Knicks · OT: Mavs release Odom (page 2)

MarburyAnd1Crossover @ 4/9/2012 3:48 PM
But what if his cat dies or he has a fight with Khloe? Then you lose your investment and you poison the well.

Red flag, red flag on this guy's bald head.

holfresh @ 4/9/2012 4:17 PM
Awwww, this is a no brainer for us...Odom will do well here...He fits perfectly behind STAT if he really can't go and plays the perfect off guy..Rebounds well, passes well, and can handle the ball...This guy right now will look to stick it to the Lakers...What a better place than NY, his home town...He is 32 years old and knows how to win can get in better shape for next year...This kid is a winner...I'm sure he is looking for a re-du and will do a home town discount to prove everyone wrong...Give him the vet minimum and tell him come to camp in shape and let's make a run at a ring...The Kardashian thing is a speed bump but this is so perfect it's unbelievable....

Hey they can do another Kardashian spin off show! Everyone wins. Khloe and Lamar take Manhattan!

SupremeCommander @ 4/9/2012 6:42 PM
just to clarify, Odom was not released. He was allowed to take an indefinite leave from the team.

His cousin was murdered, he was an accident where a teen died, and he had previously lost an infant. He's going to take the time to sort shit out

From the basketball side, the Cuban isn't stupid and would't entertain the possibility that he woudl be able to return to the Lakers this season

While Odom still has the versatile ability to be a starter in this league, he sacrificed those minutes without unrest to come off of the bench for the 2009 and '10 champion Lakers. His interior scoring and rebounding, especially, would be a big boost for the Knicks, whose subs this season currently average 12.1 boards per game - tied for fourth-worst in the league with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Overall, Odom would be a huge upgrade over Jared Jeffries and Josh Harrellson, and he would make the Knicks instant title contenders in 2013, along with a proven point guard and a frontcourt featuring Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler.

And if there is any other positive to a potential Odom sighting in New York, it's that Chandler played in Dallas and raised the banner there in 2011. Chandler knows how to get it done, and perhaps that extra recruiting and championship connection will come in handy this summer. - ESPN

Bring Lamar Home

JrZyHuStLa @ 4/9/2012 10:16 PM
Mike Woodson has his team's concentration on winning basketball games with effort and defense.

Lamar Odom would not help that cause.

Anyone who is not willing to contribute to a winnng style must stay away.

Vmart @ 4/9/2012 10:24 PM
I would bring in Odoms Knicks need a back up to Amare and Odoms actually fits the Knicks needs.

If JR Smith can be reprogrammed to make defense a priority.

Lamar Odom can learn the joy of an effective trap.

Odom can play either 4 or 5 also. NY would be a good change of scenery for him I think.

How many rings does Odom have?

"give me your tired, huddled 6'10 forwards yearning to run with Carmelo Antho-nee"

I think Lamar has two strikes with the nba drug policy. Being back with his boys might be a bit tough for him. I don't think the Knicks should go there unless it is for the minimum.
crzymdups @ 4/10/2012 12:51 AM
i would sign up for lamar odom in a HEART. BEAT.

but next season, not right now.

lamar is a dynamic rebounding, scoring, passing forward off the bench. he could split time at the 4 with amar'e. it'd be pretty perfect.

though i think he finds a way to one of the LA teams. he needs to be able to cameo on the kardashian show.

Anji @ 4/10/2012 3:48 AM
JJ2 And Odom off the to me would be akin to the Bulls being able to bring Omar and Gibson off the bench.

Our team defense would be off the charts if that was the front court teams had to look forward to when Chandler was out of the game.

JamesLin @ 4/10/2012 6:42 AM
Those that think Odom is good for the Knicks (or any contending teams), you gotta put the Odom pipe DOWN! I've watched him playing in Los Angeles for a long time and frankly, this guy got no heart. He really doesn't play basketball because he loves the sport. He plays because he has some talent doing this and gets paid a lot of money for it. He joins his wife's TV show and that really pissed off the front office because you can't split time practicing and rehearsals within 24 hours a day. He went to Mavs, a defending champion team, and they couldn't take it. The guy is a consistent drag for the team spirits. He's cool with everyone, but everyone didn't want to say anything bad about him yet he plays as if it's just another gig. Forget the weed part cuz frankly, I believe most NBA players do smoke the greens. He's a special case, he really doesn't care. Put him on Knicks team, and watch everyone else picks up his slack. Tyson will probably punch him in the face one day if he joined.
jrodmc @ 4/10/2012 10:28 AM
Despite the JR precedent, I have to say Odom'd look great in a suit next to JJ on the bench.

Very frightening.

There's more:

LINK

At halftime of his final game with the Dallas Mavericks Saturday night, Lamar Odom had an angry exchange with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban in the visitors' locker room in Memphis, according to sources familiar with the discussion.

Sources told ESPNDallas.com that the heated words were "the culmination" of an exasperating weekend. That convinced team officials to initiate discussions on Easter that led to the parties agreeing split for the rest of the season.

According to sources, the crux of the heated halftime confrontation was Cuban asking Odom if he was "in or out." Sources said Odom, who had played only four minutes in the first half, reacted angrily to the question and did not take his seat on the bench until after the third quarter began.

This was not the first time that Cuban had confronted Odom during a game. During a March 6 win over the New York Knicks, Cuban shouted at Odom from the owner's seat near the Mavs bench after the forward's failure to hustle back on defense resulted in an uncontested layup for New York's Landry Fields. Cuban and Odom both downplayed that incident, with Cuban pointing out that he's a passionate fan who frequently yells at players.

...so he's done for the season, and is not being actuially released?

Lamar O-DUMB may need to take that time to grow a pair. That crying about being traded from the Lakers had me hoping that someone would tell him to pop a pamprin.

DurzoBlint @ 4/11/2012 10:57 AM
don't want to see his ugly ass wife in the Garden.

Of all the women in the world Lamar, you choose this neckless trog.

Hahahahahahah

She's not the most beautiful thing, but she could definitely get it!

Odom's situation make him a cash strapped contender's dream. He deserves the Knicks closest eye. Bring in Lamar and PJax and let the frenzy ensue.

Tyson
Amare
Melo
Odom
Novak?
Fields
Shump
Lin

Phil providing the Zen.

I'd miss Jeffries. He stands for everything that's good about America.
