Jordan Hill didn't suck in Houston. He was quality bench player on a team loaded with power forwards. Hill's biggest crime is that he was drafted ahead of guys like Brandon Jenning and Ty Lawson—guys who could've helped this team. Jordan Hill doesn't need to be trashed to justify the trade. To be honest, I never even looked back at the trade until this thread popped up. Could we use a guy like Hill on the bench? Sure. Is his loss franchise altering? Heck no. What he help us in the Miami series? Unless he's learned how to dribble the ball under pressure and make plays running the pick and roll, then the answer is no.

Just remember Kwame Brown got 1 yr at 7 million. That puts things in perspective.
But this guy was high draft pick, played ahead of Jeffries in Houston (
) AND he choked his girlfriend - Surely he is worth an extra $3M just for that? Makes sense he ends up on the same team as Meta World Peace.
JKidd smacked his wife in the face and that did/does not stop many here for pining for him
If you had been here longer you would have seen people defend Vick as well. Not surprising at all, just sad.
Jordan Hill was mishandled while he was here and undervalued to the point where he the Knicks gave up a top 5 draft pick with him to move Jeffries. He was not buried on the bench and not developed by his coach because he anticipated that he was going to commit domestic violence 3 years later. Hill choking his girlfriend is totally wrong. D'Antoni not playing Hill as the 7th pick in the draft on that team that year was also totally wrong. I don't think anyone is pining away for Jordan Hill. I do think people are pissed at how he was handled and devalued while he was here. Personally that is my position.
its hard to be devalued when you aren't any good to begin with.
They knew when they drafted him that he was a couple of year project and whaddya know ...
You're right. He was considered a project. Its pretty puzzling why he couldn't get minutes on a 29 win team that wasn't competing for the playoffs and didn't have a pick.
Because he was probably dogging it and blowing up plays - like Melo and Kobe.
So I guess that makes Jordan Hill as good as Melo and Kobe now, since all three have being equally criticize. Right?
what am I missing? Dude has averages of like 5-6 points per game for every season he's been in the league, and through 5 play off games.
Did the sample size get too large for Jordan Hill to be a super star?
Jerome James anyone?

it's pathetic.
no one is spouting prophetically after last night either.
20mins, 0pts (0-4fg), 5rebs, 1 blk
those are some good minutes.

I have to give this one to MDA. When Hill was here, I thought MDA should have played him more to develop him.
In retrospect, it seems there was nothing to develop, and as far as keeping his value high, not playing him was the best option.
[sarcasm] Jordan "World-Beater" Hill with the monster game last night!!!!!!!!!!!! [/sarcasm]
The guy may end up a decent player in a few years but any and all crying about the trade of this guy is ridiculous at this point and will be into the future.
Donnie Walsh's worst draft pick by far during his Knick tenure. Especially considering when there was quality point guards on the board like Brandon Jennings, Jrue Holliday, Ty Lawson, Jeff Teague, Eric Maynor, and Darren Collison right there for the taking. Drafting was never his strong suit even in Indiana, signing and trading free agents and managing the salary cap was.
MDA didn't get rid of Hill though. Walsh pulled the trigger so that we could have the cap space to go after Lebron and Amare or Wade or Bosh or Johnson.
Jordan Hill I think turned into Felton.

You know I disagree on this. Shumpert's playtime when D'Antoni was coach proves that he plays rookies that are good. Jordan Hill was not good. When he played, he was not good. For whatever reason he's doing better in LA. Big men take 5 years to develop. Isn't it 5 years now?
I tried to warn you guys during draft day. I played against Hill in Tucson, AZ. I'm 6ft with shoes on, and I was giving Hill some problems on defense. Just using my lower body strength. At that point, I knew he was suspect....But as a Knick fan, I was hoping for the best.
Donnie drafted him on pure potential....Bad timing on his part, since PG was the obvious hole to fill. Defense was the other hole that Walsh was trying to fix with Hill....But you don't draft a PF with defense potential, when you need to hit home runs to fill critical positions (PG & Center).

That sounds more like an NBA player just not being motivated to play 100% in a pickup game against some 5'10" amateur (no offense).
When I was in the 9th grade I played ball against Phil Weber. He was on a private school team and they were good.
He was an arrogant prick and they were having some with us. He put up a jump shot at the foul line with a grin on his face and I stuffed it into his grill.
HIs hair was awesome then also. So was mine. Mine is gone and his is still awesome.
Bottom line?
Jordan Hill is a good sub on an excellent Laker team with a strong front line. Maybe he he was a bad pick and did not play hard.
All teams make mistakes and sometimes players don't try when they should.
Phil Weber is unemployed and IM not!

Yeah, but would you trade places with Phil if it meant you could get your awesome hair back?

Yikes. That was blunt.
Well blkexec would probably beat my 5'6" ass in a game of one on one. So context matters. But yeah it was blunt.
Knicks should have drafted blkexec.

As the first player/coach/assistant GM in league history!

I can't post at work and I didn't stay up to watch. Not great numbers. Doesn't change my opinion on how he was handled in his rookie year.
