I was gonna say same thing but didn't feel like searching through previous threads where Nixluva was taking "victory laps" during our streaks as we all where.

Don't you guys know, we won the Championship after we beat the Mavericks on National TV during Linsanity!

Is that the same Mavericks team that is 10 and 14 on the road?

Nah, they're the defending Champions man! Throw out all stats and records out the window!

Under Woodson, GENUINE Signs Of Improvement

http://offthedribble.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/29/under-woodson-genuine-signs-of-improvement/

Genuine

Using Thursday’s standings, the teams the Knicks faced during their first streak have a combined winning percentage of 40.6 percent. Over the last nine games, the Knicks’ opponents have a more robust 47.9 percent combined winning percentage, meaning Woodson’s Knicks have faced and defeated tougher opponents.

Just as important is how handily the Knicks have won those games. During Linsanity, New York won three games by 10 points or more, and none by more than 15. Under “Woodsanity,” the team has had seven double-digit victories and four of them were by more than 15 points. During this romp, New York has averaged an impressive margin of victory of 18.3 points, 10 points more than their previous streak.

Numerous studies show that teams are better defined by dominating inferior opponents than by winning close games, which means point differential is a better indication of a team’s strength than actual wins. In layman’s terms, during close games any team can end up victorious with a lucky shot or a fortunate whistle.

But it’s unlikely that a team could wander into a blowout by chance. The Knicks’ expected win percentage, a formula that estimates how many games a team would win based on its points for and against, with Woodson at the helm is 89.6 percent. (If New York played at that level for the entire season, its record would be 46-5 instead of 26-25.)

So while Linsanity might have been caused more by a weak schedule and a handful of fortunate plays, this current win streak is clearly a result of the Knicks playing better.

MDA didn't have as much depth during that stretch but both coaches found success getting a ton out of the teams they had. All I'm saying is that I'm happy for Woody and he seems like a great fit for the team but you don't have to kick dirt on MDA as a coach for Woody to be appreciated. MDA is a good coach in his own right and so far Woody is showing he is also a good coach but his job has only just begun!!! Don't get too far ahead of yourselves in praising just yet. Lawrence Frank once had a run like this that got up to 13 games and then things leveled off and reality set in. We'll see what Woody does and hopefully Melo's early suckage doesn't create too deep a hole to get out of for Woody. There are some challenging games ahead.

Dems are some GOOD APPLES - Damn! I hate when you SPEAK THE TRUTH!!

All I needed to see was that STAT CAN ACTUALLY PLAY DEFENSE and he is not just dumb - to realize how badly they were coached and not held accountable before.

True they might not do better than the 8th seed hence not make it out of the first round but that will only be due to our owner waiting too long to realize how badly this TEAM was underachieving for their coach.

It's like all your posts are in my head today before you write it, Earl. Uncanny! With the Linsanity team, I was guardedly optimistic that may win a game or 2 possibly a series if they made the playoffs. But with this Woodsanity group, if they secure a decent seed somewhere, you know they're capable of winning a round or 2 in the playoffs because of the way they play, the style of play, the effort, the intangibles. Grinding out wins and not mentioning things like "Flow" or "Spacing" or "Ball being too sticky" yadayada. When the first thing you hear out of the Coach at the post game is "Defense" you know this team is headed in the right direction.

We saw MDA have success with this team minus Melo. Melo never gave MDA the effort that we see him giving now. If he had there's no way this team is struggling to lock up the 8th seed. This is really a dumb argument, since both coaches have had about the same level of success in the league, MDA perhaps a bit more, but overall MDA had to fight with his star player rather than that player basically doing his job and giving max effort from day one.

And I know some with say look at the defense but lets remember that this team defended better statistically all year when Melo wasn't playing. The same went for STAT, but with Melo it's clear he could easily have played harder all the time. He basically went from doggin it to bustin his hump in one afternoon. You can't say it was Woody's coaching when he hadn't even coached one practice before we saw a renewed Melo on defense!!!! Woody didn't even had a chance to make any changes in the D and the players admitted that it was mostly just effort. They gave that same effort during Linsanity when Melo wasn't playing. Things only got bad when he came back!!! So basically Melo didn't play for MDA. Maybe he didn't like his accent. Melo played for Woody without so much as a practice to work off of. It was too abrupt a turnaround for my taste. I don't want my teams best player acting like that.

We'd better all hope to God that Melo hasn't damaged the teams chances this year by his dogging it most of the year. We should be leading the Atlantic.
