We will continue to miss him if we can't get any kind of floor leadership from Baron, TD or Shump. Also Woody had no answers out there. The offense has been devolving and grinding down into sludge slowly over time. This is not a playoff level offense right now and it's more than a lack of PG play.
nixluva wrote:If you are referencing the 18-24 offense that looked good for 7 games then I disagree. The Knicks d will keep them in games against any team if they continue to play the way they have the last 15 games. I do think it is concerning that Douglas regressed so much tonight. He didn't make it back into the game until it was over. From what I have seen of Woodson, he is pretty commited to a subsitution pattern and Toney not getting back in could be a bad sign for Toney. Also, Jeffries hasn't blown as many shots as did tonight in a long time.CrushAlot wrote:CashMoney wrote:We split with the Bulls and are still in the hunt. That is all.I agree. He tries but hesitating on an open layup is just bad not to mention his jump shooting. They started off the game trying to get him into it but he just lost his three.
I agree that Fields is part of the problem. Douglas sucked tonight and the Knicks really need him. Jeffries was vintage on offense. A lot went wrong.

It's silly to bring up the 18-24 record as if the problem was that the offense wasn't good enough to win. You can play good D, but you also have to play SMART BB. that's really all the Bulls did. They set picks and forced switches and moved the ball and had player movement leading to open shots and that's all i'm talking about. We didn't do enough of that. We didn't put enough pressure on their defense to create good looks. Yes we missed some open shots, but we also had long stretches of BAD BB. This has been coming for a while. They must fix these problems.
In case you guys haven't noticed this team is still fighting for the 8th seed. Hopefully they get their heads straight for tomorrow night. The Bucks don't defend like the Bulls but they can score. Gotta get that win.

how so when Melo is the only one you can rely on to get something going. Novak and Smith have been off. What do you want to see Woodson run more plays for Fields & Jeffries?

Nixlula, how efficient was the knicks offense prior to Lin?
Prior to Lin we still had the bad Melo who couldn't shoot straight and was getting his shot blocked. The Bulls weren't doing anything special on D that more ball and player movement wouldn't have helped to solve. Our offense was simple, easy to defend and dumb. Dumb as in the players weren't playing smart team oriented BB. The Bulls don't really have a great PG minus Rose either, but they played SOLID TEAM BALL. They played smart. That's how they ended up with 27 assists!!!
You guys are acting like what i'm saying is some foreign concept. It's just basic smart BB and nothing special. If you have threats you run plays to get them open looks. Even if you don't have a great PG. You just watched a team do that to us and yet you guys wanna disregard it. Stop trying to make this about SSOL or MDA. It's about this team now finding ways to win against the very teams we'll have to face in the playoffs. Woody has to come up with some kinds of answers for the problems the teams faces cuz all we've got is Baron, TD, Shump etc.
How did the Bulls get shots for Korver and Hamilton?

gunsnewing wrote:Don't worry Melo will be traded in the offseason and Dantoni will be brought back to coach the team
It's not about that, but I guess that all of you guys will never understand the points being made. You can try and make this about me and MDA, but Woody is the coach now and he's the one that has to figure out the answers to the problems his team faces right now. It's a fight just to stay in the playoffs right now and they have no margin for error.
I'm not wrong in suggesting that the team has to have more ball movement and player movement to make up for the fact that they don't have great PG play. What's the alternative? To just give up and say "well the Bulls are just too good of a defensive team and our PG suck"? The Knicks offense has progressively gotten more and more stagnant and i've said that this was a problem that could jump up and bite us. It doesn't show up so much against normal teams, but against playoff teams that play tough D it can be a problem. They have to maintain good Team oriented ball and player movement. Melo can't play 48 minutes and take all the shots!!!

And bad Stat and bad knicks and bad coach and bad defense and bad rebounding and bad OFFENSE and many many many bad shots and ... many bad losses
smackeddog wrote:I'm not so bothered about this loss, but I am very concerned about the Bucks game- Woodson should have kept Melo and Chandlers minutes down, instead they played about 37 to 39. That's too many, the Bucks game is much more important from a standings point of view as it essentially counts as two games. Now we're going into it tired (the Bulls game was late too), while the Bucks are rested and out for revenge (see Jennings comments).
Completely agree though every game at this point is crucial.

Why are you ignoring the fact that the team was in a better place when Melo had come back and his poor play and poor attitude negatively effected the entire team? If he came back with the same energy and dedication that he's been playing with since MDA resigned perhaps this team wouldn't be in the mess they're in. It's still in the Knicks hands to beat the Bucks and Wiz and solidify their spot in the playoffs, but let's not pretend that this team wasn't negatively impacted by Melo's bad play and bad attitude for most of the year. Yes there were other factors, but Melo was the major factor as the central figure of this team.

Wrong!! The major factor was the coach who had no phuckin clue how to use his superstar correctly or get Stat to play defense. Its so DOPE that these are no longer affecting this beautiful team.
