Knicks · Baron Davis was supposed to be the saviour for the Knicks!?! (page 1)

SlimChin @ 4/3/2012 11:47 PM
And there was talk of him starting over Lin!? It's not even his physical limitations that's hurting the Knicks. It's the poor decision making and chucking up 3s with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. He's dreadful. Woodson was on his case too.

Baron Davis sucks - he has always sucked just in different ways. I said this before they got him, when they got him and still say it. Selfish POS with no brains

Nalod @ 4/4/2012 12:10 AM

We made him the savior pre-Linsanity. He was our hope.

Good thing Linsanity came. Baron is limited and the shots not falling. The defense sags on him and we lose our space.

earthmansurfer @ 4/4/2012 3:46 AM
When Baron comes in for 10 - 15 minutes AFTER LIN GOES OUT then he isn't bad. He is sort of held accountable in that he see's Lin performing and running the team well and then plays within himself more. NOW there is nothing to compare himself against - yeah, that is an excuse. But I'm trying to say that Baron can be ok off the bench and following Lin. When he runs things, it doesn't work that well.
Bonn1997 @ 4/4/2012 7:39 AM
It's amazing that without Linsanity, we'd be finishing the season as probably a .400 team.

Thats cool cause without MDA or Linsanity we'd probably finish as a .700 team WITH ABE LINCOLN AS OUR PG!

It was sad then. It's sadder now. Bdiddy = sag.

HugeKnick4 @ 4/4/2012 8:49 AM
BD is a "marginal" PG.
fishmike @ 4/4/2012 9:07 AM
Melo is the savior. Everyone enjoy last nights game?
Nalod @ 4/4/2012 9:38 AM

Saviors get tired too.

We need a messiah, not a savior!

Messiahs don't need rest and they play hurt and with the flu. Then they go to Atlantic City and then sleep a few hours before a shoot around. Take a nap and do it all again.

There must be something wrong. I've waken up still with annoyance at how Baron Davis and possibly Woody mishandled the 4th quarter. OK, so the Pacers make a small run. You bring your starters back in. Your goal is to get a couple of stops in and one or two buckets in to break the momentum. Instead, they forget Granger (I don't know if the coach or the player was at fault). That's one area. Then, because Davis can't guard any guard worthy of starting, Chandler has to trap up high. So everyone has to scramble, giving other guys open looks and Amundsen free roam under the basket.

Then the offense - instead of getting any flow going. Davis walks up, pounds, pounds (with no ability to attack) and then drops it off to Melo. No flow, nothing. Lin would have at least tried one decent attack with a dish or fou;l. We lost that game when the lead when from 10 to 5. It was expected Indiana would claw some of the 15 points back (Harrelson looked like a rookie); it was up to us to respond. And for some reason Davis and Woodson's brains froze at that critical point.

No need to overanalyze it. We simply lost to a better team.

We had them on their backs at the end of the third quarter. that's why teams like Boston do well. They bring it when it needs to be brought, and we didn't in that crucial 4 minute stretch in the 4th quarter. They weren't the better team.

No way...we lost because we got complacent. Knicks were overconfident/complacent at the start of the 4th. We allowed the Pacers to become re-energized...and then it snowballed.

This team is not going to beat many other teams regardless of anything the coach does. You could just look at the rosters and know in the beginning that Indiana would almost definitely win.
BasketballJones @ 4/4/2012 1:18 PM

All I ever knew about Baron Davis was that he was often injured. He was also in a youtube video with Steve Nash, so I figured: Maybe he's as good as Steve Nash when he isn't injured.

Leading up to this season, we didn't have any good options (that we knew about) at PG, so we loaded Baron down with some major expectations. Maybe he still has some upside coming off the injury and rounding into playing form?

Syniko @ 4/4/2012 3:54 PM
Baron Davis probably doesn't even care enough just as long as he gets to go home and throw his feet up in a nicely air conditioned mansion at the end of the day. He's touted as the team superstar, a premier PG for the Knicks and he plays like a bench rider whereas Lin plays like the superstar that Knicks have always wanted.

Step up your damn game, BD.

Maybe he should've went to clown school with Melo.

Baron Davis isn't worthy enough to be a clown.

baron is a very good backup but once he gets strater minutes he cant do much. I mean he got beat everytime,he made two of the dumbest fouls and one of those cost us the game, and he cant shoot

dude your out of your mind..woody got out coach in that game..he press the wrong buttons and sort of panick when the pacers cut it to 10. I know he felt like the lead was slipping quickly and he needed to throw his starters back in..IMO he should have left them in there longer, try to get novak a couple of three's to break the momentum

Baron doesn't penetrate nearly enough, and he doesn't see Novak enough, his focus is on melo and chandler. yeah he's lost a step, but he's showed signs. He sometimes plays like a guy who's trying to prove he's still got it athleticlly, but other times he plays like a veteren crafty player.

Even if he plays within his limitations, thats still slightly above average.ITS when he starts thinking he's 21 things go bad for him, not to metion his unfamilarity with the rest of the starters
