extra weight on and corrected his posture.

But not if that disk pops!

Wow. Amare can't catch a break. I hope he can come back from this.

Aw damn... I missed his post.

If they caught it soon enough, hopefully there won't be any nerve damage, which significantly increases recovery time. If he needs surgery, he's done for the season, though.

Amar'e was just starting to get his rhythm back, too.

Alan Hahn just said, during the postgame, that Amar'e is going to have a "non-surgical" procedure and will be re-evaluated after he gets some rest.

We can only hope that he's able to return this season.

Well the fact that he has 3 years left on this really stupid contract means that the knicks have to be really really careful. This injury can re-occur at any time.

I think back surgery is a pretty scary thing but it sounds like based on your experience and what other posters have shared that he will need surgery. He has overcome and come back from a lot. I wouldn't count him out but for a guy who is all about athleticism this is a really bad break.

Alan Hahn reported that it will be a NON-SURGICAL procedure.

It looks as if they're trying to be extremely careful, especially considering the ininsurable investment...

Amar'e will have to be careful, too. The last thing this team needs is more key players injured. We're coming down the stretch, man... The timing isn't good- but when is it ever "good timing" for an athlete to (re-)injure himself?

Yeah - the issue is, he came to the knicks with a myriad of know issues and injuries. I guess it was desperation.

why is everyone making a big deal about insurance?

First, it was his knee, not his back that was the concern, and then his eye.

Next, the only one hurt by the inability to insure his contract his Dolan. And he can't raise ticket prices anymore, can he?

Finally, if he were forced to retire, his contract would come off the cap just as any insured contract would.

I can live with his back being hurt - except as far as he should have gotten better treatment and advice in the off season after he hurt it last year.

Well that is not exactly true. He becomes untradable with the contract being uninsured. It is a very big issue.

Yeah, this hasn't been a good season for Amar'e at all.

In comparison to my experience, Amar'e's situation may not be as bad because they detected the problem early, before any irreversable nerve damage took place.

Back surgery is scary, but oddly enough, I wasn't scared at all. I am just glad to have gotten the surgery before the nerve damage was permanent.

If Amar'e can recover after that non-surgical procedure, then by no means is it as serious as it sounds. That's will be all the better, because this team needs all the hands on deck as possible for the stretch run.

Yeah, it's why even the early trade rumors regarding Amar'e were debunked so quickly. Most GMs are reportedly not willing to take the risk.

Now that Amar'e is on the Knicks payroll for the next few years, he'll have to do his best to stay healthy and help this team win like he said he came here to do.

If I were a betting man, I don't think he plays more than 50 pct of the games for the remainder of his contract.

A bulging disc does not require surgery, generally just rest. Many people play with bulging discs and experience ZERO pain - it just depends on if the disc is touching a nerve, and more importantly, oddly enough, if the surrounding muscle tissue is tensed due to being in a protection mode. I discovered this out via going to health practitioners here in Germany years ago. He probably had the bulging disc for a while and it just got aggravated. I get the feeling he will be back before you know it.
