Its cool man. I just dont get how no one was complaining about Novak not getting enough touches in the regular season when he was lighting up bad defensive teams. All of a sudden woodson couldnt get him open? I think its pretty obvious that Miami's defense was overwhelming. Remember Novak in the Chicago game that Melo singlehandedly won. Novak was awful in that game too. Why because Chicago is problably the 2nd best defensive team in the east behind the Heat.
to say novak doesn't have a fast release is nut. he might not be fast athletically but his release is VERY quick.

He has one of the quickest releases in the league which is a testament to how slow he really is
Say Novak was able to get off a few more shots would that really make a difference? Would that cure Tysons Flu. Would that have kep shump from tearing his acl? Would that have kept Amare from punching a fire extinguisher. Would that have kept Baron from tearing every part of his knee? Melo wasnt great but be has a pass this time because Lebron gave him fits defensively. I think people are being too hard on Woodson. This was on the players. Oh and it didnt help that JR shot 30%. Jeffries with a busted knee was also useless.
I'd rather see Novak either take contested shots or shoot open shots from 28 feet out than see JR take fifteen off balance, contested fade away shots.

At least Melo did far better than D Rose did against Lebron last year, DRose had a far superior team.
Melo - 28 points 8 rebounds on 42 pct. against Lebron JAMES playing 1 talent against 3?
And Melo had to guard Lebron the whole game.

Your absolutely right. For that I will fault Woodson for not getting Novak 26-28ft 3-pointers. Problem is Woodson was pleading for Novak tl shoot the damn ball but he just would not release it cos his game is not shooting under pressure. There's always the offseason to get better but after 8yrs in the league I dont know

This is and has been my biggest fear with Woodson as head coach. It means Lin will eventually regress from starter, to rotation player to borderline scrub because Woodson will tune out anyone who doesn't dump the ball into Melo's hands every single trip up the floor.
I remember seeing him rip into Lin for passing to Novak etc even when they were making shots and Melo was shooting around 2-15. Mow I maybe completely wrong on this and it's still more of a gut feel than anything else but I do think Lin will be spending lots of time in Woody's doghouse.

Knicks arent as good as the Heat its that simple. No amount of coaching was making up the talent difference. What did u people expect. Did u really think the Knicks could beat this Heat team with half a roster?Or with this roster?

Nah, Smith was shooting because he doesn't know how to pass. He could play with Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, and Kareem all in their primes and would still take at least ten off balance shots a game.
Please tell me who else should be Shooting the Ball. Novak who needs his shot fed 2 him, Amare who has 1 hand and cant dribble himself open, Chandler who has no offensive game, Fields worst jump shooting SG in the NBA, Jeffries with 1 leg, Old Mike bibby. You guys just aren't watching or aren't knowing. Novak is a spot up shooter. He gets his shots from passes. That's dribble penetration, passing out of doubles... Stuff that good pgs do and make.

Perhaps you can curl up and get to sleep at night pretending that it doesn't matter HOW you play against a better team, but the truth is that when you play a top team you need to execute to perfection. You need to have an actual plan on how to score the ball and to get the defense to do what you want rather than take only what they give him all game. Case in point is Melo taking a ton of jumpshots. That's what the Heat wanted!!! This way they keep him off the Free Throw line, which they did in the final game.
What you want to do then is space the Heat out and keep the lane open for penetration using PnR, back cuts, give and go plays etc. You want plays where you're threats are moving and the defense can't just camp in an area and settle in. I've been watching what Woody has done to the offense and it's devolved into a make it up as you go offense, which is what he always ran in ATL. Heavy ISO doesn't require a lot of moves and counter moves.
Woody coaches LAZY offense and always has. I was HOPING AND PRAYING that he would leave most of the offense in tact so that the rest of the team would have a chance to be involved and to create shots for guys that can't just get their own shots or to create better attempts at the basket for STAT and Tyson. Woody didn't do anything and so the Knicks never really had a chance to win this series. That's a coaches job!!! Give your team the best chance possible to win and even against a better team you might just pullout a tough win at the right time. If you set up some real plays, JR doesn't get to take so many shots. If you just leave it up to him he'll take'em.

Complete BS, plenty of people noticed that Woodson did nothing to get Bovak involved when he started as coach in the regular season. You were orobably too un.. ""Euphoric"" to notice. Novak went from being the scourge of the double digit leads to a non factor under Woody in like 6-7 games.
I don't want him back either, but he'll be here. Bummer.
Why because he wanted to get his star players going who were having their worst seasons of their careers under Dantoni who refused fo adjust? Novak had plenty games under woodson where he factored in getting the win. Fans were "Euphoric" for a reason
