Knicks · "When Steve Novak Misses It Is A Miscarriage Of Justice" (page 1)
Oh yeah, Novak dropped 25 points
Has there ever been a player whose shot attempts are greeted with more anticipation from the MSG crowd?
When he misses it's like someone stole Christmas.
The roar started the moment Stevie Wonder got his feet set, JR Smith did an outstanding job of finding him.
It is a beautiful thing.
Moonangie wrote:Too bad we are gonna lose JR next season. He is a real glue player who can get on a hot streak like Starks used to do.
Never underestimate the bond between coach and player. JR Smith loves the bright lights. Denver is a clean city and the mountains are breathtaking - but it is nowhere near the excitement and glamour in the biggest of apples. If there is a significant money issue, the Knicks will find a way to make it work.
No biggie.
Give him the money and enable the dark side? Or he mans up and becomes a solid professional in his preperation of games and his body in the off season.
Enable the dark side?
Since when was the dark side a bad thing?
JR Smith has done everything asked of him in New York. He has conformed and turned up his defensive effort.
He is probably talking to a tatoo removal specialist as we speak. Image is everything.
Keep him.
RichardVincentGuerin - My favorite moment was towards the end when Novak wanted to celebrate a 3 and Melo looked at him like, “we aren’t celebrating anything yet” game face. My appreciation of that moment is boundless. It feels like he wants to play and win, it didn’t earlier this season
Hahn mentioned on twitter that Melo also let out a “Calm the f—- down” that, well, calmed everyone down.
Tommy2cat - Melo’s stern look to Novak spoke volumes about Melo’s state of mind, not just about this game, but about the rest of this season. Has something to do with Melo’s recognition that giddiness can quickly lead to sadness if expressed too early before the end of a game.
Carmelo trusting Novak is huge.
Did somebody say third scorer?

I am a big fan of JR Smith's talent. Dude has max contract talent.
The Dark Side is the enabled egocentric athlete who takes his talent for granted.
That is the other side of JR and the one that has kept him from reaching his potential.
He has done a great job assimilating onto this team.
If we have the money he is a risk. Does he continue his good play and maturity or squander it?
I don't know the answer. Fans are never too close to players to make that call.

I for one (out of many) doubted JR's manicness act was going to jell here.
He's been in the league for awhile. He's not the enabled rich kid athelete.
He's been to China and seen what life is like without the league; I've got to believe China had him grow up some.
Melo and Chandler are vicious, grown men, one without a ring and a huge chip on the shoulder, one with a ring and huge chip on his shoulder. They remind me of the killer menacement that could have been Ewing/BK. That has to have a calming affect on a kid from Lakewood.
Woodson don't seem to take sheet from anyone, and he seems to like JR.
Home games this year at MSG have to make playing in Denver seem like dull practices at St. Anthony's. Somehow, I think that sticks with him. Juice has to count for something.
Fields' days are numbered.
JR's post games seem calm and measured.
I think he gets it.
I just hope Dolan does. We cannot let JR or Novak disappear.

dont get too attached.... good chance both are gone. JR is playing himself into a full MLE contract at least and Novak will probably get something like that also whever MDA shows up. Not trying to be doom and gloom, but all signs point to using the MLE to lock up Lin
fishmike - what role does Mike D'Antoni play in signing Steve Novak?
Novak was signed by Glen Grunwald, yes?
What "signs" are you referring to?
The best sign that JR Smith is staying in New York? He is rocking blue and silver AirJordan 9's. Those bad boys are difficult to find. He looks good in them.

fishmike--I agree. This looks bad if we only have 5mm MLE to resign Lin Smith and Novak---even Fields---while we can replace him--at the prices we can afford---is there a 24 year old 6-7 210 pd player who does 10-4-3 out there. He was a guy who if his shot didnt go south was in line for 6-7mm per. NBA teams--imho will go 2.5mm for him now.
The thing is--Novak is the best 3pt shooter in the nBA when you are the best at something in the NBA--youre going to get 5mm per for 3 years(15mm at a minimum) I dont know all of the new rules but if we can only spend 5mm on one guy--our team will be ripped down some. I seriously would consider sign and trading Lin to a team like Utah for something like Favors and a very high draft pick. I dont think PG is necessarily a 6mm dollar need on this team.
Anyway, I say he signs a lucrative deal with the New York Dentists Association to be their spokesperson and sticks with us at the vet's minimum.

I think if we go over the luxury tax line, then there's no MLE. This includes vet min contracts as well. After the lux tax line and cap are set, pretty sure signing Lin is a priority for whoever the GM is, not sure where we stand after that and how it will affect Novak. JR is already a Knick next year unless he opts out...a good playoff run can only help in retaining these guys

lin will make more $ off the court playing in ny with the largest population of asians then he would anywhere else.

Dolan will give anything to sign Lin as this is a big eighteen wheeler of cache...
If some $$$ will left Novak will be the next...
JR is not bringing any money in Dolan's pocket... not sure he will be around next year.
