Knicks · Vote for Defensive Player of the Year (page 1)

TC of course...This kid changed the defensive makeup of an entire team...How many can say that....Well deserved if he gets it...
Bonn1997 @ 4/21/2012 3:26 PM
I'd vote for TC too. We might get a biased sample here though!
aienjell @ 4/21/2012 3:52 PM
Also playing injured almost all year, he's the heart and soul of this team.
loweyecue @ 4/21/2012 4:04 PM
I voted TC, Deng is the one who came close. He has to guard the most skilled players in the league.
Bonn1997 @ 4/21/2012 4:30 PM
10 out 10 for TC. I doubt the actual voting will be unanimous though!
ChuckBuck @ 4/23/2012 12:53 AM
Tyson, no doubt.
Knicksfan @ 4/23/2012 1:46 AM
Really trying not to be a homer here, but Tyson Chandler IS a team's defense. The stats with him on defense are great, but those without him are really telling.

Likw Jeff Van Gundy's vote, mine goes to Ty!

Looking at that list made me realise that I haven't watched ANY non-Knick basketball games this season, due to the compressed schedule. I don't have a clue how any player is doing outside of the games we've played against them- is anyone else in the same boat?

Very little.

Have not even caught any "KNuggets" games at all!

But we can get everything we need to be fair and objective from "youTube" highlights!

IrishKnickFan @ 4/23/2012 11:38 AM
Tyson deserves it i mean besides shumpert he is the main reason why we have been a better defensive team. i mean he already got snubbed from the all-star team. But they will probably give it to teh "stars" like lebron or dwight
HARDCOREKNICKSFAN @ 4/23/2012 11:42 AM
This is one of those bear-trap polls... There will be a witch hunt for those who didn't pick Tyson Chandler.

IMHO, he gets it, hands down.

Ha- probably true! my first reaction on looking at the results was "Who voted Serge Ibaka?!"

Well, Serge Ibaka is averaging a full 1.5 bpg more than anyone else in the league. It's not absurd to vote for him.

mrKnickShot @ 4/23/2012 1:43 PM
This poll/voting base is way too biased. It would be interesting to take Tyson out just to see some real opinions of who else was at the top.
ATrain @ 4/24/2012 4:50 PM
Iman Shumpert. I really wish he was up for this
iGotNext @ 4/25/2012 1:06 PM
TC has pretty much had his way head to head with the reigning DPOY DH, and more importantly, he has been the active ingredient in the K'Bockers defensive resurgence, along w/Iman and Woody's defensive philosophy.
MSG3 @ 4/25/2012 1:13 PM
Of course we are biased, but only Dwight has as good a case, and he's been injured. No other player besides Dwight changes the quality of an entire team's defense like TC does for the Knicks. Really an incredible feat to turn us into a good defensive unit

Lebron James to me is hands down the best defensive player in the NBA. He can guard all 5 positions, can shut down MVP guards like D Rose when it counts and can completely take a team out of its offense.

He was great against Melo yesterday with fronting him and being extremely physical. I hope Melo can find a way to score on him in game 2.

I still LOVE TYSON but I think Lebron wins this (or should).

Who says I voted?

And, I don't need to be a rooster.

Let me retract a bit ... Chandler definitely deserves consideration I just think that Lebron deserves it possibly more than him.

Here is a good article that I just found:

http://hoopspeak.com/2012/03/lebron-jame...

"During a March 4th loss to the Lakers, ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst tweeted the following: “On road trip LeBron has guarded: Marcus Camby, Pau Gasol, Earl Watson, P. Millsap, G. Wallace, Kobe, Metta & Steve Blake to name a few.”

With Miami’s already questionable front line further depleted by the loss of Chris Bosh for a few games, the league’s most physically gifted, technically proficient, and mainframe intelligent defensive player enthusiastically accepted diverse assignments that nobody else in the league would even be asked to take on. In their loss to the Lakers, James exerted the maximum amount of energy several possessions, battling Pau Gasol for position while Kobe Bryant was busy stabbing Shane Battier in the eye with jump shot daggers. With Wade having a poor all around game, struggling to find offensive rhythm and continuously forcing the issue on defense (to the point where it looked as though he really didn’t want to play, and maybe he didn’t), it was a game where LeBron seemingly had to do everything on both ends of the court. Yet Robo-Bron didn’t show the slightest bit of fatigue. Instead of the traditional expectations that come with a small forward getting overpowered by a seven-footer, LeBron played like a tiger eating a giraffe for lunch."

And yes. I did vote for Lebron
